Wow, just wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Drop the Cougs • Sep 17, 2022 09:39 PM

Watching some of the Duke game during our breaks. Duke playing a cupcake, so I don't know if it will show me anything.

Drop the Cougs • Sep 17, 2022 09:36 PM

Wow KState loses.

Drop the Cougs • Sep 17, 2022 09:28 PM

KState down 17-10 to Tulane with just 2 min to play

Drop the Cougs • Sep 17, 2022 09:25 PM

Oh I thought that TD pass was dead in the water. RC

Drop the Cougs • Sep 17, 2022 08:06 PM

There you go D. Way to get a stop.

Drop the Cougs • Sep 17, 2022 07:58 PM

KU D must get a stop here.

Drop the Cougs • Sep 17, 2022 07:52 PM

So, I guess we have to spot the opponent 2 TDs, then start playing.

Drop the Cougs • Sep 17, 2022 07:38 PM

KU Dline is getting no pressure on the QB.. Come on now

Drop the Cougs • Sep 17, 2022 06:54 PM

Game thread right here. Go Jayhawks.

Drop the Cougs • Sep 17, 2022 11:08 AM

@jayballer67 Jayballer, I'm just holding my breath hoping this Cinderella streak continues. Just like teammates during a pitcher's no-hit game, you have to ignore the positive to keep it going. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh, Jayballer. RC

It may be just one win. Yes, KU could lose Daniels and tank the rest of the season. But, when I look at the usually difficult to stomach top 130 by CBS Sports, KU moved up 42 positions to #56. Imagine that, Number 56 in the country. A competitive football team. KU has hovered above the 100 rank for years. Thank you Coach Leipold and staff. Thank you.

Beat WVU • Sep 11, 2022 01:21 PM

@mayjay OK, maybe I'm wrong, but my understanding of the OT rule is WV only got one possession in OT to tie the game or it lost. So, when Bryant intercepted, that ended their one and only possession and they lost. Even if Bryant fumbled and WV recovered, that would be a second possession, which WV isn't allowed in OT. If I have this one possession rule correct, after the interception Bryant could have handed the ball to a WV player and even if he scored it wouldn't have mattered. Please, someone tell me if this is correct.

Beat WVU • Sep 11, 2022 12:50 PM

Anyone else disappointed/distressed by the sidelines motioning Cobee Bryant to take a knee or slide instead of running back the pick 6? I saw at least 3 people on our sideline motioning for him to go down to end the game. Is it possible that our own players and staff don't know the overtime rules? The interception ended WV's possession; they don't get another one. Why not run the interception all the way back to the lockerroom. Yeah, Cobee taking it to the house. RC

Beat WVU • Sep 11, 2022 01:17 AM

WV had 355 pass and 141 rushing. KU 215 passing, our Daniels was 17/28 3TDs and 82 of the team's 194 rushing yds. Neal and Hishaw with 2 TDs each. RC

Beat WVU • Sep 11, 2022 01:02 AM

Great, great win. KU needed this. KU deserved this big win.

Beat WVU • Sep 11, 2022 12:21 AM

@FarmerJayhawk Wet ball and field; just didn't want to lose the ball.

Beat WVU • Sep 11, 2022 12:17 AM

ESPN box score is worthless; its a whole quarter behind now. Still shows 4 mins left in the 3rd.

Beat WVU • Sep 10, 2022 11:53 PM

The O just needs a long, long drive for 7. RC

Beat WVU • Sep 10, 2022 11:44 PM

Incredible, OU only ahead of Kent St. 7-3 at the half.

Beat WVU • Sep 10, 2022 11:36 PM

Wow, who are these guys? 35 to 28. Are you kidding me?

Beat WVU • Sep 10, 2022 11:28 PM

Tx Tech beat Houst0n. I guess that's why you have to go play the game.

Beat WVU • Sep 10, 2022 10:52 PM

Appalachian St beat TxAM. What is going on? I like it though.

Beat WVU • Sep 10, 2022 10:39 PM

I admire the KU fans who are at the game. But, is there anything worse than sitting in the opposing team's stadium and your team is getting its ass kicked.

Beat WVU • Sep 10, 2022 10:35 PM

4 WV possessions, 4 TDs. This could be a much longer season than I'd hoped.

Beat WVU • Sep 10, 2022 10:21 PM

The defense has got to get a damn stop right now. What the hell is wrong with the D?

Beat WVU • Sep 10, 2022 10:18 PM

Our secondary is getting scortched: 168 yds passing vs. 41 yds rushing for WV. Not how I thought WV would move the ball.

Beat WVU • Sep 10, 2022 10:00 PM

The offense got us back on track. Now the defense has to get a stop.

Beat WVU • Sep 10, 2022 09:45 PM

Wow, spotted WV more than the spread. So far the defense hasn't shown anything. Or the offense.

Beat WVU • Sep 10, 2022 09:34 PM

Well, not a good start. Jeez, KU needed to come out better organized.

Success in the WV game will depend on the defense. It's clear that the defense will be improved from last year. Today, I don't want to see our defensive backs be the leading tacklers in the game. Success today depends on the D-line and linebackers. I'm not worried about the offense at all; KU has turned the corner on offense. KU 34 WV 28. RC

2,357 Wins • Sep 10, 2022 10:42 AM

Now our program gets to feel the pressure of the hounds at our heels; 4 wins ahead of Kentucky and 34 wins ahead of NC. Coach Self is amazing: I remember when KU was third in wins. What a great run.

Beat WVU • Sep 07, 2022 10:34 AM

Winning games this year will come down to the defense. KU's offense is finally improved. No longer will we see 3 and out on most possessions. So, the offense will score enough points to win, but the defense must be able to get stop after stop. KU can't hope to simply out-score the opponent like it did against Texas. Defensive stops will be the key to wins. Duh!

2,357 Wins • Sep 04, 2022 09:28 PM

At least once a month I'm compelled to look at the list of NCAA members with the most basketball wins. What a great program, with such a great tradition and history. I can't wait for this season to start on November 7.

5 RBs have carried the ball, but only 64 yds rushing. Kind of disappointing, but not on the scoreboard.

Who's betting on our hawks tonight? Kansas now has sports betting.

Wow, I'm already starting to feel sorry for the Golden Eagles.

3 and out. Great start for the defense.

So is this our game thread? I need to hear from everyone.

Game Day for our Hawks. What does everyone want to see during the Tenn. Tech Golden Eagles game? I sure hope they don't score 44 on us like the Chippewas did on OState. I'd really like to see Jalon Daniels smoothly and efficiently run the offense, then let Jason Bean get at least a quarter of work. I want to see all the RBs get some carries. I'm really excited for our team, but I get this way every year for the first game.

Fall Camp Thread • Aug 19, 2022 12:40 PM

Besides Tenn Tech, Duke and Texas Tech, what other teams do you think KU has a chance to beat this year? W Virginia on week 2? TCU? Every year, the reports from fall camp get me excited for an improved team. This year is the same, but multiplied by 10. KU has an experienced Oline, experience and talent at QB and RB and our defense looks to be much improved-at least with the starters. Tenn Tech should just be a warm up, so W Virg. will be the game to judge how much improved KU football will be this year.

Fall Camp Thread • Aug 07, 2022 11:03 AM

Please everyone close to Lawrence, come to this game: KU v. Tennessee Tech Friday, Sept. 2 at 7 pm. Tennessee Tech, formerly University of Dixie is located in Cookeville TN, which is halfway between Nashville and Knoxville. With an enrollment of less than 10,000, Tenn Tech is in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Golden Eagles offense really struggled last year against the likes of Furman, E. Illinois and UT Martin. They lost to Tenn last year 56-0. I worry this won't be enough of a test for our defense to get them ready to travel to W. Virg. on Sept. 10, but this game will allow Coach Leipold to insert a lot of players and get everyone some playing time. Great game time for the students, but I don't like the late start. At least it will help with the temperature. I hope to see many of you at the game to show our support for our rebuilding program and Leipold's coaching staff that has worked its tail off. RC

Fall Camp Thread • Aug 06, 2022 12:12 PM

My hope and expectation for this year is to see a major improvement on defense and steady ball control with the offense. Like Jayballer says, it sure appears that Coach L has greatly improved our depth, especially on defense. KU should have more talent amongst the defensive starters and much better backups. On offense, run the ball over and over with the numerous quality running backs we have and the offensive line with more experience and better backups. My expectations are higher, like every year; but, I really feel better about the future of the program under Coach L than I did with Coaches Miles and Beaty. RC

State of the Roster 2022 • Jul 13, 2022 12:51 PM

@FarmerJayhawk Nice work! I'm highly interested in all the personnel changes in our program. Like all KU fans, this is the time of the year when I'm optimistic for the program and excited to see if the team improves. I still want to punish the KU employee responsible for putting Houston on our schedule.

NC Game thread analysis • Jul 12, 2022 10:27 AM

When I rewatch our championship march, I'm struck by the great officiating in our games. I remember a game late in our conference season when 21 or more fouls were called; at least one foul on every possession and sometimes two in the second half. The game was unwatchable and I'm sure a misery for the players. The refs in the tournament understood that each game was about the game of basketball and the players, not the refs and their need for control and attention. The tournament games were a true joy to watch and not just because KU won.

Kansas residents have until July 12 to register to vote in the August 2 election. You can register on-line; its super easy. Also, you have to re-register if you have moved since your latest registration. Importantly, a simple majority vote in the August 2 election will decide if Kansas changes its Constitution. This means more than ever: Every vote counts. Please make plans now to vote in what is usually a very low voter turnout election. Please encourage everyone else to get out and vote.

I never really heard what specific injuries led to the premature end of Bobby's freshman season. Matt Tait's article indicates Bobby's physical problems arise from several different problems. I worry that Bobby may be one of those athletes that never gets fully healthy; as soon as one problem resolves, another arises. But, I hope that's just me: cronic worrier and Bobby has a stellar and healthy sophmore season. KU needs you Bobby.

This is just like guessing when a baby will be born and its weight, etc.

2022 Schedule Finalized • Jun 05, 2022 01:25 PM

Anything new on replacing Houston on our schedule? KU was mostly competitive at the end of last season after beating Texas, KU finished by losing to TCU 31-28 and WV 34/28. KU desperately needs wins over anybody to start appealing to more recruits. I can't imagine how you go into a recruit's home and talk around last year's 2-10 record. There is nothing to be gained by playing top 25 Houston at Houston this year. I'm impressed with Coach Leipold, but whomever negotiates our schedule needs to look at our record and give the coach a break.

Reasons to believe in next year’s team • May 30, 2022 12:24 PM

Who else still thinks about the inbound's play drawn up for Dajuan Harris and his failure to properly execute it? Dajuan was wide open for the inbound's pass but couldn't control his position on the sideline. Even if he stayed inbounds, he threw an out of control pass right to Brady Manek but not much time remained. I still think about that play and how it could have gone better; great design on the play, but less than great execution. I also wonder what would have happened if Brady Manek hadn't slipped on his cut in the lane during NC's final inbound's play. My guess is Brady was the first option to shoot their 3. Then I remember KU is the National Champion. I read where Coach Self admitted to watching the championship game more than 10 times. I don't watch the first half, but love watching the second half during the sport dead zone that is April to August for me.
