@approxinfinity Just say no to 2 bigs against a 5 out team.

Villanova Wildcats - Saturday - 11 am - Fox • Dec 20, 2019 02:39 PM

@Kcmatt7 He’d have to change his attitude. LeBron cried too much across the first 3/4 of his career to be as successful as you imagine in that era. He’s plenty big, but mentally a little weak - he wants everyone to like him and those men didn’t give a flying frak. One of the top 5 players ever would have a big adjustment to make or he’d be pretty average for years.

@justanotherfan Because it’s the nba’s rule not the ncaa that forces kids who don’t want an education to get one year of college or Euro-ball (trade school) under their belt.

This team gives KU fits. I’m glad for this series and hope it continues. It’s great to get this experience before March to try and figure stuff out.

There’s your answer @Crimsonorblue22 Wiseman is done with college b-ball. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/28335497/james-wiseman-leaves-memphis-enter-nba-draft ↗

2020 Football Recruiting • Dec 19, 2019 02:54 PM

Too bad the rules are such that KU can’t fill up its roster completely for several more years. It’d be nice if Les could sign 13 juco guys to go with his 25 HS recruits next season to even the numbers out in that (now sophomores) class.

2020 Football Recruiting • Dec 19, 2019 02:48 PM

As it stands KUs class is ranked 45th. (Not bad!) It appears to be an off year recruiting for the big 12 as a whole though -

10 Texas

11 OU

34 TCU

38 WVU

42 OSU

44 Texas Texh

45 KU

50 Baylor

Unranked KSU

I don't agree. Jay is 4-3 against Self and I bet we're even after Saturday.

BUT Jay seems to win the most important games against KU.

Mario says sit down coach I got this. So there’s that one big win...against the two losses. Time will tell if we get a chance for payback, but it’s really not that lopsided.

jhawk7782 said:

@dylans We've had plenty of post players since Manning. Few at his level but very close. Raef LaFrentz, Scot Pollard, Paul Pierce, Drew Gooding, Wayne Simien, Nick Collison, and that's only a partial list under Coach Roy.

Maybe not as good as Manning but more than just good

I meant under Self when Manning was an assistant and after. I just think the talent is the difference more than coaching in that period.

Weren’t we promised a surprise? Franks soon perhaps?

2020 Football Recruiting • Dec 18, 2019 05:57 PM

All HS, nice! šŸ‘

Other Games • Dec 18, 2019 02:59 PM

Anyone else find it funny that VCU is ranked higher than Texas? šŸ˜‚

Kansas just hasn’t had the post talent since Danny left. Is that partially because the allure of having Danny here helped draw recruits in? Or is it just the recruiting cycle? I do think Danny could help coach up the bigs (dream scenario), but I don’t think it would really make that much of a difference. The 4-1 is here to stay unless Kansas snags a special player at the 4 spot (JRE/Hurt come to mind).

@FarmerJayhawk What exactly are blue and gray shirts?

@Woodrow Let us dream! Lol

I had no idea this was a national talking point...and the conversation rages on. Truly a dick move to get 5 million clicks. Lol attaboy!!! https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/28313437/monmouth-george-papas-college-basketball-most-infamous-dunk ↗

Ok , I realize I'm probably in the minority • Dec 17, 2019 02:08 PM

@jhawk7782 Yes to all, but ESPN has a power ranking as well.

Ok , I realize I'm probably in the minority • Dec 16, 2019 11:00 PM

It’s a sign of respect and it’s not bad for recruiting. It’s a good sign KUs in the running for a one seed and and easier path to being the last team ranked #1 too. Mostly worthless, but it’s good to know the national perspective.

Former KU players • Dec 16, 2019 03:22 PM

Poor Sims, stuck on the Washington racial slurs. Rough. Not quite as bad as the Hawks banished to Sacramento though.

2020 Football Recruiting • Dec 16, 2019 03:16 PM

@Kcmatt7 Seems feasible. Has he redshirted before? If not he could use a regular one if he only played in 4 games, I believe.

Good for Grimes • Dec 14, 2019 12:57 AM

I imagined big things for Grimes... in year three. He imagined big things for himself in year one. His big head got popped like a pimple and he ended up at Houston. Best of luck to him and them.

Marcus Garrett • Dec 13, 2019 05:45 PM

@Kcmatt7 They have spacing issues he’d help with big time!

Marcus Garrett • Dec 13, 2019 04:21 PM

Snacks should go hang out with John Lucas this summer too.

Just don’t skip the bbq is my recommendation, it’s iconic for a reason.

Other Big-12 action • Dec 13, 2019 01:43 AM

@KirkIsMyHinrich You can bet they won’t roll over for KU though.

Well, this is interesting... • Dec 13, 2019 01:17 AM

@mayjay The OJ comment was snarky, but at that point i was kinda confused. I really don’t know what is a benign comment theses days. You sure can’t point out any racial differences or gender or height or weight or hair color or... Nothing is safe, even when making an off the cuff comment in the presence of an old judge. If I can unintentionally offend the supposedly blind justice I’m totally screwed. Believe me if I was ripping lawyers you’d know, it wouldn’t be so polite; you’d be getting my true feeling based on personal experience (and I’ve never been on the losing side).

Joes Barbecue is the one place I always frequent.

Well, this is interesting... • Dec 13, 2019 12:57 AM

@mayjay You have wholly missed my initial point and completely mischaracterized me in your sensitivity. Sorry bud. I actually considered law school once upon a time.

Well, this is interesting... • Dec 12, 2019 11:06 PM

@mayjay You are correct and OJ is innocent. Still doesn’t give me the warm and fuzzies of an innocent man vindicated. Perhaps you have a better term than legal maneuvering. I didn’t know that was a trigger point. Lesson learned. Lol

@BeddieKU23 Get in where you fit in. There’s plenty of options right by the arena. It’s hard to go wrong.

@BeddieKU23 You absolutely must make it back to Larryville for a game!!! That being said you’ll have an absolute blast watching the Jayhawks! The Sprint Center has a nice court view from most seats. The one time I went we sat in the back row and it had a good time. (Back row isn’t all bad you come in from the top so we were right by the exit with no stairs.) Enjoy my Jayhawk friend!!!

Well, this is interesting... • Dec 12, 2019 02:41 PM

This kind of legal maneuvering doesn’t make my heart all warm and fuzzy. It’s almost an admission of guilt. Can’t prove their innocence so attack the ambush.

I hope Gottfried has a good lawyer who helps clear this up instead of just delaying it again. The investigation has hurt recruiting long enough, its time to get it over with.

CBS running the Self to Spurs rumor again • Dec 12, 2019 02:23 PM

@drgnslayr I bet you’re right. If they’re not going to can him (Id be shocked if he was) then they’ve got to commit to him in a very public way. It’s best for recruiting and probably more importantly big money donors.

Khalil Herbert to transfer to Virginia Tech • Dec 10, 2019 08:23 PM

@Kcmatt7 šŸ‘Œ So VT’s running backs are bad? And he thinks he’ll get playing time there he couldn’t get here. Got it. I’m glad he’s gone if that’s the case. Sounds like he’s got a losers limp. If there’s more to it I’d like to know (but it may be too personal to divulge) so for now he’s just a quitter...and I don’t really blame him KU football is a joke. It’d take a real man to bear the burden of being a KU football player.

Khalil Herbert to transfer to Virginia Tech • Dec 10, 2019 07:39 PM

Kcmatt7 said:

You only get to play college football one time. If the situation isn't right for a player, I have no issues with them going somewhere they think they may be more valued.

What makes you think he wasn’t valued at KU? (Just curious). I was under the impression his sudden redshirt wasn’t even discussed with the coaching staff beforehand. I could see him thinking the grass is greener elsewhere, but he was getting on the field and fed the ball.

CBS running the Self to Spurs rumor again • Dec 10, 2019 06:27 PM

Why would the nba want Self? He’s old.

Khalil Herbert to transfer to Virginia Tech • Dec 10, 2019 06:22 PM

Wish he could’ve left in a way that didn’t leave his teammates high and dry mid season.

Chiefs! • Dec 09, 2019 09:45 PM

@nuleafjhawk I’d agree 100% but feel like he’s being undermined by Belichick in some weird end of career power struggle. Brady has no receivers - Gronk retired, they cut Gordon and headcase Brown and the pats haven’t signed or drafted a decent receiver in awhile either. I think most QBs would struggle there this season.

Milwaukee Panthers - Tuesday - 7pm - ESPN+ • Dec 09, 2019 08:19 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 Maybe a March re-match with Dook so Hurt can be introduced to agony.

Other Games • Dec 09, 2019 08:11 PM

@FarmerJayhawk I’ve only been to a few games outside of Allen Fieldhouse, but not one has been near the atmosphere in Lawrence. I’d just like to experience other ā€œgreatā€ college b-ball arenas to baseline the experience. I’d like the perspective.

Kcmatt7 said:

I was at the game. Doke shot free throws nearly the entire warm-up session. He made most of them. He's trying to get better at them. He cares.

He cares too much. He’s totally screwed. They need to do something to make him relax at the line. Punch him in practice if he does more than take the ball and shoot. No dribbling. No turning the ball over in hand. No staring at the rim. Just shoot it the instant you get the ball Brannen Green style.

Chiefs! • Dec 09, 2019 04:20 PM

I still wouldn’t pick against Brady in the playoffs though. (Unless he’s playing the Chiefs, but that’s homerism)

Chiefs! • Dec 09, 2019 04:19 PM

Top four AFC teams record against each other:

Baltimore 2-1

Texans 2-1

Chiefs 2-1

Patriots 0-3

@HighEliteMajor Even more concerning (to me), did you see him take an 8 footer?!? Don’t do that Dok!!!

His free throws mechanics aren’t good, but his issues at the stripe are mental and only going to get worse at home. Self needs to yell at him to shoot it before he releases every time. šŸ˜

Offense Coming Around.... • Dec 09, 2019 03:10 PM

@drgnslayr I’ll have to pay more attention to Moss, high praise-

ā€œIn the last two weeks or so, I think he’s sliding his feet pretty well and I think he’s become a pretty solid defensive guard,ā€ Self said of Moss. ā€œOne thing that he does do well is that he’s a good block-out guy. Very rarely does he miss a block-out.ā€

Granny Franny says - ehh he’s just a shooter.

F’em. Lol hope Moss keeps improving. He’s really carving out a nice roll.
