Billy Preston Picks Kansas • Nov 18, 2016 09:42 PM

Oh yes he did!!! Welcome Preston, and thanks for being an intricate part of our successful lineup next year.

LaGerald Vick: The New Mr. Elmers • Nov 18, 2016 09:37 PM

He reminds me a bit of Sexton. Looking forward to him flashing and slashing in the future!

Marcus smart • Nov 18, 2016 09:36 PM

I always tried to "sell" a foul when I could, but not to the ridiculous level of Smart. You get within a foot of him, and he's falling down. Glad he's getting a bad reputation for his shenanigans.

Malik Newman • Oct 17, 2016 10:02 PM

If DG stays, where does that leave Young or Sexton? So much to play out before the end of the season, but if we have DG, MN, LV and Svi back, whoa!

The B12 will not expand in the near future • Oct 17, 2016 09:57 PM

Looks like we've made our bed for awhile, and will just have to sleep in it. Ugh.

@KUSTEVE Wonder what us board rats would say if we lost at home to say KSU by 15. All Hell would break loose. LOL

At this point, is rankings worth anything? • Jan 15, 2016 02:56 AM

I think rankings at this juncture only give us an idea of who appears to be the top 8-10 teams, and who the following 10-20 who you need to really watch out for. Other than that, not too much. It's more important to get a high ranking at the end of the season for NCAA seeding IMHO. As Jayhawks, we'll ALWAYS have a target on our back no matter our ranking.

No excuses! Mason • Jan 14, 2016 06:16 PM

I agree with that! Though I was referring to being ready "mentally," and if you're not ready mentally, even a lot of "preparation" may not suffice.

No excuses! Mason • Jan 14, 2016 05:04 PM

Sure CS needs to take some blame, but I'm not sold that he alone is to blame for not getting his team "ready to play." You can only do so much as a coach. These are still young men, and sh*t happens. I was a starter in HS, and during my senior year, my girlfriend broker up with me. REALLY messed with my head, and I know my head wasn't 100% in the game over several weeks. What a wussy, but you know "love." We got back together, and I was back to normal. Who knows what goes on with these young men. Love, School, Playing time, Family, Illness, Injury, etc. Now, if we start having multiple lack of effort games, THEN I will pounce on Self! LOL

Mason's D • Jan 08, 2016 01:18 AM

@Jayrawks1 I agree. But also thought he showed some tough emotions on 3-4 plays in the second half. Like he was either pissed or jazzed. At least he showed SOMETHING! LOL

Mason's D • Jan 07, 2016 09:24 PM

I thought his D was tenacious! The Man gave it everything he had against a solid POY candidate, and that should make us all very proud. I was also proud that PE finally showed a lot of emotion which demonstrates a strong "the will to win." It can be contagious!

The Divide Has Been Drawn • Jan 07, 2016 09:04 PM

IMHO, most every game is about "match ups." We are fortunate to have the IB/C5 to address specific game match ups, which gives us a lot of versatility. No doubt we will see Diallo & Bragg involved in more suitable games, and LL & HM & JT will be involved in other suitable games given the match ups. CD & CB will eventually get more valuable minutes and experience when we play the lesser teams. Hopefully, they will be ready to take more minutes and adjust to tougher match ups sooner rather than later. Either way, I am elated to have IB/C5 this season!

Our record is not good in these situations, and OU can attack from anywhere on the court. Will be a high-flying game, but one we should win if we play anywhere near our talent level. All top 10+ teams are going to lose at least 2-3+ more games this year, so right now, #1 schmumber-one. Rock Chalk!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COACH BILL SELF! • Dec 27, 2015 06:11 PM

Awesome post! Couldn't have said it better . . . except 2 National Championships. LOL Happy B-Day CS, and to a successful ending to 2016!

KU VOLLEYBALL FINAL FOUR! • Dec 13, 2015 04:19 PM

Flipping awesome!!! Go Hawks!

ISU getting whipped at home • Dec 11, 2015 01:19 AM

Legendary status, huh? LMOA A good coach, but NOT legendary.

Hunting Beavers • Dec 11, 2015 01:14 AM

Damn, you're old too! Welcome to the "Seniors Club."

Hunting Beavers • Dec 11, 2015 01:12 AM

I remember #1 ranked Oregon State losing to KSU in the NCAAs in 80-81. Rolando Blackman nailed the winner. What a game that was. THIS, is not that team though. LOL

Self Playing "Whac-A-Mole" • Dec 07, 2015 05:24 PM

@KUSTEVE
Totally agree. Especially that Jamari and Landen are still "dead men walking" in the bigger scheme of things. Be patient with our young freshmen. CS will make sure they get plenty of opportunities to play, learn and prosper as the season wears on. Pulling CD and CB from the Harvard game in favor of Lucas was just one game against a particular opponent.

We Just Got Schooled By Harvard • Dec 05, 2015 10:32 PM

Well, that game was a big kick in the nuts. Let's give huge kudos to Harvard, and be glad they didn't round-house punched us in the face, and knock us out. This was about the worst we could play, let's hope, so it's another teachable moment, and another wake up call to improve moving forward.

What Can We Learn Tonight? • Dec 04, 2015 04:22 AM

Well, that was quite satisfying. UK definitely has talent, but they are still raw, and obviously beatable. I think we will match up against them just fine. Still a lot of ball to be played until then.

What Can We Learn Tonight? • Dec 04, 2015 02:43 AM

Not too impressed with the Kitties so far, but it's still early. Totally agree that we have to be careful not to let them Ken-sucky us into a helter skelter up tempo game.

What Can We Learn Tonight? • Dec 04, 2015 01:55 AM

Not sure. Don't think UCLA can win, but I'm hoping to spot numerous deficiencies in Kentucky's game and talent that will make me feel like the Hawks are true contenders. Comparing positions and style of play to see how we should fare against them in a few months.

What Can We Learn Tonight? • Dec 04, 2015 01:24 AM

I am planning on watching the Kentucky vs UCLA game tonight simply because I hope to use it as a gauge for evaluating our Jayhawks at this early stage of the season. I know their are so many variables, etc. to consider, so I wanted to get my esteemed feathered friend's opinions and thoughts to assist me. Also, any chance the Bruins can keep it close? I'm not convinced.
A Rock Chalk Thank You!

LOYOLA (MD) GREYHOUNDS • Nov 27, 2015 10:48 PM

Spot on regarding the next 3 games. Great opportunity for the team and Diallo to fine tune and mesh their game leading into the Holidays. While CS should start his best players at the time of tip off, Svi, Bragg and Diallo will soon be vying for a spot sometime during the season. Rock Chalk!

F*** ISIS • Nov 17, 2015 05:50 PM

I respectfully disagree with your statement. I'm not defending Obama, just pointing out some facts. Here's another explanation of went down:

Behind Carter's back, the Reagan campaign worked out a deal with the leader of Iran's radical faction - Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khomeini - to keep the hostages in captivity until after the 1980 Presidential election.

This was nothing short of treason. The Reagan campaign's secret negotiations with Khomeini - the so-called "October Surprise" - sabotaged Carter and Bani-Sadr's attempts to free the hostages. And as Bani-Sadr told The Christian Science Monitor in March of this year, they most certainly "tipped the results of the [1980] election in Reagan's favor."

Not surprisingly, Iran released the hostages on January 20, 1981, at the exact moment Ronald Reagan was sworn into office.

The "October Surprise" emboldened the radical forces inside Iran. A politically weakened Bani-Sadr was overthrown in June of 1981 and replaced with Mohammed Ali Rajai - a favorite of Khomeini's. These radical forces today are represented by people like former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, hard-liners who oppose any deal with the United States and, like Khomeini in the 1980s, will jump at any chance to discredit the current moderate presidency of Hassan Rouhani.

The October Surprise also led to the deaths of thousands of innocent people around the world, and in Central America in particular. Reagan took money from the Iranians and used that money to kill nuns in Nicaragua.

F*** ISIS • Nov 15, 2015 03:21 PM

I agree it can seem hypocritical, but I tried to tone it down. Wish I would have taken the high road, and not input my little "zinger." You are correct, and my bad, but I do wish more here would take the high road too. I do get tired of all the "Liberal" bashing here on a "sports site," but my main point is this: When speaking about our political or religious beliefs, do we really have to throw out words like crazies, idiots, pansies, fools, dummies, nut-jobs, morons, a-holes, etc. to describe those we disagree with or don't like? I may defend my side, but I REALLY try not to be outright rude and disrespectful to my fellow Hawks.

Back to Basketball. Rock Chalk!!

Can anyone explain why the NCAA hasn't or can't make an official public statement regarding their position or problems with Diallo? It would sure clear things up immensely, rather than all these rumors or speculations, and driving the KU fan base simply bonkers!!!

F*** ISIS • Nov 14, 2015 10:31 PM

Well folks, here we go again. Another opportunity to demonize and marginalize our fellow Jayhawks based on their political or religious views. Pathetic. But this is free speech, and so it goes.

Yes, WE ALL hate ISIS, and we all should be worried. But is this kubuckets.com or breitbart.com or mediamatters.com? And why is it that it ALWAYS seems to be a Conservative/Republican person who "initiates and interjects" their religious or political comments into this site,? And they do so knowing full well that it is bound to insult fellow Jayhawks? Something in the DNA I guess that makes them want to cast the first stone. Oh well, we Jayhawks have thick skin.

Anyone want to Google the # of terror attacks during Reagan's term, or the Iran-Contra scandal, or his arming and funding Islamic Jihadists Afghans, or his involvement with McCarthyism, or his supporting Apartheid, etc.?

Can we all please, please try to show some respect here when we comment or debate issues? Is that too much to ask? Geesh.

Self Quote • Nov 04, 2015 02:30 AM

IMO Never saw a better player with bent knees, wide stance and explosiveness like one Mr. Darnell Valentine. Would love to see him teach a thing or two to this "team."

Diallo • Nov 03, 2015 10:02 PM

It's "gut-Cheick" time NCCA! Make up your mind, and let's play ball!!!

Hard to say no to taking 3 additional NC, along with 4 missed tourneys over the 15 year span. However, that is in hindsight. And least we forget how good AND lucky teams need to be to win it all. UConn's last NC was deserving, but a HUGE fluke in IMHO. So that's 2 NCs with 4 missed tourneys, etc. Does that change our discussion any?

KU definitely NEEDS more NCs and NEEDS more appearances the the Elites and Final 4s. We all can agree on that!

Wish there was an app for that. That way I could drink all I want, and then just hit the app when I'm sick.

Odds On Diallo • Aug 21, 2015 03:55 PM

Someone enlighten me. What are Diallo's options if he is deemed ineligible by the NCAA? Didn't McLemore not qualify, and just sit out a year. Does Eubanks have to go to a Juco?

My "gut" says we're 18-2 heading into the UK game. My "heart" says 19-1..
My "gut" says we're 27-4 heading into the B12 tour. My "heart" says 28-3.
My "gut" says we're 29-5 heading into March Madness. My "heart" says 31-3.
Not bad either way.

CAN DEVONTE REPLACE NIC? • Jul 17, 2015 07:47 PM

@JayHawkFanToo
Totally agree that one should seek multiple sources for information in order to determine the real facts, quotes, circumstances or context. I certainly try to. Especially in this day and age of "media," where there can be a lot of misinformation and out right lies on the internet . . . like this one: "The problem with internet quotes is that you cant always depend on their accuracy." -Abraham Lincoln, 1864 LOL

And yes, sometimes we can draw different conclusion given the same facts, so it's all good. I have no problem agreeing to disagree, and am always open to info that may debunk what I thought I knew.

WUG Stats And Comparisons • Jul 17, 2015 01:12 AM

Impossible? No. But highly unlikely given his size, and the way the NBA plays the game. It's his lone, but one big disadvantage, as I question how he would fair against other fast but taller NBA PGs. I would love to see him in the NBA, but me thinks he will serve better in other leagues. Hope I'm wrong. The man definitely has the attitude and fight in him to take 'em on!

WUG Stats And Comparisons • Jul 16, 2015 10:30 PM

Interestingly, Darnell Valentine stayed at my house during a weekend break while we were both attending a Jack Hartman BB summer camp. Dude is/was a STUD!

WUG Stats And Comparisons • Jul 16, 2015 10:28 PM

I agree that Mason is one of the best without question, but he needs to work on his attack with the behind the back dribble. Every time he does it, he stops as if to make sure he maintains control. I don't think I've ever seen him make a behind the back dribble when attacking the defense or looking to score. Could be wrong.

CAN DEVONTE REPLACE NIC? • Jul 16, 2015 10:20 PM

@JayHawkFanToo As a Liberal, even I find the PB&J comments made by that Principal quite moronic, and suspect most other liberals would shake their heads in disbelief too. And I won't take offense to your "wacko liberals" comments because 1. I get your humor, 2. you are a Jayhawk brother, and 3. free speech is paramount to this site and our country. However, "extremism" exists among Liberals and Conservatives, and they can be quite scary to those who fall more "centralist" in their politics and practices. That said, your link to Alex Jones' Infowars makes me shake my head in pity because this guy is the King of Conspiracies (most unsupported by facts,) and is quite the "wacko conservative" that many other conservatives find just as appalling. Just sayin'.

Rock Chalk!

BRAGG HAS A BROKEN NOSE! • Jul 02, 2015 10:09 PM

@HighEliteMajor Now that's funny! Least we forget, they do have a leg up on us in some other sports, but BBall, nope. BBall is American born and bread! More specifically, Kansas born and bread! Rock Chalk!!! Anything else I can say with more "!!!!!" ?

I'm loving that Mason seems to be more proactive on distributing the ball. He's obviously a great scorer, but we need more assists from him, and getting others involved. Didn't he have like 11 assists vs Canada?

WAYNE IS OUR #3 - OH HAPPY DAY ! • Jun 27, 2015 01:32 PM

Would have loved to see the game, and am happy too, that Wayne is finally living up to his expectations! We will fair well in the WUG, and explode in the upcoming season. What a great "team" we will have!

Cliff • Jun 26, 2015 10:14 PM

Boy, someone is GRUMPY. Wish you would relax.

You're probably talking about the one where someone posted a pic of their return drive from CO with snowcapped mountains in the Spring, and brooks had to make the snarky comment about Global Warming (as a hoax.) What the heck did that have to do with the topic or thread? I wasn't I who was quick to inject my own political views. I simply countered.

And who was quick to inject their own political view on this thread? Hmm.

BTW - I left the other site (like most of us) due to the angst and rudeness. I love this sight because of all the insightfulness and broad topics, and the fact that it usually omits personal, political or religious angst and rudeness. Sure hope I'm right moving forward.

We're all Jayhawk fans, and I respect you for your KU input and opinions. Let's just let this one go.

Cliff • Jun 26, 2015 09:39 PM

LOL And though I like their acting abilities, how about Val Kilmer and Mickey Rourke? Hard to recognize them these days.

Cliff • Jun 26, 2015 08:39 PM

Apparently you missed my comment on it being Free Speech and this site accepting free speech. I did not dis you, nor did I go off on a liberal tangent. What makes you think "we're" interested in your diatribes?

Cliff • Jun 26, 2015 06:11 PM

@globaljaybird - Unfortunately we now have almost an entire generation that is perfectly content to live off of the diligence & hard work of others.

An "almost entire generation." Wow! It didn't know that. Thanks for informing me of the facts, or is that just your opinion?

Sorry for the soapbox guys. I just get a chuckle when (for really no good reason other than wanting to inject one's personal political or religious beliefs into a thread) someone has to bring up a side issue. Hey, it's a free country with free speech. And this site should accept free speech.

As for me, I try not to offend others when it can easily be avoided. but that's me.

Cliff • Jun 26, 2015 05:58 PM

It looks painfully obvious, that Cliff somehow disenfranchised the NBA GM's, and by doing so, they picked guys (foreign too) less talented and that are 2-3 year projects ahead of him. That says a lot!

Happiness is a Warm Gun (Yes it is) • Jun 23, 2015 07:32 PM

I get the "slippery slope" that if you increase gun controls or laws, some will say their "rights" are being infringed upon, and that we could lose those rights entirely if we take that thinking/concern to the ultimate end game. That's not good, but how many years might it take to "ban" guns entirely, or keep them from law abiding citizens if we take it to its conclusion? Hopefully never, but I suspect many, many, many, many, many, etc.

I also get the "slippery slope" that if you if you do nothing regarding the regulation of guns/weapons, you may get a "wild wild west" society if we take that thinking/concern to the ultimate end game. Is that good? And how many years might it take to have every citizen carry a gun whenever and wherever? I suspect tomorrow if we all submit to living in fear for our safety and self defense enough. What a life that would be. Huh?

There are clearly no easy fixes to our societal problems, and the abuse guns in the wrong hands can cause. I'm not opposed to guns, but we do have a huge problem with them in society, as much as we have a necessity/desire for them. We all have the right to "bear arms," but can we agree that there are some "arms" that should not be made available to the common citizen/public? Where do we draw the line for the types of guns/weapons we have the "right" to bear? Not everything is black or white, but lines should be drawn somewhere, huh?

Background checks and gun registry for EVERY purchaser (in stores, at trade shows, and online,) seems reasonable to me.
