Trying to look up stats on ESPN and looks like they have problems...don't know that the game started. Well, guess that makes sense how the telecast started.

@betterfireE your are correct. Svi is supposedly a great shooter, so he has to make open shots. VIck needs to be more active on the glass and not get continually burned by a back cut. Bragg has to play tougher - he needs something to make him mad so he won't play soft - only he probably knows what that is. Free throws won't lose a tournament game, IMO. It will be because we play terrible defense and have a slow start. There are teams better than OSU in the tournament that will take advantage of that.

Interesting observation from the Duke-Louisville game. When Pitino called a time out because of mistakes, he would yell at his players as they headed to the huddle. When Capel did the same thing he would tell at the refs, just like rat face does.

I think one of the biggest issues with this team is Josh is the only elite athlete that can play elite defense. Frank is very athletic but is short. Next year should be much improved in this regard with Doke, Cunliffe and Garrett if he plays much. If we get Trae Young I think eventually the offense could be at a similar level. Okay halftime is almost over back to focusing on this year.

I think we will see this team play well this half but its gonna come down to shots made. Svi, Frank, Jackson all struggling from the floor today. Graham hasn't really done much either from what little we saw that half.

We are shooting 10% below our season average from the floor and 2-11 from 3. That's where the game is right now

Svi and Graham are average to below average athletes (when comparing to other top program players, not regular people) imo (but very good college players). Vick is a good athlete but needs to learn.

Why would you say that? I've seen a whole host of teams that played great defense getting beat. You have to have an offense to win the championship. If the round ball doesn't go in the hoop. You get no points.

There certainly have been some bad calls both ways, but we've gotten the homer calls on balance - 30 fouls to 14. Even with the missed ones, the difference in the game is the sheer number of freebies we've gotten...

Funny - I keep seeing a lot of the same issues and we don't seem to be able to correct them?

With the addition of Underwood (> Ford by miles) and Beard (more fire than elder Tubby, and seems to have focused a half-full cupboard of talent), the homecoming of Dixon (> Johnson, who seems to have given up on Karviar and crew), the improvement of Drew into a legit coach over the last few years, and Weber having his own kids, even if less talented, playing well.

I never thought I'd be thinking Shaka was the worst coach in the Big 12 when he joined.

I used to focus on nothing but tournament success. Last I took a bath form the posters last year, and I deserved it. To win a championship is so hard. Trying to speculate whether a team is this or that will drive you crazy. The lesson I learned last year from my fellow posters is just enjoy the ride.

Well, maybe. Just would note that they were constantly getting to the rim with fairly few fouls called. @DoubleDD Well, today we didn't feel like an offensive juggernaut. We weren't distributing well. Didn't get many points off of plays. We didn't handle entry passes cleanly when we got it inside. Our FT% is still abysmal, and today that was the focal point of the opponents gameplan: foul.

Juggernauts don't have multiple glaring weaknesses.

@DoubleDD no I love a good offense. But I do not like seeing our guys continually let the other team get in the lane. If you don't have a rim protector, that means your guards have to keep the opposing guards out of the lane or you will be in trouble.

@KUSTEVE our offense has been good all year, even tho we didn't shoot well today. Any other year if we score over 85 it's a blowout 95% of the time. I think we will learn a lot Monday about how tough we are.

KU is playing with 7 players so they have been trying not to foul, only 6 players had double digit minutes. OSU played 10 players an 8 had double digit minutes and Hammond had 9 and only because of foul trouble.

I don't know as missed most of the first half (thanks Espn). Yet from what I seen there was a lot of missed bunnies, and free throws. Also not blaming the refs, but man they were killing the rhythm for KU. Offense equals rhythm or vice versa. Yet I thought KU played pretty good offense despite the set backs. They grinded it out even the shots weren't falling. Off nights happen. Yet it's about can you still win if your having an off night. So far KU has proving it can.

So lets see, on FT, we're 221 of 347, thats 63.7%. What should our % be? Last year it was 71.3% for the season. Thats a diff of 7.6% which would be 26 points more over the 17 games we've played, or a little over 1.5 points more per game.

Solid win. I knew we would get OSU'S Best effort especially for a team that was trying to avoid a 0-5 start. That lose pretty much put them in no man's land now.

Not a perfect game by any means but we saw these guys fight for that win!

Agree. So, I think the issue with Bragg is that he simply isn't a 5. Subbing him for LL isn't going to work - he doesn't box out, he doesn't play strong and he is routinely out of position. I would actually prefer to see Coleby give LL the breather or foul trouble minutes. Bragg's minutes should be at the 4 only - when we need to go big and have both in and LL in at the same time or when we have JJ or Svi in foul trouble.

OSU coach Brad Underwood told Mason after the game that he is the POY the year in his eyes and refuses to let KU lose. I'm very high Brad as I've said he grew up about 7 miles from my drive way. His team is scrappy and has good young fellas that will give us trouble for several years.
