Very happy with what we saw tonight. Athleticism is the main takeaway

Overall that was a very good showing though there is a lot to clean up. It was great watching DP go nuclear. It was annoying watching us foul on every possession in the last 5 minutes. Tiller was a very pleasant surprise. I am surprised Samis and Ngala didn't play a single minute. I want to see more from Dawson too. I still have faith in Rosario. He plays hard. We just need to be patient with him.

Second half felt like bill wanting the team to play without Peterson. Really pleased with what we saw, tons to improve on but this is a very athletic team

Was at a soccer match. Found the radio feed through the varsity app, 2nd half just started. I knew nothing about the first half and then I heard Gurley say DP got 24 in the first half and I about drove off the road in my excitement. Gonna have to watch sometime this weekend to see how he did that. Might skip the 2nd half as I listened to a foul fest.

I really liked watching Flory defend. He could actually switch onto guards! Last year whenever he had to do so he looked like he was on skates.

This team is light years more athletic than last years, nice to have a pg that pushes the ball down the floor instead of walking it everytime. Lots to work on but pleased with the first look.

Feels like everyone in the game was a real basketball player. I’m sure their flaws will show the more we watch them. They looked a little tired down the stretch. Not sure I love in bounding to Jamari when the press is on… feel like Peterson could have gone for 40 if bill wouldn’t have called him off.

I think coaches generally want games like this called tighter because it's teaching moments for them during practice and film study because it shows the players exactly what the coaching talks about in regards to defending.

This team has a chance to be really good this year as long as they can stay healthy.

I been telling people Tiller was gonna be more in Pactual then some seem to believe.- -

This team is going to be trouble for teams on the defensive end. we are so long , athletic , alot of deflected balls , steals , turnovers'

Peterson is the real deal. they were saying they left him out most of the 2nd half to see how the others could respond with him out, Mercy the kid is crazy athletic

Random thought: Tiller looks like a larger Ochai (with respect to physical appearance, not playstyle)

Hey, how exciting. We got to watch some Jayhawk hoops! Awesome.

Boy, DP sure set the bar high for the rest of the season.

I can admit that buy in for me is going to be challenging with all the new, possibly temporary faces we have. Gonna take some time to learn their skills and personalities. We’re all used to the old way of 3-4 year player development.

It was interesting to get the extended 2nd half looks at the team without DP. Obviously in real games he is going to play most of the game.

I missed the Gurley pregame interview with Coach, but watched a replay. Coach says KU finally gets a home exhibition game next year with Louisville. I can't believe KU has to beg for a home exhibition game. Last night's game got scheduled because both schools are Addidas programs and Coach said something about NIL being involved. Wow, it is so complicated now with shoe companies and NIL in the mix.

Maybe DP will save us from our propensity to trail by double digits early. Yes to Tiller and we will need him if Flory fouls to his heart's content. Cincy got fed to the salad master by Arkansas and BYU has depth inside plus Dybantsa is aggressive and scary.
Fact is we scored 90 while running a mystery offensive. Louisville played hard and acted pissed because they couldn't close the gap that DP created.

Listened to the last half of the game and looking at the highlights this morning I think this team is going to be fun to watch. DP is the real thing. It will be fun to see how Coach picks the starters and who best plays what he wants.
On another side note, most of you know that I go way back to 2012 that I wrote the athletic dept. for posters and magnets. Well this year, I was notified that NONE of the departments were doing posters, and the guy I ended up with sent us a package of a couple Wave the Wheat tshirts, a Rock Chalk plaque, a magnet and a towel that reads "Towering Toward The Blue". I can't believe that they did away with posters. Feel naked without one hanging on my wall.

After watching the replay, the big thing that jumped out at me (other than Peterson) was that we finally have a defense that can chase the other team off the 3 point line. The last two years it seemed that opposing teams could launch a quality 3 any time they wanted to. It was also fun to watch a team with 2 mobile bigs who can rebound, block shots, and put the ball on the floor and drive to the hoop. Flory’s improvement in that area is impressive, and Tiller seems to be a natural.

Bill Self with a team full of athletic guys who can guard is the way it should be.

I'm now re-reading this thread as I need an antidote to my football depression.

We need to stomp K-State twice in hoops this year (including in their super bowl)
