@jayballer67 I’ll be honest he just isn’t any good. He’s weak, slow, can’t dunk at 6-10 and isn’t a Lightfoot or Tanner Groves type. His shot looks good just doesn’t go in much. I’d wager he transfers

Anyone feel Udeh should get more run but will disappear to the bench if Zuby is healthy? Seems like whenever a guy plays well unexpectedly we don’t see them again like we as fans would like (think zac and ou last year).

Mj didn’t do much but he’s an athlete and I think can contribute more than Joe

Bobby spent more time at the 2 than 1. His minutes at the 1 were okay but think he gets passed by our incoming guards next year

Jalen brought the ball up a lot and handed it off to Juan to negate their fake pressure. JW could play point like Royce White

Kj back to over his 15 ppg with Juan and Kevin scoring it changed this team. Those 3 are the most important on the team.

Jw and Gradey normally get there’s but if the other 3 play poor we lose

Guys dug in defensively like many above suggested and we boarded extremely well which allowed us to run like @Jethro said. I agree when we board and can run we are at our best.

Without Juan we’ve looked bad (TN) yet he’s been bad lately because teams aren’t guarding him on the pick and roll. They go under and make sure to cover KJ so he doesn’t have 15-20 pg. Ever since this change the O has been bad.

Joe can attempt to be Remy but isn’t the same.

Bobby has 1-2 bright spots and otherwise been underwhelming.

On this we pretty much agree. The pieces are almost there, just need a few tweaks. If it were me, I'd ride Udeh as the backup big, swap Yes for Bobby as the off guard, and play Juan just 2-3 minutes per half less and let Bobby run point. Nothing crazy, just a few minor tweaks.

@Jethro - please refer to the above for how to have a basketball discussion. Here is farmer saying what he’d tweak. Now we don’t need to act like we are 12 and assume farmer thinks he knows more than Bill. Your tweaks are exactly what I’ve outlined minus the udeh part. Playing udeh now is Bill admitting he should have been playing him earlier in my opinion because we got no choice and need standing height.

I do agree with udeh or Zuby but prefer udeh due to his height. Zach doesn’t need to see the floor.

@approxinfinity Yeah we view Juan differently. Juan was the sixth most impactful player on that roster last year. He sat the final 8-10 minutes for a reason. Both are true we don’t win a title without Juan yet Juan wasn’t a top 3 reason we won a title.

He is billed this year as the most underrated guard in America yet averaging 7 ppg. He has to score for this team to be good and he isn’t good at scoring. He has Chris Paul vision but even Chris Paul in college can go get 20-30 when his team couldn’t throw it in the ocean.

Self’s blind spot is evident with his comments raving about Juan and how he doesn’t lose in all their summer games lol.

Juan is a phenomenal kid and overcame a lot. Me outlining him playing poorly isn’t a knock on his character or as a person, just talking about the hawks and the game. Juan could care less what I or anyone thinks except his teammates and coaches.

Bobby billed as the next great KU guard has not been good. Juan doesn’t have the stamina to play every minute yet Bill doesn’t trust the bench or want Bobby running the show (can’t blame him). Yet we keep losing with Juan playing almost the entire game.
This has to change and he needs to let Bobby run the show more even though he is clearly worse than Juan.

Fresh Juan the final 5 minutes is better than a tired Juan who turns it over, has a loose handle and is out of control.

We got some decent pieces to make a run but it’s going to be tough. Pick and roll with Juan and kj teams know how to defend. Gradey they face guard, Kevin’s too scared to shoot and our bench is atrocious. JW does his best Superman attempt and we almost beat the kitties.

We got some tough losses ahead but if we can get back to how we played against mu or iu we will be just fine in March

@FarmerJayhawk neenyo is a clown. Hates on JW as JW just goes off these last few games carrying us scoring from everywhere.

He thinks Dick can manufacture his own shot it’s comical. Gradey scores on catch and shoot threes and his pump fake to mid range game which Baylor’s guys recovered so he didn’t get the shot off much.

He did same last year with Ochai and Braun when Ochai was clearly the guy and better shooter.

Bobby needs to play the 1 more and not play alongside Juan.

Yes, Juan is a champion, so is Teahan. This years team is different than last years so not sure why we are referencing last year. Juan’s role last year versus this year is completely different.

Bill has to get Juan more rest he doesn’t have the stamina to get it done for 35 minutes a night. Bobby needs to be the sub for him and Joe/rice for the wings (granted Rice doesn’t understand simple defensive principles as Bill’s stated plus other credible insiders on this board)

KJ has been bad these last 2 games (coincides with teams figuring out how to guard our pick and roll which is dare Juan to shoot and he won’t or when he doesn’t it isn’t well)

Gradey - he’s growing and battling hard on D and the boards when his shot isn’t falling like the last few games

Kev - struggled badly but last night was better a double double. Hopefully out of his funk

Bobby - awful - needs to be the backup pg not first wing off the bench. He and Juan play together and the lead increases just like it has the last 3 games. 4 guys who can’t score, 2 don’t even look to shoot or even drive the lane and JW

Juan spurred the comeback with his D but also stepped out of bounds almost costing us late as he sat the last 8-10 minutes as Remy took over.

Juan is an Alex smith type pg. He needs everyone around him to be great to “lead” them to victory. He can’t go manufacture offense on his own.
