@drgnslayr More likely, Penn State.
@Crimsonorblue22 He was in street clothes on the bench, looking all pouty and sad, enough to make his mommy cry, no doubt.
@ralster Fisher. Played AAU ball with Vick, I think.
@RockChalkinTexas Probably got snookered by auto-complete on her phone.... Been known to happen to even the best! And I am obviously getting old. Read your post, thought, "So, what is wrong? Hmmm....it LOOKS wrong. What is it? OHHHHH!!!"

No, they were just expecting LL's 15/17!

I remember this broken record from the past. How in the heck were we ever going to compensate for losing Archie Marshall?
Didn’t we tap the football team that year for Clint?
@wissox He probably also got used to some champs in that conference back when he played....they had one or two. Each year.
How about Bryce Alford? Didn't his FT bricks in Lexington almost cost them the UK game?
@blackmild33 I have not been impressed with ESPN's credibility since they decided 7 pm (6, Central time) basketball games on Big Monday only take 1 hr 45 min to complete, so we always miss the beginning--and more, if OT. Football? Only 3 hrs, scheduled, come hell or high water or timeouts.
It has changed me into someone wanting blowouts, which sort of ruins watching non-KU games as a general bb fan.

Do like we did the Royals and vote all the NBA JAYHAWKS IN
Heck, vote all the Royals in again!
I feel like I am stuck in a 15 hour ping-pong rally between two Chinese champions. Both are trying to make killer points, each defends, the aggressor role switches to the other one. Both using so much energy that the audience is even exhausted.
Can I interject a little something? You both agree that Self recruited Hield--actively, perhaps, but not as aggressively as he would have if he had seen something in his game foreshadowing his 4th year superstar leap. This certainly has to contradict the original point of contention, that HCBS did not recruit foreign players for about a decade.
Unsuccessfully, but recruited enough to go to his games and offer him. Counts as being recruited if Coleby does.
Anyway, thanks for all that exchanged info. The details you both added were interesting. But you aren't really arguing over substance as much as you are subtle language distinctions!
@jayballer54 Oh. From alleged KU fans on the other board? Say it ain't so!

By the way, with your new knee (knees?), your conception of yourself has to be revised. You are, on average, younger than your years. Merry Christmas!
@Crimsonorblue22 I am not willing to forgive him for his Puerto Rico antics. I would be willing to if he ever admitted he was wrong.
Much much worse to me as an indicator of character was how he treated Steve Alford for being willing to take the IU job. It really did seem like he thought Alford should sacrifice his own future because Knight (yeah, I called him that, think he'll come scream at me?) felt he was so wronged.
Both incidents, and many more, pretty much seem like the acts of someone who thinks his --- don't stink much.
@JayHawkFanToo @justanotherfan In my role as spectator, I believe you both have made excellent points, but both of you generalize about the motives of the Founders and of the people in each region. Not everything can be viewed through lenses focusing on results as if they had single causes or as if the actors had united beliefs one way or the other.
Neither of you addressed what to me is the most important fact in all this: If the 3/5 clause were solely due to racism, then free blacks would not have counted more than slaves in either the North or South. This suggests that the Convention was more concerned about the number of slaves in the South than about their race.
On the other hand, the fact is that over time, the Clause was used by many bigots to denigrate blacks. I have personally heard people cite it as "proof" that blacks are not equal to whites. That those people are idiots is unimportant, because they press their views just as much as anybody. Like the Confederate battle flag, 3/5 is an historical relic which, although perhaps not accurately, nevertheless symbolizes one race's lengthy holding of another race in bondage.
Technicalities are important in law and science. In culture clashes, symbols are much more important, and awareness of millions of persons' sensitivities does not require corrupting one's soul. Truth contains both fact and belief.
@RockChalkinTexas As always, your grace in the face of adversity astonishes and inspires us all.
Incidentally, a heads-up: We lost my father in law 3 days before Christmas a decade ago. The funeral director was very adamant about our need to make sure someone stayed at the house during all the funeral activity. Apparently there are some real low lifes who specialize in burglarizing houses after perusing obits for times of services. And Christmas is also a hot season since bad guys know there might be some boxed stuff just ripe for the taking. Five years ago I had a cousin whose parents' house was hit during their funeral.
I wish you only the best. The love people are sending you reflects the fact that you send it all out to everyone. A lesson for us all!
@globaljaybird I edited it. My wording reflected long time exposure to blood collections, where the donors are different......
I had a bone graft before a dental implant using donor tissue. The oral surgeon made sure I knew where it came from--I had a choice between artificial, bovine, my own (i.e., from the hip), or donor tissue. He believed donor tissue was most effective, at least of the three that didn’t involve gouging my hip. In these cases I think it is actually ground up, the organic material is removed, and it is the minerals remaining that are packed into the bone cavity to form the substrate for your own bone tissue to form. And if I recall correctly, ultimately your body "resorbs" it and replaces it with your own tissue. Pretty weird stuff.
@stoptheflop Bend the knees! Get some flex in the body!

The ACL repair is amazing. The do use patellar tendon or hamstring tendon from the patient.
I forgot about that. I think they also use a tendon from elsewhere to do Tommy John surgery to strengthen damaged ligaments in the pitcher's throwing arm.
Interestingly, I don’t recall ever hearing about anyone having problems at the locations from where the tendons were taken. Never any complications from having a tendon removed? Wow! Do we have some extra inventory tendons hanging around?
@JayHawkFanToo The ACC commissioner issued a comment supporting the suspension. I don't remember a commissioner doing that when punishment has been done only at the school level. Certainly supports the "do it or we will" theory!
@DoubleDD You have been listening to different commentators than I have, apparently! I would not recommend starting the conference season with a major "we are unappreciated" chip, even as a fan, since almost everybody says KU is right in it.
@RockChalkinTexas Just some information to explain the failure of KU to pull away. UNLV at one point had missed I think 6 to 9 3 ptrs in a row, then started making them. Their best scorer started playing up to his ability. Also, they had something like 10 turnovers in the 1st half, but only 3 in the second.
In addition, we had some shooters go cold, but in general I think UNLV just improved and figured out ways to adjust.
Devonte seemed out of rythym, but it may also have been that he was okay with doing a lot to spread it around to the hotter guys and getting the ball to the post. Landen looked better than his stats. The starting 5 had, I think, 34 rebs, which was fun to watch.
Svi and JJ were human highlight films!
Hope the diversion helps a little....
@RockChalkinTexas Such a turnaround from the fun and excitement you were looking forward to! My wife and I will keep you in our hearts and thoughts as we hope you get through these times with fond memories and the joy in your heart from all the love you and your husband have shared.
Bobby Knight would love that shot fake by JJ!
@Lulufulu Well, no orthopedist here either, and I wondered the same thing. Further research and reflection reminded the recesses of my addled brain that the tendons and ligaments controlling fingers are integrally involved in the architecture of the wrist. Trying to use his nonshooting hand to steady the ball would likely involve finger motion and any hand movement requires movement of the tissues in the wrist. Recipe for hurting or at least delaying full recovery, I would think.

I bet Jay Williams wasn't bawling after being told he had to apologize to the nicer kids.

All of our post players are bigger than Sir Charles Barkley
Well, taller, not bigger, than The Round Mound of Rebound. He was perhaps 6' 6" and weighed about 250. He and Wes Unseld used bulk to get and hold position for rebounding, Rodman was more agility.
But Barkley and Unseld had more years to develop technique at their sizes, too.
@jaybate-1.0 No news I have seen. I tore mine with a rapid wrist twist in tennis 41 years ago, didn’t have surgery, and it still hurts when twisting. "So, don't twist it...."
I think surgery is reattachment. I know they can graft tendons with "donor" tissue, but unsure about ligaments.
@jaybate-1.0 Torn ligaments requiring surgery, not a break.
@BShark I think we will see a bit of Bragg coupled with Lucas, at least until one gets some fouls. Bragg's jump shot can help unclog the middle for the high-low passes to Lucas.
I hope.
Ohio State fired football coach Woody Hayes after his Gator Bowl punch directed at the Clemson player who intercepted a Buckeye pass. "Heat of the moment" was seen by no one as an excuse. Why coaches let players get away with stuff just as bad is beyond me.
Before we condemn K entirely, the one thing I can never find an excuse for is why Self didn't yank EJ in the Michigan game. Even in a tourney game, you have to not sell out your principles.
@BeddieKU23 Bragg steps up, Landen continues to improve, Coleby really contributes when he gets fully healthy, Mitch comes in to give a breather, Jackson plays a bit of 4/5 in the Magic 1980 NBA Finals mode, and we survive pretty well. Udoka was originally seen as reaching his full ability and being most important next year anyway, so this puts us where we originally expected to be.
Not saying we won't miss him as a possible game-changer, just that I have confidence in the coaches' and the other guys' ability!
@Crimsonorblue22 It was his little grin that caused me to wish I "knew a guy who knew a guy" who could take care of it.
@RockChalkinTexas From what we see here, his best weapon is having you with him with your cheerful and hopeful outlook, and all the love and support you give him. Good luck!
K just spent a long time talking about the sweet little lovefest after the game where Allen apologized and making it sound like the Elon player just chalked it up to playing hard. Saying they decided to "move on" but obviously was his anticipatory PR shot.
@COHawk Must have thought any shots at all were Fools' Gold.
@wissox I have more than made up for your share. However, many, even perhaps most if you count the kids, people visiting LV these days don't gamble. Oddly, that is why you can't find super cheap rooms or bargain buffets in large Strip hotels anymore. A little history:
In the 70s, it was Atlantic City, and then in the 80s through the 90s, Indian casinos started taking away a chunk of LV gambling revenue. So, they started converting the marketing of the town to family entertainment and family friendly mega-resorts like Excalibur, the Mirage, Treasure Island, Luxor, etc, and lots of golf courses being built--all to get the entertainment dollars from non-gamblers, and to get families to bring kids.
In the late 90s and after 2000, the trend of losing gaming revenue continued as Macau became the destination of choice of "whales." Even more gaudy resorts were built and they innumdated the Strip with luxury hotels like Bellagio, Venetian, Wynn and Encore, followed in 2006-13 by the huge City Center complex.
By this time they realized that family entertainment was a loser in Sin City, so nightclubs to attract the pretty young LA elites became the order of the day, replacing family restaurants and kids video rooms. Magicians were replaced by Broadway. Likewise, the Treasure Island Pirate Battle spectacular out front was converted from a contest against the British ship to a fight against scantily clad temptreses seemingly straight from what used to be just the midnight revues. Bargain show prices designed to get people into the casinos to gamble were replaced by Cirque de Soleil shows and mega-concerts with triple-digit prices. Showrooms have in some places even been taken out of the casinos because the gambling dollars are dwarfed by the ticket and club revenues!
Essentially, Las Vegas--by now collecting about 10% as much gambling revenue as its competitors in Asia and around the States--has now figured out that to survive in this era, you create a "must go/must be seen destination," charge exorbitant prices for luxury hotels, clubs and restaurants, and stop using rooms and food as loss-leaders for gamblers. And give it all a naughty, Sin City panache encouraging ridiculous self-indulgent spending.
The funny part is that they get to keep all of that money, whereas gaming revenues are only the net after gamblers' winnings are deducted. And the slogan should be "What comes to Vegas (in your wallet), stays in Vegas." Before retirement, my wife and I once had a $750 anniversary date that was just dinner (at the Picasso in Bellagio) and a Celine Dion concert. Nary a dollar at the tables.
And buffets 20 years ago were mostly under $10, some under $5. Now, they are almost all over $15 for breakfast and up to $75 for dinner.
@approxinfinity Wow! Bless the cotton pickin' lil heart of federal-government-despising SC!
@DanR Now don't go trying all that flattery on him yourself....
@JayHawkFanToo The overrepresentation is just in the number of electors stemming from the two senators in states with small populations resulting in only one congressional district. It is only in the 100 votes total, out of 538, so the overrepresentation is mostly offset. Not a huge deal.
The fears of regionalism were stronger than we can appreciate now.
I think he got appointed to the transition team.
But unfortunately his basketball instincts have gotten him confused and he took the appointment too literally. He keeps telling the team that after a turnover they need to pass ahead and be willing to pull up for a 3 pointer.
@Crimsonorblue22 Ok, I admit it, I stank it up!

Udoka has a long ways to go in most regards but the look is perfected! And, we have to remember, Jeff Withey himself wasn't Jeff Withey for the first couple of years.....
@Crimsonorblue22 Lil Crimson tryin' to get a ring, are ya?
@KUSTEVE I thought that posting fake news on Social Media to drive ad revenue was right there in the 1st Amendment. Must be in the penumbra!
