Big men do cry

KU and UK hook up tonight. Everything says KU should win by at least 12 points.

I'm going to shed a tear if they don't.

I know I'm being shallow as a fan and person. Yet I'm so tired of the UK hype machine. I just am.

If KU loses this game it's on them. Period.

KU shouldn't hope it win they should expect to win.

@DoubleDD I really don't think there has been in a game in the last 30 years where a KU team has hoped to win. I'm pretty sure that every time the team takes the court...they expect it.

Saying that, a victory is a victory in my book. UK's height scares me a little bit. UK beats a great...not a good, but great Vermont team playing absolutely terrible shooting wise. They left about 20 points within 5 feet of the basket. They will rebound and have the depth to cause headaches for any driving...similar to 2012. I fully expect Doke to get in early foul trouble and it will be a tale of 2 decisively different teams...big and slow paced UK vs. small and fast KU. I expect to see KU put up 32 3's tonight and 14 need to drop.

I fully expect a KU win. But I do every game. This is going to be a closely contested contest throughout.

Vick is the player of the game with 22 points and 6 boards.

Devonte with 15 and 9 assists

Malik with 10

Garrett with 4

Svi with 14 on 4-7 from 3 and a layup

Preston with 10 on a ho-hum 5-6 shooting

Doke with 8 and 5 boards

Mitch with 2 on some random 3 minute spurt filler bucket

KU wins 85 - 79

I agree I expect to win.

It's a neutral court so anything can happen. I expect Self to out-coach Calipari and our players to out-play his freshman

I definitely wouldn't be surprised if we lose. UK had ho-hum games against mid major teams that they probably did not really get up for. They will get up for us tonight - guarantee it. It will be close throughout, but I could see us pulling away late with some timely three pointers.

This is where I'm at with it. KU should win but a loss would not surprise me.

@BShark their length is a problem, but we've played tall and long teams recently. I seem to recall a game last tournament where we played a mammoth team and won when everyone said we would have trouble. Missouri also has a lot of length and we did ok against them, save rebounding.

Everyone talks about how we will deal with Kentucky's length, athleticism and talent, but they still have to deal with our speed and shooting. Our defense will be the deciding factor, as it is every game.

@DoubleDD

I've learned over the years that I don't expect KU to win. I hope KU wins. All college D1 basketball teams will get upset sometimes. It just helps me a tiny, tiny bit to try to frame it this way. But I always remain positive concerning our outcomes and direction of the program.

From what I've been hearing... we are focusing on this game the right way. Devonte knows he has to lead us through this game. He is THE SENIOR player for this game (on both teams) that should control the game because of his experience, poise and talents.

Devonte is key and the rest of our players need to follow his example of poise.

If we do this... we will most-likely win, possibly win big!

Speaking of the hype machine.. Here's evidence that haters are gonna hate:

ESPN's Medcalf ranks the programs in the Champions Classic using a variety of criteria..

Spoiler: He ranks KU 1st in 2 categories.. Guess what they are.

@bskeet

Leave it to Medcalf to be braindead

Nov 14, 2017 05:25 PM #13

@BeddieKU23 I really need to stop wasting minutes of my life I'll never get back on his articles.

@bskeet

What a silly story... valuing uniform design, mascots, etc, with coaching skills, etc.

Rupp ahead of AFH? Total laugher! Rupp is extremely mediocre.

Putting the Jayhawk mascot last? Ha... are you friggin' kidding me?

All three other mascots are nothing more than public property mascot designs. You can see those devil, wildcat and spartan logos everywhere, from primary schools on up.

The Jayhawk is original. Only one existing. The design itself is protected. The rest of the school's mascots are only protected when teamed up with their colors or words about the school because the design of the mascots alone is public property.

Anything can happen, I've come to the realization with the way the parity is in the sport now days that anyone can be anyone on a given night. We are Kansas we expect to win every night.

Agreed I lost a few brain cells after that one. Considering the source it made sense

Nov 14, 2017 05:33 PM #17

@bskeet what a load of crap... AFH is the loudest, it's been measured. East bias bulls***

Nov 14, 2017 05:36 PM #18

I expect to win and I'm predicting we win. It will be very disappointing if we lose based on how we played in Game 1 and how Kentucky has looked in its two games.

If we lose I'm sure it will be how we generally lose any game. Bad shooting, turnovers, defense, rebounding. We'll beat ourselves, we always do. I don't expect all those stars to align.

Graham, Vick, Svi, Newman keep the bunch poised and locked in and we take advantage of a Kentucky defense that isn't very good right now.

That's my brother. That's what I'm talking about.

Sure UK has talent yet so does KU. Plus some of talent is experienced. Plus again some of that KU talent is experienced in beating UK. UM the last two meetings.

Nov 14, 2017 06:13 PM #20

@kjayhawks Medcalf doesn't bother me. He probably has never been to AFH. It's one of those cases where you don't know until you know. And he doesn't know.

Nov 14, 2017 06:18 PM #21

@DoubleDD Where have you been????

Nov 14, 2017 06:24 PM #22

@KUSTEVE

Working hard brother. Just working hard. Always looking though. Always. Love you peanut heads.

Nov 14, 2017 07:06 PM #23

@DoubleDD

Sure Kentucky has talent, eight 5 star talents but as a team they are not a reflection of those stars.

I just don't see much changing from their game Sunday other then I'm sure they will be pumped to be playing in this setting. Maybe that raises the level of their play knowing a bazillion scouts will be there watching. Once that wears off and the game settles down I expect us to find ways to win this game. Could be close, could be a comfortable win in the 2nd half.

Tonight is a great opportunity to see who's ready when the lights shine bright. I hope our guys are ready for that test

Nov 14, 2017 07:47 PM #24

@bskeet

Didn’t Medcalf pick Texas to win the Conference last season? Dude is clueless.

Nov 14, 2017 11:44 PM #25

Medcalf is a race-baiting chump. Clueless. Yes.

How in the world does anyone outside of Lexinton have Rupp as a better venue than AFH or Cameron? That's just devoid of clue.

Nov 15, 2017 12:10 AM #26

@HawkChamp I would be surprised if we lost. We have both experience and talent while Kentucky has unexperienced talent. This should be a competitive game until about midway through the second half but I expect our experience to take over at about that point.
