We probably shouldn't get too upset because we do have a stacked deck but I just cant understand why we don't put in our talent and let them develop so we can win down the stretch?
Here is my beef with this post. I don't think Anthony Davis would impact our team until February on this years roster under Bill Self. Heck LeBron James would sit and watch Traylor gobble up 20mpg on this years roster if he were a freshman. Look at Braggs numbers vs Traylor. They have very similar stats BUT the main difference is Traylor plays double the minutes. So why is Bragg getting half the minutes? Coach Self is why and no one is going to take minutes from Traylor because Coach Self's infatuated with him... Mickelson, Bragg, and now Diallo are 3 options that are better than Traylor BUT no one is going to play for some reason unknown to the rest of us? Maybe he has dirt on Coach Self? Who knows? We will all have to tolerate this kind of behavior from Self for the rest of his tenure and that's all there is to it!
Diallo from what I have heard is going to put 7 Jayhawks in double figures scoring. How about them apples? When have we ever had that problem? In fact I have heard that we will see a major increase in transition buckets on top of what we already have. The reason he is so valuable is he will score 10-12 more points in transition buckets/putbacks each game. Its not really about set plays for him he gets his own and will wear other bigs out in a hot hurry. I am salivating just thinking about how bad we are going to run up the score board. DIALLO IS FREE!!!

@JRyman I used to be big on numbers but I have lost faith in them over time. If you look at Brad Stevens and his coaching staff you will find a numbers guy who is probably one of the best in the country when it comes to numbers. That said there is a lot to be said about shot selection and where guys should be taking shots. I used to track it but one day I realized I was the only one who saw the numbers and HCBS wasn't using my data so WHY keep doing it because no one was going to listen to me lol
He has a pretty good supporting cast when things are going right. 6 Jayhawks averaging double figures is REALLY good! How long has it been since 6 guys have averaged double figures? The answer is IDK but it sure is nice!

I know enough to know that he WILL be Lebron of the Ukraine if he continues to work like he does. He is the real life No Days Off kid. He works harder than anyone on every aspect of the game not just shooting but EVERYTHING. I would buy stock in his future shoe line if I could after listening to some of the stories I have heard.
This sense that Mykhailiuk is just too gifted to fail is easier to see when the lights aren’t on.
Last month at practice, he warmed up shooting from all over the floor with his left hand. Teammates soon joined him in shooting with their off hand, but they looked awkward and threw up bricks.
Mykhailiuk looked like a natural, shooting all the way out to the three-point line with decent accuracy. Later on as practice got serious, he switched to his right hand in a shooting drill and barely missed.

@KUSTEVE KU is second in scoring and 3rd in 3pt % at this point of the season. I cant see it remaining like this but I am hopeful it will.

This is exactly what I was talking about the other day. The opponents BEST 3pt defender will have to guard BG every time he enters the game. That opens up other options. BG should take his defender as far out as possible to open things up under the basket. Coach Self is not exploiting this at all. If BG takes his defender out to the 3 line throw inside to Ellis and wait for the double team it opens up the floor BIG time for an Ellis assist. Only problem is Ellis starts dribbling and shoots over a double team every time instead of passing to the open guy. He should get pulled out of the game every time that happens just like our sharp shooters get pulled when they brick a 3.

Oliver Luck @NCAA is in charge of Cheick Diallo's case. Luck was AD at WV. Luck gave $25K incentive for Huggins to beat Kansas. Case closed.
I looks like HCBS is frustrated? I wonder if this frustration has anything to do with how he handled the BG situation? Maybe the NCAA will suspend Coach Self for 6 games for voicing his frustration?
@HighEliteMajor The big thing for me is that as of late its like he only recruits 5 star guys and then when we fail to use all of our scholarships he scrambles and ends up with transfers and under recruited guys. That's what I like to call flying by the seat of your pants and unorganized. Come on get a game plan together that works or hire someone who can. Play your stars like Alexander and Bragg from day one or don't expect to land any future 5 star guys at a rate like UK or Duke. He is going to have to go after 4 star guys if he continues to dish out minutes to inferior talent. When a 5 star guy goes undrafted it doesn't help out with recruiting big names either. Then we have a problem with 4 star guys leaving because Coach Self recruits over them so its like STOP recruiting 5 star guys OR start playing them from day one. I don't think there is a happy medium in todays game with coaches whoring out minutes to freshmen over at UK and Duke? I think he should make 4 star guys that fit our system a priority from day one and lock them up. That's how he has to do it or KU will continue to fly by the seat of our pants on the recruiting field and add more early tournament exits.
I have to ask you WHO else could do a better job? Unless you are Coach K or Cal you are not going to come in to KU and do any better. I just think Coach Self needs to find new help or make some changes to improve a few areas like how he recruits 5 star guys and doesn't play them from the get go? If you look MOST of the guys he is still after are 5 star guys and 1 or 2 4 stars. If you don't start them chances are they will go to Duke or UK where they will see the court from day one. Then its obvious we need someone else to coach the bigs because the development of that area has been hit hard. other than that WHO ELSE is going to come in to KU and have more success?
The Chips in the bed really hit the nail on the head! How many summer tournaments are held in Vegas? These kids parents get reassured that they are going to have all expenses paid and then some in chips. That's how all of these kids turn up in Vegas! talk about turning a light on!
Is it possible Diallo's legal representation is waiting for a big pay check from "Big Shoe Companies" before they go after the NCAA? How long after they get their big pay check will Diallo get his freedom?
@Red.Rooster I think this is exactly what we are dealing with in the Diallo situation. I bet big shoe companies are lining Diallos legal teams pockets to get this situation taken care of pronto if that's how they work?
Its pretty simple to grasp in my mind BUT obviously Coach Self seams to hold out hope he can recruit 5 star players and offer them the bench. Here it is mid November and we still haven't landed anyone in the top 100. I believe with HCBS's track record as of late we are done for the year and no 5 star guys are going to sign with KU. That leaves us scraps, leaves us looking for guys that don't fit the system, leaves us with more headaches!
This COULD be part of the hold up. Just sayn

I don't get it BG goes 5 for 5 and then doesn't even hoist up a 3 the very next game? Now he is suspended? Cheick's not cleared then hires an attorney and now Cheick gets a little more freedom but still cant play? Was the national enquirer hired to do PR for KU?
I can see it now. Coach Self says to BG "I need you to pass the ball inside to Lucas". Brannen says "even if I am wide open"? Coach Self says "You still don't get it do you"? Brannen says "Why Coach, So he can shoot another air ball from point blank range"? Coach Self suspends him for 6 games. End of story...
I hope his parents didn't already have reservations in Hawaii? If it were my child I would be there! I bet they're pissed!

Like I said This program is like an aging sports car that WAS the fastest most expensive most awesome car on the road. It can still hang around in a race but it needs some work to get it back to its glory days!
