Crap. About to go small

Remy has been the difference. Mark Adams’ schemes did not account for him

Refs rewarding tech out of control.

Wear these guys down!

Wow two fouls called!

Dig in!!

Was that a whistle?

What is consistent is that the officials have done it all year.

JW! Learn how to avoid and deal with double teams

Need JCL

Can’t win with Ochai in a shell

Ochai is tentative

It’s like there is no assault on Dave vicious enough to warrant a foul

Travel!

No more turn overs please.

Thank god Dave is playing well

Just need the shooters to shoot

Clearly we want to speed up the game but not faster than we can handle the ball!

It’s actually a fine rule. Just horribly adjudicated.

No foul on Dave???!!

STFU Fran

He should always be on the floor on the inbounds

Ochai inbounding the ball though... I wake up at night thinking about it

In a cold sweat.

Holy crap!

Wilson’s rebound was spectacular. Deserved better.

Argh

So physical on Dave all day.

Battle on hawks!

Fran irritating as usual

Timing of this rumor is suspect.

From pre-season, not sure if it has carried through...

Yeah, this quote attempts to explain one of the more inconsistent parts of the game:

“An offensive player,” Shaw said, “once he’s gathered the ball and starts his movement, he can’t change. The fact that our rule allows a defender to step in front, and all he has to do is be set a split second before the offensive player’s toe to leave the ground is impossible. It’s also extremely difficult to referee … and we’re not good at it, but I don’t know if you can be good at it. We tried to get it where ‘When the plant foot hits, the defender can no longer get in front.’ The block/charge is the hardest play in the game.”

True: "we're not good at it. False: "I don't know if you can be good at it."

I don't see how they could be any worse at it.

Still unclear: what has led officials to allow so much contact, virtually anywhere around the lane.

Yeah. The officiating has been... selective... all season. I'm not saying it is grossly biased toward or against a team.

I am just saying it has favored a style — a very physical style.

I would like to know what points of emphasis the officials are following.

I’ll say it again even though it will make me sound like a sourpuss: I don’t like the officiating approach in the B12 this season.

The amount of contact allowed effectively levels the playing field for teams that struggle to shoot and does a favor for teams that have size inside and teams that lack depth.

Baylor doesn’t struggle to shoot. They are legit. But our limited inside game was amplified and their injuries were mitigated.

I know I know. Teams have to adapt. But habituation to this style could work against B12 teams in the tourney with officiating crews from other conferences.

Our late game management leaves something to be desired.

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 07:44 PM

We didn’t exactly win that game but we did get the W.

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 07:43 PM

Good lord.

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 07:41 PM

50% freethrow in the last 1:30.

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 07:40 PM

Wilson’s efforts to get in the face of a shooter always seems halfhearted.

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 07:39 PM

OU making us work for it.

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 07:37 PM

Four missed in the last 1:30

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 07:37 PM

Free throws could have sealed this game.

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 07:32 PM

Last 3 min is where we fell apart vs Texas

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 07:25 PM

Strange game.

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 07:24 PM

Need this run to extend.

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 07:21 PM

The “KU gets all the calls” campaign across the league has been effective in giving all other teams the advantage.

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 07:20 PM

Foul again. No call

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 07:19 PM

Bang

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 07:19 PM

That is a foul

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 07:18 PM

We are playing to try to tie rather than playing to win

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 07:16 PM

Wilson is having a good day. But everyone else is very average.
