@wissox I unfortunately think those days are coming with the transfer portal and NIL. I feel we will be lucky if Self is here in 5 years. According JB @ Syracuse Jay, Roy and K all retired because of it.

@BeddieKU23 will be interesting with the NIL especially in football if they try to make players play in bowl games. One of the key reasons I’m glad they are expanding the playoffs. I still laugh at KSUCK fans that brag for beating LSU with 38 players and no coach.

@DCHawker I’d bet my life without question that all of them don’t get left out. At this point it is very debatable if they belong in. I’d say Dook is the only one deserving of a bid currently. But TV and ratings matter, Oklahoma got in a few years with Trae Young tho they were in 70s in nearly every rating system in America.

@jayballer67 for sure , people want to give Self and us KU fans jazz about our short comings make me laugh. Look at how many more top recruits and draft picks UNC, UK and Dook get over us.

@jayballer67 Dook has a better record both over all and in conference. Is 29th in the Net and has 3 Quad 1 wins with 3-7 record in those games. Plus they just beat UNC.

How UNC is still on the 9 line coming into tonight is baffling. They are 44th in the Net Rankings with 1-7 record vs quad 1 teams. It would be crazy for a team that returned everyone from the NC game to miss it but they don’t have the resume. I think Dook and UK get in at this point.

@Jethro I don’t think Juan lacks awareness in the slightest. I think he’s got a high basketball IQ and that saves him from how limited he is athletically, his long arms help a lot too. That being said Juan ain’t beating anyone in a foot race or a 3 cone shuffle in the conference. I trust in coach Self, doesn’t mean I agree with everything he does either.

@Jethro I think Juan works hard but don’t think he is D1 sorry maybe I’m wrong but I don’t he starts at any other power 5 program without question.

@Woodrow I hate to put down a young man but Bobby’s defense makes me stand up and walk away from the TV at times. Some of his passing does the same. They have started having Others bring up the ball to help Juan with wearing. Which I personally don’t get these guy should be in the best shape of their lives and want to go to the NBA and try to play 80 games a year. I remember going to school, playing sports and working at that age in my life most mornings getting up and running 3 miles before the day even started. Not sure if we are missing Hudy or what but it’s barely February we need up our conditioning if we are already too tired to play.

The end of the season will be rather boring in B12 country without a KU victory.It’s an odd feeling from the stand point that the rest of the conference will be pulling for us. A Texas win and they have conference championship pretty much locked up. A win for us gives about 5 teams hope for the crown.

@BeddieKU23 I think this is where the NIL could help us. Think of guys like Josh Selby dude has a ton of potential and showed it a few times. Got a stress fracture the second half of the year, fell off most draft boards went second round and disappeared. He pretty much had to go with his family living in poverty. If that was today he could get a hundred thousand and stay then move to a lottery pick. I personally think dick stays another year.

KJ is a great kid and is the most improved player in the country. I think is the strongest and most athletic on our team. If he hits the gym working on his shot he will be a lottery pick as a 3 or 4 by the time he leaves. Great article

Assessment of this team is simple.
Juan Harris- is not a division 1 player, wasn’t when he got here and won’t be when he leaves. He would not start at any other B12 school right now. Could be a serviceable backup which he ending up being to Remy in last seasons tournament.
Gradey Dick- has had a solid freshman season still has to learn how to move without the ball and put it on the floor more often. Defense is average but is young Will break out his slump at some point hopefully tomorrow.
Kevin McCullar- is the same exact player he was at Tech last season his stats are almost identical. He’s got to be hitting shots to be effective because Jwil can’t do all the scoring. I don’t think he starts on any B12 team outside of WV, OU and Okie light.
Jalen Wilson- Having an all-American type season, forces too many shots imo but I don’t blame him because no one else is aggressive on that end most of the time. Defensively he struggles moving laterally but rebounds well.
KJ Adam’s- having his best season if this kid was 6’10 he’d be an all-American. That being said you don’t have to guard him more than 6 foot away from the hoop. He struggles against taller post player’s defensively. No way he starts at the 5 @ any other B12 school.
The bench is young and inexperienced would like to see Bobby play less not sure why Self is so high on him. MJ has trouble with injuries and it’s killed his development for this season. Udeh should be getting more minutes and will with other bigs hurt. Joe is hot or Icey cold depending on the day. Basically I’m saying we don’t have the horses in this league plain and simple. When is the last time KU had several starters that wouldn’t start at most of the other teams in the conference? Bill Self knows it too, that’s why he waived the white flag with the 4 game suspension trying to get infractions case resolved. The good news we have seen how KSU completely reloaded to a top 10 team using the portal, either way we have to get some guys in the door. To quote one of my coaches after we got beat by a 5a school as a 2a school “You can have the fastest Jack ass in the world and they won’t let him run with the thoroughbreds in the Kentucky Derby for a reason” we don’t have horses right now. That’s okay we did just win a national title.

Some people are upset that NFL players are honoring a guy that sexually assaulted a 14 year old and went to her house against a restraining order probably to threaten her to drop charges (imagine how she must feel guess y’all don’t have daughters). You got shows on Netflix about twerking 10 year olds mostly naked, some show full frontal nudity. Epstein's victims continue to see no justice while elites cover it up. Cardi B singing songs about eating a and wet p**y is platinum and award winning music. You have a 100 sex slaves freed in pedofile ring thats getting almost zero national media coverage. LeBron James is fine with Chinese people he makes millions off of being oppressed. People with the loudest voices from the biggest platforms are drowning out voices that need heard the most right now.

@mayjay speaking of betting lol, I’ve considered putting money on coastal this weekend. Don’t think I’ve ever bet against KU before. Another hot take I bet on Arkansas State beating the +11 they were on KSU. They’ve already played a game and I think with our spring ball that’s a huge advantage.

The war paint and chop I get but not sure the name is an issue. The mascot is a wolf not an Indian or anything. My aunt by marriage is a full blood Indian and probably one the biggest chiefs fan Ik. She thinks it’s all PC crap. The Redskins should’ve been changed years ago as should the Cleveland Indians but I don’t think the chiefs or Braves are an issue. If you go that far we have change the name of police and fire chiefs as well at that point.

A lot of familiar faces on offense with the biggest question marks being up front and the QB position. Miles came out today and acted as if they could use both guys during the opener. I really liked last seasons approach of sticking with one guy and not benching him after a few bad series or games like in the past.
Defensively I’m pretty excited about the linebackers. More talent and depth than we have had in years IMO. Lots of questions up front and in the secondary with the guys lost to graduation.

@mayjay Stephen A was blowing and going about how it was white privilege. I’ll say that I was hoping for Vaughn and you could make a good case for it. But let’s be logical here for a moment. The Nets have 2 at least top 20 players on that roster. They had a big say in whom was gonna get hired. Inside sources say they wanted Nash.
