Spot on. Nailed it. Indefensible.

All I have is questions.

1. HCBS wants to win, right? So why would he put us at a deficit by playing more minutes to Lucas & Traylor?

2. He wants back to the basket scoring, right? Couldn't Bragg & Mick provide more back to basket scoring?

3. Has HCBS really embraced the OAD or just the recruiting of OAD's? Could he actually think that if he doesn't play them enough minutes they'll come back for additional seasons?

4. HEM you didn't comment on Svi. But if Selden keeps playing twice as many minutes as Svi w/out WUG production then could Self again have a blind spot.

5. Could we outscore most teams if we ran action for our three point shooters? What if we shot 25 threes by Brannen, Perry, Svi, Selden, Mason & Graham? Think we could have beaten MSU?

6. @Jaybate 1.0 has referenced Okie ball often. Admittedly I know very little of Hank Iba and then Eddie Sutton. Iba coached before the three point line so it makes sense that he would have wanted to score as close to the basket to increase shooting %. But does Self really think scoring 3 points instead of 2 is a bad thing? Or that it is fools gold and thus not sustainable? Or that's it not "real" basketball? Anyone watch Golden State recently? They shoot 3's which draws the defense away from the basket and thus opens up the lane for driving and passing into the post.

I love Kansas Basketball and Coach Self...I REALLY DO!!! But he needs to play to his current rosters strengths!

Last question:

1. Did Self coach differently in 2008? Remember the semi final against UNC? My favorite game maybe of all time. Rush, Chalmers, Sheron and even Russ Rob had the green light to shoot 3's whenever they wanted...at least that's my memory.

What's changed? Assistant coaches could be one variable?

What if HCBS fired Snacks after Maui and replaced him w/ @HighEliteMajor? I don't know HEM personally but I've read over the years that some people know him and I think he coaches(ed) in KC area?

I know it ain't happening but dream w me! If HEM were to have Self's ear and could gently lovingly suggest some of these changes who in here thinks KU wouldn't become a better team?

This actually makes HCBS's lack of playing Brannen more understandable. Self has always punished off the court issues w/ either suspensions, pine time or "how bout you transfer young man."

Skipping class and partying in season have to be at the top of Self's list of things not to do while on scholarship to play basketball at the 2nd winningest program in college basketball history!!! Soon to be first when UK has to vacate a season(s.)

I was born in 1971 so the Chefs haven't made the SB in my lifetime thus dramatically lowering my expectations!

The Jayhawks however have a couple titles and a bunch of final fours which are so ADDICTIVE thus raising our expectations for titles.

It'll be interesting to see what people's expectations are for the Royals over the next decade....

To answer your questions:

1. Yes, Cal would still be there bc he's only been there half as long as Self.

2. Yes, Consonaunts would still be there bc of the two previous titles. But he was in decline for a while w health issues and lack of talent before he got the Team USA gig which has elevated his talent immensely.

3. That's a toughy. I assume Roy would still be there bc he's one of their own. But I'm sure there would be a small % of people calling for his replacement.

For the record, I don't want hcbs replaced. I love the guy! I just wish he was would free the three and play Mick and Bragg over Lucas & Jam Tray!!!

It's hard being a Chief's fan for sure but we were the 4th winningest franchise of regular season games in the 90's.

The playoffs is where legends are made and that's where Marty fell short every time.

And to a large degree HCBS has fallen short in the crapshoot that is the Madness. Without 2008 & 2012 he probably wouldn't still be coaching here.

There could be an embargo but I'm not convinced it's from an outside force. I have to believe we have missed on multiple recruits bc Self refuses to play some high profile players over low ranked fifth year non-producing seniors.

Wigs and Selden got plenty of minutes. However, Selby, Alexander and apparently now Bragg ride the pine watching less talented players get valuable minutes. Minutes these youngsters should be getting to learn how to play to prepare for March.

Well said. And I wish I had some clue why Lucas and Jam Tray get minutes but, alas there is no LOGICAL explanation.

Lucas shot an airball from point blank range completely over the basket! Just like last year.

I wonder if HCBS has an open door policy? Bc if I were Hunter Mickelson I'd respectfully go to his office tomorrow and ask for more minutes.

I want Diallo to be eligible but do we know for sure he'll get to play? Personally, I'd give all the post minutes to Mick, Bragg & Diallo when we hit conference play.

I also would give Svi another 10-15 min per game.
