@approxinfinity Just say no to 2 bigs against a 5 out team.
@Kcmatt7 Heād have to change his attitude. LeBron cried too much across the first 3/4 of his career to be as successful as you imagine in that era. Heās plenty big, but mentally a little weak - he wants everyone to like him and those men didnāt give a flying frak. One of the top 5 players ever would have a big adjustment to make or heād be pretty average for years.
@justanotherfan Because itās the nbaās rule not the ncaa that forces kids who donāt want an education to get one year of college or Euro-ball (trade school) under their belt.
This team gives KU fits. Iām glad for this series and hope it continues. Itās great to get this experience before March to try and figure stuff out.
Thereās your answer @Crimsonorblue22 Wiseman is done with college b-ball. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/28335497/james-wiseman-leaves-memphis-enter-nba-draft ā
Too bad the rules are such that KU canāt fill up its roster completely for several more years. Itād be nice if Les could sign 13 juco guys to go with his 25 HS recruits next season to even the numbers out in that (now sophomores) class.
As it stands KUs class is ranked 45th. (Not bad!) It appears to be an off year recruiting for the big 12 as a whole though -
10 Texas
11 OU
34 TCU
38 WVU
42 OSU
44 Texas Texh
45 KU
50 Baylor
Unranked KSU

I don't agree. Jay is 4-3 against Self and I bet we're even after Saturday.
BUT Jay seems to win the most important games against KU.
Mario says sit down coach I got this. So thereās that one big win...against the two losses. Time will tell if we get a chance for payback, but itās really not that lopsided.

@dylans We've had plenty of post players since Manning. Few at his level but very close. Raef LaFrentz, Scot Pollard, Paul Pierce, Drew Gooding, Wayne Simien, Nick Collison, and that's only a partial list under Coach Roy.
Maybe not as good as Manning but more than just good
I meant under Self when Manning was an assistant and after. I just think the talent is the difference more than coaching in that period.
Werenāt we promised a surprise? Franks soon perhaps?
All HS, nice! š
Anyone else find it funny that VCU is ranked higher than Texas? š
Kansas just hasnāt had the post talent since Danny left. Is that partially because the allure of having Danny here helped draw recruits in? Or is it just the recruiting cycle? I do think Danny could help coach up the bigs (dream scenario), but I donāt think it would really make that much of a difference. The 4-1 is here to stay unless Kansas snags a special player at the 4 spot (JRE/Hurt come to mind).
@FarmerJayhawk What exactly are blue and gray shirts?
@Woodrow Let us dream! Lol
I had no idea this was a national talking point...and the conversation rages on. Truly a dick move to get 5 million clicks. Lol attaboy!!! https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/28313437/monmouth-george-papas-college-basketball-most-infamous-dunk ā
@jhawk7782 Yes to all, but ESPN has a power ranking as well.
Itās a sign of respect and itās not bad for recruiting. Itās a good sign KUs in the running for a one seed and and easier path to being the last team ranked #1 too. Mostly worthless, but itās good to know the national perspective.
Poor Sims, stuck on the Washington racial slurs. Rough. Not quite as bad as the Hawks banished to Sacramento though.
@Kcmatt7 Seems feasible. Has he redshirted before? If not he could use a regular one if he only played in 4 games, I believe.

The drips?
Sad when a guy peaks in HS. At least it was just athletics.
I imagined big things for Grimes... in year three. He imagined big things for himself in year one. His big head got popped like a pimple and he ended up at Houston. Best of luck to him and them.
@Kcmatt7 They have spacing issues heād help with big time!
Snacks should go hang out with John Lucas this summer too.
Just donāt skip the bbq is my recommendation, itās iconic for a reason.
@KirkIsMyHinrich You can bet they wonāt roll over for KU though.
@mayjay The OJ comment was snarky, but at that point i was kinda confused. I really donāt know what is a benign comment theses days. You sure canāt point out any racial differences or gender or height or weight or hair color or... Nothing is safe, even when making an off the cuff comment in the presence of an old judge. If I can unintentionally offend the supposedly blind justice Iām totally screwed. Believe me if I was ripping lawyers youād know, it wouldnāt be so polite; youād be getting my true feeling based on personal experience (and Iāve never been on the losing side).
Joes Barbecue is the one place I always frequent.
@mayjay You have wholly missed my initial point and completely mischaracterized me in your sensitivity. Sorry bud. I actually considered law school once upon a time.
@mayjay You are correct and OJ is innocent. Still doesnāt give me the warm and fuzzies of an innocent man vindicated. Perhaps you have a better term than legal maneuvering. I didnāt know that was a trigger point. Lesson learned. Lol
@BeddieKU23 Get in where you fit in. Thereās plenty of options right by the arena. Itās hard to go wrong.
@BeddieKU23 You absolutely must make it back to Larryville for a game!!! That being said youāll have an absolute blast watching the Jayhawks! The Sprint Center has a nice court view from most seats. The one time I went we sat in the back row and it had a good time. (Back row isnāt all bad you come in from the top so we were right by the exit with no stairs.) Enjoy my Jayhawk friend!!!
This kind of legal maneuvering doesnāt make my heart all warm and fuzzy. Itās almost an admission of guilt. Canāt prove their innocence so attack the ambush.
I hope Gottfried has a good lawyer who helps clear this up instead of just delaying it again. The investigation has hurt recruiting long enough, its time to get it over with.
@drgnslayr I bet youāre right. If theyāre not going to can him (Id be shocked if he was) then theyāve got to commit to him in a very public way. Itās best for recruiting and probably more importantly big money donors.
Flat, but probably not worth juicing them too much at this point.

Funny you say that- I donāt wear Nikes because theyāre too narrow.

Countdown to Nova loss begins today.
Does KU play them next year? Cause it aināt happening this season.
@Kcmatt7 š So VTās running backs are bad? And he thinks heāll get playing time there he couldnāt get here. Got it. Iām glad heās gone if thatās the case. Sounds like heās got a losers limp. If thereās more to it Iād like to know (but it may be too personal to divulge) so for now heās just a quitter...and I donāt really blame him KU football is a joke. Itād take a real man to bear the burden of being a KU football player.
Kcmatt7 said:
You only get to play college football one time. If the situation isn't right for a player, I have no issues with them going somewhere they think they may be more valued.
What makes you think he wasnāt valued at KU? (Just curious). I was under the impression his sudden redshirt wasnāt even discussed with the coaching staff beforehand. I could see him thinking the grass is greener elsewhere, but he was getting on the field and fed the ball.
Why would the nba want Self? Heās old.
Wish he couldāve left in a way that didnāt leave his teammates high and dry mid season.
@nuleafjhawk Iād agree 100% but feel like heās being undermined by Belichick in some weird end of career power struggle. Brady has no receivers - Gronk retired, they cut Gordon and headcase Brown and the pats havenāt signed or drafted a decent receiver in awhile either. I think most QBs would struggle there this season.
@Crimsonorblue22 Maybe a March re-match with Dook so Hurt can be introduced to agony.
@FarmerJayhawk Iāve only been to a few games outside of Allen Fieldhouse, but not one has been near the atmosphere in Lawrence. Iād just like to experience other āgreatā college b-ball arenas to baseline the experience. Iād like the perspective.
Kcmatt7 said:
I was at the game. Doke shot free throws nearly the entire warm-up session. He made most of them. He's trying to get better at them. He cares.
He cares too much. Heās totally screwed. They need to do something to make him relax at the line. Punch him in practice if he does more than take the ball and shoot. No dribbling. No turning the ball over in hand. No staring at the rim. Just shoot it the instant you get the ball Brannen Green style.
I still wouldnāt pick against Brady in the playoffs though. (Unless heās playing the Chiefs, but thatās homerism)
Top four AFC teams record against each other:
Baltimore 2-1
Texans 2-1
Chiefs 2-1
Patriots 0-3
@HighEliteMajor Even more concerning (to me), did you see him take an 8 footer?!? Donāt do that Dok!!!
His free throws mechanics arenāt good, but his issues at the stripe are mental and only going to get worse at home. Self needs to yell at him to shoot it before he releases every time. š
@drgnslayr Iāll have to pay more attention to Moss, high praise-
āIn the last two weeks or so, I think heās sliding his feet pretty well and I think heās become a pretty solid defensive guard,ā Self said of Moss. āOne thing that he does do well is that heās a good block-out guy. Very rarely does he miss a block-out.ā
Granny Franny says - ehh heās just a shooter.
Fāem. Lol hope Moss keeps improving. Heās really carving out a nice roll.
