Was listening to Locked on Jayhawk podcast , made sense they were talking improvement on defense. - -Lat year Ku was like 124th out of 131 in Points Allowed per game. They were talking and said if KU

Could cut that down even a touchdown per this year it would take them from 124th to right about 70th or 80th. Still not really good but still nice improvement and could very well be a difference of a couple more wins- -which is very true would make for a nice record

Was listening to a pod cast with Swain & a Mo St guy and sound like their offense struggles, and he even came out and said nothing really impressed him from what he saw this camp. - -Probably run a 2 QB system, and if one get's hot then stick with him but he says IF they get hot lol - -we shall see.

Was watching the 247 weekly Basketball recruiting this Morning and they were saying - -well Eric Bossi was saying not to Count the Jay Hawks out of the Cooper Flagg recruitment just yet, saying he thought it was kinda odd for the other Visits if Cooper was all in on Duke/ Duke lock. Thinks KU will have him on Campus the weekend of Late Night But he will be a Duke for their verson of late night after the KU visit. w

Eric said Coach Self is all in on Flagg and said we have seen what happens when Coach is like that. - -We shall see.

Finkelstein also mentioned that KU was actively looking for another frontliner/big man and was talking about Queen saying don't count them out there either as Queen is athletic enough he could play with another big.

Well Brett McMurphy which is pretty connected to the Big 12 came out and said , that despite numerous reports are that the Big 12 has NOT talked to the Pac 12 Schools that are left about joining and have no desire to talk about expansion.

Has since been brought out on some things People saying that IF the Big 12 thought about these schools could cause friction among the Eastern Schools in the Big 12. -- -UCF traveling To Stanford - -Oregon ? - -not likely. - If anything we need to be looking East. - -stand pat and see how this ACC plays out. - -If Florida St , Clemson leave , your gonna see this league start to crumble, watch teams find new homes. - -would love Louisville , Pitt or VT or NC State would be fine.

Farmer, I guess from what I've been hearing in podcasts and articles read that things have become a little more Serious. I still feel that in the end the ACC will get the votes necessary to where they could extend the offer. However , seen an article late last night that Stanford and Cal said they need an answer by I think it said Monday or Tuesday, as they are looking at other options. - -ESPN is involved and wanting to have the Big 12 as a back up plan in case the offer doesn't come.

Was reading an article last night and ended up listening to a podcast I believe out of Oregon where people could call in and they had some insiders hosting the podcast and they asked all of them in the end how did they think it was going to end. - Their response was that in the end they don't think the offer will ever be extended. Something I didn't know is that actually there are SIX Schools in the ACC that are against expansion , the only reason we aren't hearing more of that is that it only takes four to keep them from expanding. - -Right now the four biggest names against the expansion is N Carolina , NC State , Clemson , & Florida State. - -They said they believe that if the offer was going to happen , it would of already happened by now.

Like I mentioned before so IF they land or want to, then Stanford & Cal also is bringing or wanting to bring Washington & Oregon St.. BY , had said that the Big 12 was happy with the number they had , that we were done with expansion. -The answer I'm still looking for IS how does adding FOUR MORE Schools add to the value of our league other then maybe a little more stability.

They bring no Brand , and like they were mentioning last night scheduling becomes a night mare, and you have trouble with your Olympic sports like Basketball , Volleyball , Baseball, just headaches. - Where is the Value, how do they help improve our league athletically? -If any thing adding MORE teams dilutes the league, because we have been known with the BEST Conference in the Nation in Basketball these teams, Stanford , Cal , Washington St , Oregon State , Arizona St - these teams suck. in Basketball and only average in football and would detract value in that respect from the league - - not add - -just not a vey wise business decision. I just don't think this is going to happen BUT more reports coming out about the POSSIBILITY , saying reports surfaced today that Stanford and Cal have still not been invited yet to the ACC. - -Reports are that Florida State is holding them up - -ACC needs one more vote and not getting it, Florida St still wanting more revenue.

The overall word is the ACC seems to think they will get's the votes to extend the off to Stanford & Cal, another reports saying that hoping might hear something by Monday or Tuesday. ,Reports saying that if they haven't heard by the middle of the week , if nothing has changed then Stanford and Cal's talk with the Big 12 becomes more serious, as I guess there has been some talks between them/

If these talks are true it just really contradicts what Yormork had been saying, saying the Big 12 were through in re-alignment, they were wanting to stay at 16 , they were happy with that number.

I myself still say along with others that these teams bring nothing athletic wise /brand to improve our conference, and has been mentioned when you go to a 20 and posible 20 team conference.team conference you really have a dilemma becomes a real task in scheduling. as the big 10 is finding out

Having said all this if that's what our Commish thinks is a good thing so be it - I guess we shall see, really think they WILL get things straightened out though and become ACC memebres. The Article said though Stanford and Cal is a much better fit with the Big 1 - - which I agree , like I mentioned it makes 100 % no sense for them to travel Coast to Coast geographically the expense the fly time and all is not beneficial.

The last thing brought out in the Article was if Stanford & Cal do end up in the Big 12 I guess it said they would be bring Washington State & Oregon State with them - -I guess we will see things could get insane, if these 4 come basically then the final result is the Big 12 practically merged with the Pac 12 -which we thought would neve happen

Not really. The pro rata still exists. I’m all for Stanford. Boosts most sports in the league and the sports the Big 12 doesn’t have they already have parked in other leagues nobody’s heard of. Maaaaybe would also induce the Big 12 into adding wrestling, which KU should be very competitive if we do it right. Plus academics. Yeah I’ll own being the nerd that still cares about such pursuits 😂

these other sports are non revenue sports, Football & then follow that up with your basketball brands ar what they are looking at. These other sports just do not do anything or much to help your brand. - -You figure the travel expense for these teams to compete in a sport that's not bringing in money - -just doesn't make sense. That's why in some of these possibility of re-alignment these are big issues they have to consider.

That's also why I said for Stanford & Cal to travel clear across the nation to join the ACC is a Geographical disaster. - for them t travel Coast to Coast to Wrestle - - Volleyball i nonsense you losing money not making money. - Standford and Cal is best to join the Mountain West or go Independent.

just got through listening to Lance's weekly meeting, and a couple of things that I took away.

1st he did a pretty good job of answering without getting specific , but I'm just starting to get this feel and that is Don't be surprised if JD 6- -doesn't start next Friday , may not play at all. Coach didn't say that, but yet really didn't come out and say much at all when ask , just said he is doing more, concerning his back issues.

Then he promptly follows that up a short time later talks about how Jason has had a really good camp . -Could be 1000% wrong believe it or not YES I have been wrong before, yes I know , I know as hard as that seems to believe lol I can be wrong. -So just getting this feel that he is not ready , now do we need him next Friday ? - -More likely then not we don't , the only reason we need him would be so he could ge reps. He has been pretty limited would be nice for him to get some live reps in. - We might just hold him out and try to make sure he is ready the following week against Illinois. - -I reckn could still go one way or another, but just guessing as of Today , the way Coach acted didn't really give a lot of update is , I think decent chance he doesn't go. Hope I'm wrong.

Then real briefly here Coach was asked about this whole idea on the NIL and how some States are offering high School kids as soon as they sign & we know who the subject was pointed at hen they brought this up. Well FWIW ,read an Article from Vernon on the hearings. - said he had heard that the findings very likely would be , could be given within
a week , like around the 28th of August /to Sept 1st-- Saying also that if penalties are to be given he thinks the NCAA would not have any problem handing them out over the Labor day weekend Holiday , he also think they will not be very severe.

The interesting part ?- - - Well Vernon said that after reading a report that he had gotten ahold of that Reading Self's Attorney's 77 page response to the Amended follow up from the NCAA notice - -Vernon found something that hadn't been widely reported outside a few local articles.

The information he found/saw refuted the level of Allegations that Bill Self did not promote an atmosphere of Compliance.
Vernon said Do you remember the Mystery Car Accident from Billy Preston ? - well Coch Self received an anonymous tip that Billy had accepted Money from Cassnola , as soon as Self heard then he immediately reported the information to a Senior Athletic Dept offical , the KU and it's outside Counsel filed a self report immediately to the NCAA .

Because Bill Self personally reported the Preston incident - -Billy was declared ineligible & never played for KU. - Vernon says that if the Attorney statements is true then they would have a very hard time trying to prove atmosphere of compliance. - The statement also Corroborates Gassnola sworn testimony that he had took numerous steps to hide payments from the University of Kansas and Coach Self

I think what we REALLY need to be worrying about is the Defensive Line - the overall Defense.- - BUT we can't stop a cold then we screwed , not gonna matter if we are at 3rd and 2 - -3rd and 5 - -3rd and inches. we can not continue to try and have to outscore people, that just doesn't cut it. - Our Defense has to stand up , make a stand.

It's like Swain & Kevin were talking the other day, Our Defense has to be better then what I think they said 106 th ?We have to be able to get off the field be able to stop the run- -be better anyways. They were talking and saying you already know what Illinois wants to do -they are gonna play bully ball. Run , Run , Run if you can't prove you can stop the run then you are screwed.

We have to get to a point as to where Jalen and the offense' doesn't feel they have to score every time that we have the ball because the defense isn't stopping squat. that just adds way to much pressure om Jalen and the Offense to score EVERY TIME. That just isn't gonna get it done However I do think the defense will be better if nothing else because we are bigger , stronger and developing more.

I think good things coming, time for us to show we can line up and compete on bothe sides of the line, and I think we have the pieces to do that now.

I'm in Topeka we had 120 heat index yesterday - -saw where Lawrence had a heat index yesterday of 134 - -Lawrence had a 126 heat index today - -Holton was at 130 - -this heat and humidity has been oppressive

See where Coach Self is after Sebastian William Adams- -6'7 220 lb Forward out of Houston Texas , Ranked # 28

Other Schools involved are Texas , Texas A & M , Tenn - - -then KU. - - said seeing as how KU is the only Non SEC School listed he must be pretty serious about KU

Read an article and saw that Vyctorius Miller is planning on taking an official visit to KU - no specific date but chances are in October some time. Has already visited un offically.

Other Schools involved is LSU - -Gonz - - & USC . Other visitors planning on visiting during off Season are : - -Jalil Bethea , Billy Richmond , Jared Harris , & Emmanuel Stephen

Was listening to Swain & Flarrety do their round up on fall camp. - -Had what sounded like encouraging things. -Talked about different positions. some of the pieces were :

Offensive side was that in the running back room , things were pretty quiet which is a good thing, came out without really any injuries. . Jalen said not to worried at this point, will be able to get a b etter read by Wednesday when Coach talks again. Swain was asked about Jalen and his back tightness, he said he just couldn't really gauge a read, saying he had ask Jalen if there were a game Saturday could/would he play, and of Course Jalen said yes, but like he said what would you expect him to say. Swain saying not too worried yet will be able to tell more later this week. and he was probably at a 30 % chance of being worried.

They said they were feeling really god about WR room and Tight Ends - Saying that Taylor Wilson had had a really good camp nd that Trevor Kardell really good camp and Kardell was good because originally was brought in s a WR and has adapted well to TE - just adding depth at the position.

Talked about the O-Line saying they felt they had added quality depth and thought they could be able to rotate 8 deep and be fine

On the defensive side , the D-Line they mentioned some guys and saying they were feeling better about the D-Line then before not feeling a shaky. Talking about Devin Phillips having a really good camp at the NT position really liked him. - - - feeling better Dunn & Whithers having good camps , Then Booker they said had a GREAT CAMP , feeling like Booke could very easily step in and take over the othe Defensive end position opposite end from Robinson.. Talking about the buzz around camp could not be better. Talked about how they felt the D-Line could hold up better which will be huge.

Talked about how J B Brown having an incredible camp gonna see a lot of minutes on the field -talked about how this kid can speed squat 600 pounds - -holy crap. -talking about better team speed at LB being able to get to the outside and make the play-- thinks we very well could see possibly the combination of Berry Hill , J B Brown - & Young at the same time really good speed .

Talked about they felt the Safeties were going to be better with growing consistency & have some quality depth and having Grant - - Logan - -& Burroughs

Finished up talking about Special teams and how important it was for improvement , ranking like 126th last yr, and talking about just having special teams not getting us beat in games - -don't let our special teams beat us. - -We were dreadful in Special teams, they talked about even if we could go like from 126 to 60th or 70th just be an average Special team
Said our Auzzie will probably be our starting kicker. - - our special team we only the opposing team only took 11 fair catch's on our punts last yr- - - ELEVEN, and giving up close to twenty yards on returns. that is going to catch up to you sooner or later in a game

I'm stoked - -Ready for some football - -hope Jalen can go. - - - -only 11 days to go - - - -ROCK CHALK let's do this

just read an Article from fan sided. - They said they didn't think Hunter will be back for his Super Senior yr. Said chances were slim before Flory. They said they fuly believe that KU & Coach Self wouldn't of wwent all in on Flory if Hunter was returning, just don't see Hunter and Flory playing together.

They seem to believe that Flory will be a one & done and just think he wouldn't get that much of a chance to improve his game if Hunter was coming back and that they think Flory is looking at major minutes for KU next yr at the 5. - -I have thought myself even BEFORE Flory that Hunter is here for jsut the one Season. they just pretty much confirming what I think and what the Coaching staff just might know - -Hunter won't be back. - -Just think they probably told Flory he was going to be the 5 next year, just don't think Flory would of committed if he thought Hunter was coming back.

I guess I'm the eternal optimist . The call me stupid homer , I agree with you on the defense this yr , and do think we will be better. Our defense has been bad for awhile, but it's coming. We have the pieces

We will be better this year and as you say I fully believe this - - I believe this with my entire Crimson and Blue heart .I think and really do believe that in two years, If these guys commit to Gildersleeve & continue to develop , I 100 % think this defense can e really ugly good, I mean rip your head off good - -you wil know when they hit you , you've been hit

If we can keep these guys that has verbaled to us and commit in December , . the staff has went out and gotten some really good talent You can see they focused ALOT on the defensive side AND that the pieces needed are there. yes it will take a couple of years , but if they buy into the staff - - commit - - look the hell out
