@JayHawkFanToo Completely agree with you on Joel, I will not refer to him as JoJo anymore since there is only one JoJo, "My Avatar", and only one Joel. The Iowa State game at home with the starter's play almost the entire game was exhausting with Joel walking down the court on defense towards the end. Flying to Austin one day later with the monsters inside for TU, made me worry that this was not going to be a victory in Austin.
When tournament time comes, You will see Lucas and Black play much more and Wiggins will move down on the blocks for some extra minutes. Joel needs another year of Andrea and another 15 lbs. of muscle.
Forever young and only at KUBuckets.
"It is going to be a very, very tough game. KU's players do not yet know quite how tough it is going to be. This is truly their first came against a cornered D1 animal that knows it will shoot a whole lot better percentage than it did the last time."
My thoughts too. Last year, ISU played better against us at the Phog than they did in Ames. ISU won't miss 21 three pointers this time.
Marcus Smart Wiki page. This cracked me up.
They missed 21 three's at Ames. Our defense has been good,

but ISU is not TCU.
@jaybate 1.0 - When I was 11, after moving to the Ozarks Mountains, the only time our TV had a clear picture was during the daytime. On the weekends, in the winter my brothers and my father would watch the NBA. Gola was the shooting guard on the Philly team with Wilt during his first year in the league. They lost to the Celtics that year in the Finals. On a team that had Wilt, there had to be an outside threat to balance the team. The Celtics had Russell and Cousey and were more like the Jayhawks today with Red's cigar instead of the Rock Chalk chant when a victory was eminent. later, Cy Hugo Green played with Wilt and had a two handed jump shot. Clyde Lovelette had the best hook shot in basketball until Lew Alcinder came along. Petit led the NBA in scoring that same year with the best jump shot ever. About 30 pts per game.

This flop is worse than the one with Selden.
This is a good chance to work on perimeter defense. ISU could not hit the broad side of a barn in Hilton. Let the Bigs do their big things and guard the three. Anyone know the line in Vegas on this game?

From Bleacher Report today:
Record: 15-4 (6-0 Big 12)
"The rest of the country would be best off if the NCAA tournament would hurry up and get here for Kansas.
Bill Self's teamβin particular freshmen Joel Embiid, Andrew Wiggins and Wayne Seldenβare improving at such a rapid pace that the Baby Jayhawks have turned into the best offense in the country outside of the three-point bombers at Creighton.
Since conference play has started, KU's offense only trails Creighton in efficiency among the major conferences."
I've noticed how hard Self has been riding these Freshmen. He yells at Wiggins just as much as he does Greene. I've wondered how these boy's have turned into men so quickly. Yet as Coach is in each face during the huddle, you see wide open eyes and nodding heads that know they are being imparted wisdom and absorbing it appreciatively. They are having fun on the bench, jumping for joy as Self continues to scowl throughout the entire game. I wonder where KU would be without Self these last 11 years?
RIP - Tom Gola

Bob Petit and Tom Gola were who I pretended to be when shooting hoops.
KU ranked 2nd by Bleacher Report.
After coming back from Viet Nam, I was in the reserves for two years in KC. They needed volunteers for the Color Guard. No one signed up. The officer in charge was bitching about not getting anyone and said to me, the reason we need them is so we can do the colors before every home Kings game. For two years I marched out to Center court then sat in the front row with my wife, my brother and his wife for two years. Bob Cousy was our coach,. Chamberlain played for the Lakers. Dr. J played for the Sixers. Bob McAdoo got kicked out of a game and kicked the basketball to the top row of Municipal. Tiny would score 50 points a night and Kareem would just shake his head when he got dipsey-doodled by Tiny. My cat's name is also Tiny. Frank has the speed of Tiny but doesn't quite have the moves yet.
Spud Webb was smaller than Tiny and won the NBA dunk contest.
Dragging photos most of the time ends up with a photo popping up but then the website disappears with no buttons available to submit. This happens about 70% of the time.

@HighEliteMajor It looks like your three boys will get a chance to play Saturday night. Don't know about White or what's going on. Will we have to wait for the book to find out?

Some of the best Smart - acting photo shops.
Jaybate is usually right. I would expect Wiggins. Ellis and Selden to rip Baylor tomorrow night.
Wiggins only had 3 fouls and sat for 9 minutes, Traylor and Mason played as many minutes as Ellis and Selden only played 12 minutes in the second half. Sit the superstars down and be proud of those that hung on. The team got much better because Bill Self is a Master at his craft.
When we had a 19 point lead he was screaming at them. When they lost their memory of how to play basketball he was calmly talking to them with a smile on his face. Take the win and go forward. It make no difference if we are seeded # 1 or # 4. Forget about the NBA Draft and JUST PLAY BALL.
The photo above I believe is from One of Tiger Woods past estates.

I woke up early and watched the last ten minutes of the Texas Tech/Baylor game. In this half empty arena, something special was happening to a TT basketball team that lives in the enormous football shadow cast over them in West Texas. The old master that we welcomed to the big 12 showed Scott Drew once again that a team that emphasizes defense and plays with discipline will always kick his ass.
By the way, Tubby, 7 footer Kravic and marksman Crockett will upset others this year in the Big 12.
It was fun to watch # 12 go down to defeat in a game that was never in doubt.

So after reading all this, we should draft players that aren't as good as other players so we can start all over with a losing season to develop more winning seasons?
During the civil war, what if the North had B52's.
What about all the preseason bitching about Wiggins from Smart? Will either one be over anxious to perform? Is there a personal angle that will take away from team play. I don't think Wiggins will play outside of the lines? He has been fantastic during Conference. I hope CBS doesn't make too big of a deal about all of Smarts quotes at the BIG 12 meeting in KC.
βI think theyβre all very good players,β Hoiberg said. βI think Embiidβs the best player in the country.β
Game by game, scouting reports change. It appears for awhile, the strategy is to get JoJo ejected. The schedule we have played has pointed out our weakness's in several areas. Self has shown in the last 3 games that the inability caused by double teaming the post which SDSU used to perfection is no longer a problem, rather it has become an advantage. Last night the double teamed Big's were masterful at creating havoc with their passing out of the double.
The youthful panic in the Florida attack has been replaced by an almost professional focus on playing basketball Bill Self style. Wig's has flourished by just being a solid teammate. Since the conference has started in the ACC, Parker has disappeared.
Watching JoJo in the second half made me think about how our Freshmen have started to become men, men that trust their coach and are starting to see that this work really does pay off.
Last night wasn't perfect, but it did not miss by much.
@jaybate 1.0 Twitter said Kane looked good at the shoot around today. Here's a pic of him showing no pain.!Capture.PNG β
JoJo's Wonderful - Horrible Day.
By far, this, is the play of the year.
@JayDocMD I agree, he can dunk everything, so, dunk everything. That's what they told the twins when they were Freshmen.
Conner hit the wide open 3, but my hope for the future was his shot fake and stepping to the top of the key for the in-rhythm 2.
He will get his minutes this year against guards 6'3" and shorter. This doesn't solve the problem of who will come in the game against guards like Thames from SDSU. Selden did a dive and time out that Haase would have been proud of. The T.O. was one thing for the refs, but watch the fire in the huddle on DVR as Coach does what he does best, he got his player's attention.
Coach respects your questions on the radio and them seem to put you first every time. I glad your didn't mention his "mismanaging".
Next 7 games: @ OU, KSU, @ ISU, OSU, Baylor, @ TCU, ISU.
"To live in this town you must be TUFF TUFF TUFF TUFF TUFF"
Mick Jagger - Shattered.
This is how he feels.
I thought Brady was a great defender. So was Jerrod Hasse.
Self was talking last night about the coaches in the Big 8.The ones who were politically incorrect - Norm, Johnny and of course, Billy Tubbs. All three were great coaches and great showmen. Every time Orr walked on the court, the Tonight Show theme was played. I always wondered if royalties were paid to NBC? I also know KU fans respected those coaches, especially Eddie Sutton walking over and hugging Nick and Kirk during the game when they were taken out for the last time against OSU.
I'm thinking that the Field House will whip up the "run first" attitude in the young Jayhawks. If dunks work early, this will be a track meet. After every made shot by SDS, Self will call out a play and as you said, we'll be back to half court. This will be the toughest test of the year. I think the Mecca of basketball wins this one for the home team.
