@Texas-Hawk-10 nice analysis. Something to consider. Certainly doesnât help our case with 5 stars to recruit big busts. Iâd argue that those kids made their own bed. All of them could have developed under Self with more time. I donât think itâs fair to consider them products of Kansas basketball. But for the purposes of this article it gives the author plausible deniability for his hit job.

@mayjay nope. I did read the rest of the article, and in no way does it invalidate my point. If you donât see it I think youâre not really looking. The cautionary tale section mentions 7 players.
3 positively: a Kentucky star (AD) a Duke player as if heâs a star but he isnât yet (RJ Barrett) and Cade Cunningham.
3 negatively because of âfizzling outâ: Mcadoo, Alexander and Duvall. ie a UNC guy, a Duke guy and a KU guy, the latter of which was suspended because of alleged under the table stuff. Why pick Alexander?
Finally, a single last player mentioned negatively, Quentin Grimes, as an example of someone who underperformed and had to transfer to be successful.
This looks like a pretty clear hit job to me. Of all the players they could choose from, why these seven?

Some players leave school too early, suffer injuries, or simply don't fulfill their potential because they went to a less than ideal situation, didn't work hard enough, or were perhaps overrated. Other elite high school prospects, such as Quentin Grimes, were able to rebound from poor starts to their career by transferring and finding success elsewhere, ultimately still becoming first-round picks. It's a trend that will likely accelerate now that players need not worry about sitting out a year when they transfer, and also have increased opportunities to get paid.

@benshawks08 Good posts. Thanks for expounding on the Russ Rob comparison. I think it's important to give credit to coaches for players doing well when they demonstrate growth even if it happens later in or after their time under that coach. It is crucial that players find confidence and proficiency. Bobby is showing that. I would worry more if he was struggling from the bench.
@kuballin10 thumbs up for the passion, but right now I'm happy seeing Bill with a truly reloaded team and I want to see where it goes with doing things âhis wayâ. He hasn't had this level of talent since 2008. At least that's where I'm at until I see otherwise. Sherron didn't start over Russ Rob, and that worked out well. I think Harris is a glue guy that helps the team move the ball and play good D. I don't get the sentiment to push him way down the depth chart. That seems like overkill.
