KU/GEORGIA GAME CHAT • Nov 23, 2016 04:53 AM

The SEC really sucks so bad in basketball they ought to be considered Division 2 or something. They ought to be NAIA. They should be dissolved and the arenas imploded simultaneously all across the seccesionist states. Maybe we'll let Kentucky stick around because they don't suck.

@DCHawker Gave you a thumbs up because there was no alternative for that pitiful stat line!

We need a Josh throwdown to wake everyone up here.

KU/GEORGIA GAME CHAT • Nov 23, 2016 04:21 AM

That game is why teams don't go to mid majors too often. IPFW is winning their signature game of the year and Indy gets a bad loss.

KU/GEORGIA GAME CHAT • Nov 23, 2016 04:19 AM

@BeddieKU23 I agree, but they beat us.

When is "Enough is Enough?" • Nov 22, 2016 08:13 PM

It's really sad to me. Allow me for a second, to delve into the topic of Christianity. We don't discuss it much here obviously, but it's something very important to me.

About 10 years ago Baylor, partially at least, in response to the murderous basketball team, decided that they were going to reemphasize their Baptist/Christian roots. They were going to take it more seriously as a university. Many of us applauded them for their stance. My daughter became interested in attending Baylor as a result.

It would seem to me that you such a rededication to all things Christian would impact all areas of life on campus but apparently it didn't reach the football program.

I agree @drgnslayr, Baylor should be consequenced seriously. Sucks for the good kids there, but something needs to be done. It's inexcusable.

GEORGIA BULLDOGS - TONIGHT 9 PM - ESPN2 • Nov 22, 2016 08:01 PM

@wrwlumpy Another reason not to like them. Their logo looks like the Packers logo.

Frontline • Nov 22, 2016 02:55 PM

@jayballer54 I spent the offseason worrying about it. Some tried to reassure me. It appears Coleby and Lightfoot aren't going to contribute much this season so we're going to have to work with what we've got.

Big 12 Games - Change • Nov 22, 2016 02:20 PM

@stoptheflop The best thing about that season was we lost to Missouri in a once in a lifetime top 3 matchup, and then the Orange picks us over Missouri! I'd have been pissed if I was a Missouri fan, but of course if I was a Missouri fan I'd probably have drank some cyanide by now.

A few random thoughts from UAB • Nov 22, 2016 02:18 PM

If you take away Birmingham from the name of the school, you've got a really good football team.

Easily our most enjoyable game of the year to watch. Small sample size but lots of oohs and aahs.

Yesterday, interestingly, my 2nd love Badgers also opened a game leading 17-1. And frittered it away just like the Jayhawks. The Badgers did it against Rick Barnes and the other UT, Rocky Top. Like the Jayhawks, the Badgers pulled it together and won by double digits and play Georgetown in Maui today who beat surely the best 2 loss team in America, Oregon. Brooks has been hurt contributing to their early malaise.

Josh Jackson. Got to the rim easily against the Blazers. I'm not nuanced enough in basketball to determine if UAB's D was not up to the snuff we'd seen against Duke, Indy and Sienna, but I suspect not.

Routs sometimes mask problems and 9-19 FT's is a problem.

How were we beating a team as bad looking as UAB 25-3 and let them get within 5 points?

Svi is our most improved slightly over Vick. Vick played poorly yesterday.

If we win the last game played in the Sprint Center this year we'll be in the final four. For now, let's just beat Georgia.

Big 12 Games - Change • Nov 22, 2016 01:52 PM

Hadn't heard that. Interesting. I wish that all of the leagues were of the size that they could have true round robins. It's pretty dumb to have a league that doesn't balance it's schedule in a way to make it fair for all teams.

@JayHawkFanToo I don't know, when I think of clock malfunctions and Michigan St I think of 1986. Did I say it was the same? I obviously didn't say it was the same. Sure it's apples to oranges except I didn't compare them. I just said it will remind us of another clock issue with MSU.

Look above here. They're discussing Charles Manson, evolution, the Soviet-US game, conspiracies, thrown basketball games. Call those guys out too. They're discussing something that had nothing to do with the original post. I suppose I educated some younger posters here who never heard of the KU-MSU clock problem.

Imagine. If he'd made the shot and the refs stuck to their guns!

UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA - BIRMINGHAM BLAZERS • Nov 21, 2016 02:42 PM

Great work as usual. I was looking for it yesterday, somehow missed it. One nit I'll pick is the picture of the lunch counter protest actually took place in Jackson, Ms. But Birmingham was certainly the focal point of much that happened in the 60's especially.

Now, it's a beautiful city sitting in the foothills to the Appalachians. I always enjoy driving through there.

MU 1-6 in SEC Conference • Nov 21, 2016 02:22 PM

If I was a Missouri fan, and I'm thankful I'm not, and it's one of the first things I'll say I'm thankful for Thursday, but if I was I'd be pretty upset that we left the Big12. It changed that athletic department for the worse it appears.

Wow, that's really poor. I'm just a little confused however. He missed the shot, but FGCU was arguing that they were forced to throw up a shot sooner because of the timing error? Therefore, they should have been able to rerun the play?

A lot of us will remember this involving Michigan St. We benefited from it as we were losing and somehow, I forget now, Larry Brown got T-d up as a result, not Judd Heathcoat! I know MSU fans are still steamed.

Having top ten programs in football and basketball is a lot of fun. It really covers most of the year. Hoping that someday the Jayhawks will get there in football. Tough to do however.

Duke/Vitale wedding coming • Nov 20, 2016 09:51 PM

I like Dicky V. I wouldn't watch Duke play anyone other than us or the Badgers so I don't worry about it too much. He says a lot of nice things about us as well. Now Musberger, yuck, don't get me started!

@BeddieKU23 said:

UAB with Haase was a good team. Without him they lost to Furman. Still have a veteran lineup. Should be a game we win by 20

That's good, my niece goes to Furman!

Ten Random thoughts on Siena • Nov 20, 2016 08:26 PM

@sfbahawk I said I'm not concerned because I think Bill will fix it.

Ten Random thoughts on Siena • Nov 20, 2016 07:22 PM

@BeddieKU23 Tired legs is our reason for poor shooting? Tired legs from what? We've played 3 games. They're in college, in other words, they're young elite athletes. I agree with most posters that say our shooters will come around.

@stoptheflop Not touching that one of who here should coach for one game! Except, I've officially removed my name from consideration!

@KUSTEVE I saw that TT-ISU score and was shocked.

That's what it's come to. Lose to Kansas and you get fired?

Where is @Red_Rooster? • Nov 19, 2016 04:48 PM

@Red.Rooster Take care our friend. We sometimes forget that life happens to all of us that takes precedence.

Ten Random thoughts on Siena • Nov 19, 2016 04:45 PM

@KUSTEVE Nice job. On 9, if Lando and Bragg average 10 we'll have 5 starters averaging 10 because the three guards will too. That's balance! Vick is almost at 10. Is it possible to have 6 average 10 a game? Not sure if that's ever been done.

Ten Random thoughts on Siena • Nov 19, 2016 04:37 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 Thanks to the AD I was watching the game on a miniature screen on my laptop with the chat on the other half. I didn't see anyone sprinting because I could barely see anyone!

@Bwag 1st time for everything!

Ten Random thoughts on Siena • Nov 19, 2016 01:51 PM
  1. Add an N and Siena is also a color and a car.

  2. I'm officially concerned about our 3 point offense and 3 point defense.

  3. I'm not as concerned about FT's. Bill Self will fix it.

  4. After playing in far flung places it was nice to see us on a court with a friendly bird in the middle.

  5. I think we're still adjusting to the loss of Perry Ellis.

  6. No one fills a stat sheet in such an ugly way as Landen Lucas. 6 pts, 5 boards, 5 blocks, 2 fouls.

  7. LaGerald is the most exciting Vick since Michael. He's averaging almost 10 a game which is quite a bit higher than I expected out of him this year. I just hope he stays away from the dogs.

  8. JJ's 3 point percentage (.400) is surprising in many ways. It's the high on the team, we didn't expect him to be a great 3 baller, and it's higher than his FT percentage (.375). Like Duke, he showed some flashes last night but we will need him to not just have flashes of brilliance.

  9. Bragg is our only big averaging over 10 points a game. It's still early, but interior scoring must improve.....I think......but

  10. We all knew it coming in, but our guard play has lived up to billing (except for the 3 percentage). Enjoy the season folks. It's going to be a fun season watching them.

@Jesse-Newell is doing the live update thingy over at kuhoops. A lot of us were with him before at the LJW and the Topeka paper.

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 02:48 AM

Bragg got pulled down on the loose ball. They called a foul. Should've been 1-1 I thought.

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 02:47 AM

It pisses me off that all/most of us are stuck watching one of the favorites to win it all with one of the projected top players in the country on our laptops/phones/computers, or whatever. We've discussed this idiot AD ADnaseum, but it's pretty sucky.

Honor is our leading scorer tonight.

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 02:16 AM

Udoka came into the game grabbing 50% of every available rebound in the first two games according to JNewell. The best rebounders at the end of the year are at 20%, He calls it the rebounding rate.
