I think it will be good for team in the long run. Get the freshmen in the fire and let them show what they are made of. We might be surprised by how good Mason, Frankamp and Selden are as PGs. Otherwise Greene may not be a PG, but appeared to have pretty good handle on a couple of occasions.

Agreed @Mr Miyagi. White doesn't look as flashy as Wiggins, but was very good tonight. I think he not only played himself into rotation, but might have a shot at starting too. It showed how much a year under Coach Self, one can improve. There is a huge advantage in a sophomore over a freshman unless one is an extra ordinary talent like Wiggins.

Another good sign is Lucas tries really hard and may have chances to contribute. Obviously he is not as conditioned as the other bigs like Black and Embiid. He needs to push himself more.

One game in the book, and there is a lot of be excited about.

Why did it sound like Coach Self was thinking about redshirting White, but White played himself into the rotation? After all, White, Greene and Frankamp were all eligible to take a redshirt year.

My things to watch: 1. How do the top 3 freshmen perform against the cupcakes. 2. How do the 3 redshirt eligible freshmen perform against the cupcakes. 3. Which 3 redshirt eligible freshmen has the best attitude to be a Jayhawk in the long run. 4. Which redshirt eligible freshman will benefit the most from a redshirt year and whether he appears to accept the fact that he will be more valuable in the later year. The way Coach Self put it, redshirt is a benefit trading a 18 year old body for a 23 year old body. What is there to lose? On the other hand, Coach Self may not grant one a redshirt year if he doesn't think he won't contribute much later. So this is my watch number 5. All body gestures from my TV since I won't hear any rumbling up close.

Let's hope ESPN3 comes through. Rock Chalk time now!

@dylans I haven't been to a game at Allen for years, but I was told once or twice I could not bring my SLR into Soldier Field and also other concerts. So I'd expect the same at Allen. Point and shoot should be no problem.

I'd like to suggest that anytime we embed pictures that we are not sure whether they are copyrighted we include a link to the site, and give credit where it is due. Not sure how much it will help with the possible copyright infringement, but at least it shows good will gestures.

Hey, @julian Does the reply going under the post being addressed make it a threaded display? If so, I'm good with flat display. Not a big deal.

Regarding dynamic sorting, I don't know what your software is capable of. And maybe the capability is already available, but just not implemented.

So here is what I was thinking. I believe the current setting has the threads sorted by when the last reply was made, the threads with the latest reply goes to the top. To me, it creates a clutter and feels like the old topics got rehashed over and again. But it also appears many people prefer the current format. So I'd like to see a user selectable sort order. I'd much prefer to have the threads sorted by when the threads are created. So the order stays stationary, and I can choose to go down the list and see some other topics that I'm interested. Besides the latest reply is always displayed on each thread, so I know which one got new reply. Make sense?

I think another reason it appears a little "schizophrenic" is that the threads jump when new posts/replies got added, and the latest reply caused the whole page of threads to reshuffle where the latest moves the top. One night, my screen was shifting up and down, and I thought I got a computer virus or something. The site or nodebb software is very interactive (different things may pop in and out), and it does take some getting used to.

I think this will be useful when we want to share our own photos. If Approx doesn't like our photos, he can always remove the posts or do whatever necessary. There are plenty of free photo hosting sites, such as www.flickr.com, photobucket.com, or http://picasaweb.google.com. ↗ And we don't have to "borrow" others' copy righted material.

@drgnslayr That's a wonderful idea of posters writing articles for the site. I volunteer to be a reader. :)

Actually I have no issue with the site running some ads to support it's operation, just not intrusive. With the number of visitors coming to the site during the season, the cost to maintain a reasonable performance may be pretty significant.

Hi, @Approxinifity. It appears the site put the new topic in the wrong bucket. I made sure of where I was, and it showed up in the correct bucket after Submit, but when I navigated to the BBall News, my post showed up here.

Also when I tried to reply to my post, it wouldn't respond until I reloaded the page. I'm using the current version of Firefox.

Hey, @Approxinfinity. Would it be possible to add the capability to sort all the topics by user selection? For example, create a button on top next to "New Topic", sort by the time last commented on, sort by the time the topic was created, sort by the above but reverse order?

I think the search capability is another useful functionality once we have a little more history.

It turned out mine was in the same boat. And I agree with Slayr, it's unfortunate kusports.com took the hardline route. With the number of visits they got (before the policy change), they should be able to negotiate much better terms with the advertisers. So I don't see what they'd gain by killing a good product.

@lighthawk, Was that Pizza Shuttle in the Larry days? Other than getting for free, it wasn't very good in the old days. Good old days! :)

Son goes to Madison, but I'm definitely not a Ryan fan. Love Wisconsin football, but they lost a good coach to Arkansas.

This season we have Wiggins 6'8", Selden 6'6", White 6'6", Greene 6'7". But next year, we will have White 6'6", Greene 6'7", Oubre 6'6", Selden 6'6" if Selden doesn't go OAD. Even though Selden is a big boy and also received a lot of hype, I just don't have the same feeling he will go OAD, unlike McLemore who already spent a redshirt year before going. So we will have the same situation at 2-3 next year. To me it makes sense Greene gets a little taste of what it's like playing at KU this season, then redshirts next. It really depends on how Selden decides on OAD. If he doesn't go, we will have junior White, sophomore Selden and freshman Oubre. An experienced redshirt sophomore Greene will be very valuable in 2015.

It's a tough situation for Frankamp. From all reports (I've never seen any live action), he is lightweight and slow. But he appears to be a smart player and can shoot. I noticed he had the highest assists during the open scrimmage and made 2/3. A redshirt season probably will do him good, and have a chance to work with Coach Hudy before getting some seasoning next year, essentially doing what Greene will this season. So Frankamp probably will not be effective until he is a junior (redshirt sophomore).

Works great using Firefox, but company IE8 won't work. Not a big deal, just saying.

I didn't get to see the scrimmage, so I only read kusports.com's article and watched the highlight. It appeared everyone was hotdogging out there. How did Frankamp get the highest number of assists?
