Really stoked though on the whole, Newman really is a scoring machine, Preston has a huge ceiling, and Garrett is the swiss army knife everyone has been saying. If the new guys stay at that level and the rest of the guys get up to the level we expected them to be, we're going to be nasty!

sure so our kubuckets slack is one instance, other companies have instances, other people have private instances, etc. so like 8 million copies of slack, they're all down.
This is an app heavily used by businesses. There will be hell to pay for this outage, and I think you can be assured it will not happen again any time soon. Hopefully people don't get cold feet and give it a shot next game.

@dylans @DanR in fairness, @BShark banned him for a couple hours because he felt @globaljaybird was being overly personal and negative. While I probably wouldn't have banned him at the time, I get why BShark did it, I know things had gotten heated. BShark is a global moderator as is @Crimsonorblue22 to help moderate, and @dylans and @bskeet also have admin rights. I think over the years things have been pretty democratic and I don't want to get away from that. After the incident @globaljaybird was unbanned but decided to delete his account. I hope @globaljaybird gets the itch to come back. He's one of us and he is missed, as is @brooksmd who also decided to delete his account earlier in the summer.

@mayjay hmm. There' a "robot" in slack named slackbot that you can tap on and ask it questions, as if you were chatting with it. There are also a bunch of articles and vidoes people posted; I'm not sure what's best.
When I started with it, I just kind of poked around... It's a fairly intuitive interface. Here's a list of things I found that might be helpful https://okdork.com/slack-app-19-tips-advanced-tutorial/ ↗ and the video in there might have some useful tips as well. Just keep in mind you can't really mess anything up, so explore. And, for the most part, the game chats will occur in #general channel. So click on that, and then click on the bar below the chat to type what you want to say, then hit enter.

@DanR Ah thanks for the reminder. Thanks, that's all I ask. Going to Slack means we get:
1. quicker interface (just hitting enter to submit, like any chat client, and thinner messages), so less overhead for quick discussion
2. the equivalent of thread presence (remember back when we could see who was watching thread? now we can see who is online in slack during chats) and can see when someones typing
3. a nice mobile app
4. custom emojis
5. a few plugins that I really like
Right on, yeah as I said, I think it might be pretty much the same deal, slack might be (?) a bit more customizable and will have some fun integrations. I already themed it Jayhawk colors and added a couple emojis. Would love to add more emojis. Also, the giphy integration is goofy but fun.
Think the Whitman decommit was the last straw for Bill and late commits? :)

@BShark so I checked out the discord server you posted, and it seems like the basic feature sets are pretty comparable, the notable exception in favor of discord being that it has more prominent built in audio in the room. Slack has a google hangout integration, and slack has announced they'll do their own video and audio, so it probably won't be long until it has a comparable presentation of audio in the chat to discord. Personally, I don't want an audio feed most of the time during games. I'd turn it on when Mario hits the shot, etc, but I don't know... I'm a homebody that watches basketball with my family and types fast. But, I also get the appeal.
I'm comfortable administering Slack and adding integrations / grooming it because that's what I use at work, so that's why I went with it. Plus its a multibillion dollar company; I think its safe to assume it will keep getting better, will have tons of maintained integrations, and will have a mass of people that will already be familiar with it. It has a nice mobile app, and a robust feature set.
So for now, I'd like to stick with Slack, unless there are some critical drawbacks that are addressed by another solution.

I think we'll find that for game day chats, Slack will be a lot of fun. There's a ton of stuff you can do on slack, and I think its format is more effective for a chat room kind of situation like game day.

Sure, youth sports are in decline, but I can't image that they will disappear; I think they'll just not be for everyone and level out.
I grew up a Red Sox fan because my family has Massachusettes ties. Of course, that meant hating the Yankees. At some point I started hating the Sox too because they became pretty much two sides of the same coin. Huge money markets with massive salaries and hired guns. Now both have done better with homegrown talent. I think that is what makes these baby bombers a little more likeable than in years past ... And scary. No business being on the doorstep with a team so young.
My perspective on Sacramento is this... Would I love to see Frank getting minutes? Of course. But in the absence of minutes, I measure Frank's success in the success of Fox. I like the kid from what I've seen. Im guessing Frank does too. And I'm guessing Frank can be a very positive influence in the locker room and in helping Fox grow. It's bittersweet. But if the hapless Kings find a way to win like they did tonight, that's Frank's team, and I imagine he is putting everything he can into helping them build a winning culture.

Oh. I had no idea the bans had a timer on them @BShark. Thats something new since last I banned. Yeah maybe the timer doesn't expire correctly on this version of the board. Entirely possible.
@JayHawkFanToo very early on I banned a guy that wouldn't stop cussing at people. I unbanned him after a day or two, and I think he came back but eventually moved on. All the people on the current ban list are spam accounts.
@BShark is a global moderator, and global moderators have the ability to ban. We've talked about this incident and the ban was intended only to be a couple hours for gb to chill out. I hope we can hit the reset button and move forward.
