I like playing Kentucky, especially since we have beat them a lot the last 5 years but I also think the game would mean less and less if it was played every year with being in different conferences. I personally think Cal is scared to come back to Allen and I think we have played them like 7 of the last 10 year or something around that. I like that Missouri is in personally, the rivalry will never be what it once was, which stinks IMO. But I think it would be a cool game to play every 2 or 3 years. Personally the KSU rivalry doesn't do it for me. I think it's gotten more intense since we stopped playing Missouri but it's like beating our little brother that gets cocky.
I kind of lost that edge of K-State being a rival since we went on that streak and beat them like what - 21 yrs in a row or somewhere in that neighborhood at Bramlege - In order for it to be a rivalry the other team needs to win more then once or twice in a decade - I think Missouri will always be a rivalry - -maybe not like when they were in the Big 12 but still feels so good to beat their ass

We play Kentucky every three years in the Champions Classic. We have played them every season in the last four seasons, and we will see them next season in Chicago for the Champions Classic again. That's five of six seasons to face one non-conference opponent. That's a lot.
I am all for playing UK once every few years in the Big 12/SEC Challenge as long as the Champions Classic is going because we will play them once every three years in that anyway. We aren't ducking them. They aren't ducking us. But it doesn't make sense for the same two programs to play in the Big 12/SEC Challenge every year from a marketing perspective. I want to see Tennessee. I'd like another shot at Auburn. A matchup with Mizzou at some point would be fun. Arkansas could be interesting. Maybe LSU. We haven't seen a single one of those teams and the challenge has been going for six years. We finally get Tennessee. The whole idea is to see different teams in non-conference. Not always the same team
I agree. - - Missouri is finally in the Challenge , why not play them - -you talk about a rivalry couldn't ask for much more - -well at least they used to be. - - Sure not on Kentucky level - -but so what? - -something new - like you mentioned playing the same team Kentucky or not - - ehhhhh. - -loses some of the luster for me.
I would love us to play Auburn again - - I would like to play LSU - -not saying never play Kentucky in the challenge again - - just play some one else for a change - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Well I'll discuss this topic a little more , I know I've talked about this multiple times so I apologize.
Just read where Kyree is close to making his decision about re-classifying to 2019 OR staying in 2020. I know seems to be a lot of discussion about Kyree jumping and going over sea's most think it's a done deal or a lot of people think that way. - -Kyree on the other hand is denying that - I wouldn't want to bet on it one way or another.
People know how much I like Kyree. - -Kid is a beast - - has no position can play 1-4 probably so they say anyways - massive hops. - -So anyways obviously if KU still has interest then obviously we have to have him stay in the class of 2020 right? - -as we have no more spots available for 2019. - -So let me ask IF he does stay in 2020 - we still recruit him hard right? -- or do we just say Blah on the assumption he is a done deal for over sea's ?
I think you have to attack him hard - -we could for sure use him big time - I would love to have him. - -What would you do/say? - -What you think Coach will do? - - I want him - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
Well rea where we got yet ANOTHER commit for the 2020 class today - which makes our 22nd for the recruiting season - Glad to see - but yet kinda of disappointing in a way I guess.
Daniel Hishaw Jr - - A 5'10 207 pound listed as Athlete - playing for Moore in Oklahoma committed after our 1 day camp - -he has been seen a being used on both sides of the ball - -on the offensive side has played some QB and has been listed some as running back - -but also recruiting people say think he would be better on the defensive side of the ball - glad to pick him up
However with us at now 22 scholi's - -I think that pretty wwell wraps it up for any Chance at Ashaad. - probably going to LSU anyways but was hoping - -also wonder how this effects TJ Rush's recruitment with him visiting this weekend and everyone feeling that he was going to commit? - where are we getting the Scholi's from I think we are at our limit. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Well Jayden released a statement about KU last night I see. - - He said he had been given his release from KU and was re-opening his recruitment. Saying he had been given his release from KU
Jayden said that he was told that his ACT might be flagged because of the jump of his ACT of 10 points. Also saying that 2 days before he was scheduled to move in he was notified that he might not want to do that because of his ACT being flagged - -I guess this was his 3rd test score when it showed the jump?
Saying if he reported that he might have to give back everything he was given or pay back - not sure what that means but - - -saying that they had already recruited another guy in his place. - - Jayden saying he is fully qualified - but now looking at other options - -however he may not be able to playD-1 ball this season - it goes on to explain why he might not be able to.
So rumor were true - - had heard someone else took his test -- not sure about all that but - -it was his test that was causing problems just like had been said - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

@jayballer73 David McCormack will play more at the 4 this season than Jalen Wilson will at the 3.
And no, David McCormack is not a true 5, he's a traditional style 4. At the college level, most traditional 4's do play the 5 because true 5's are an endangered species in modern basketball. In Self's time at KU, he's only had four true 5's come through the program. Sasha Kaun, Jeff Withey, Joel Embiid, and currently Udoka Azubuike. Other's who have manned that spot have typically been traditional style 4's playing alongside a stretch 4.

@Texas-Hawk-10 Doke was still the focal point last season when he was available. Self said we still were playing through Doke and he had a higher usage rate than Dedric. Doke is what he is. He’ll be about 13/7/2 and shoot a stupid percentage. And he’ll be a frustratingly poor rebounder for his size. He and Dave have very similar career rebounding rates.
I’ll be really surprised if Dave plays much, if any 4. Self has almost never played 2 not quick bigs together. Closest parallel I can think of is Joel and Tarik, who almost never played together. Jamari got almost all the backup 4 minutes (he actually played more than Tarik that year.) He’s much preferred a guy with some skill and quickness (e.g. Shady, Perry, Billy, Dedric). So it would be a big trend break for Bill to go down that road. And I don’t think Dave can guard many 4’s. He’s just not quick enough laterally. If Bill sticks to form, he’ll play Jalen or Tristan at the backup 4. Dave exclusively at the 5.
ya I just don't see Dave playing any 4 either - I think he is a true 5
Texas Hawk 10 said:
@jayballer73 8 maybe, 9 no, unless you want to keep ignoring 16 years of history. Only way 9+ players get 10+ mpg will be because of injuries just any other season that has seen 9+ players in that range.
Ignoring that I think those minutes projections were low for Silvio and Dave and high for Wilson, did you happen to notice that minutes projection for Wilson fit with him being a 4 and not 3 like you keep thinking will happen?
super he can play at both - -and will for sure - -thus there is your 13 minutes but you have wore this out you just hold fast with your thought - & I'm gonna stay fast with mine - -there will be 9 players with quality minutes - -staying put with that too Watch
Texas Hawk 10 said:
@FarmerJayhawk Doke's mpg seems about right. I think he does play around 27 mpg and I think Silvio and Dave's minutes are low though. I think all 3 of them between 25-30 mpg. I think Silvio could possibly top 30 mpg. Silvio and Dave are both good enough FT shooters that pulling Doke in those crunch time moments shouldn't be a big deal.
@Marco Why would Bill Self suddenly change from 16 years of history and habits? And no, that projection is not a 10 man rotation, it's still an 8 man rotation. For clarity's sake, a rotation level player is someone who typically plays 10+ mpg, not less. Tristan Enaruna at 3-7 mpg is not rotation level minutes. That's him getting spot minutes because of foul issues or someone needing a quick breather before a TV timeout.
did you happen to see Jalen's projected minutes? - - like I was saying - he gonna get quality minutes - this is even higher for me - -still saying 12-14 minutes a game - - not 5-7 like you trying to say. - -Watch.
Texas Hawk 10 said:
@Marco Self has never gone more than 8 deep when there's been no injury issues. Even the 2008 title team which was probably the deepest team Self has ever had only had an 8 man rotation. Don't expect that to change starting this year.
you'll see 8-9 players with quality minutes this year
