@Statmachine Thank you so much for using the adjective "dominant" rather than the verb "dominate" as incorrectly used by so many, including the last 3 times I saw it to describe a team. Finally broke my mind....

@BShark I was trying to load that! Can't do it. Love the hat on dg

He should be. He's a champion and true team player who willed his team to the title. What has Deuce Young won?

Unbelievable accomplishment. Just a baller all around effort today

This had to be so tough for them to swallow too. Gray goes down early, Keenan Evans still clearly not right etc...

Feb 25, 2018 12:10 AM #26

Interesting stats: TT had 15 offensive rebs to our 7, but we tied them in 2nd chance pts at 10.

Also, the announcers kept saying Newman had 4 fouls but the box score shows 3. I wondered about Self playing him with 10 mins left with 4 fouls....

Feb 25, 2018 01:24 AM #37

@Statmachine for those saying we will have the most dominant team under Self... How much will we miss Devonte? Hard to believe in a team, however talented, until the freshman PG has proven himself at Kansas.

Feb 25, 2018 01:29 AM #38

Congratulations to all Jayhawks that are a part of the 14 year streak! To the board that wanted the streak over the NC glad you got what you wanted, come back from time to time to see what else this season brings! RCJHK!

Feb 25, 2018 03:12 AM #48

Congrats. I guess some here's season is complete, they got the 14th. NC's don't matter now, right because this record is uniquely ours.

Feb 25, 2018 03:15 AM #49

Don't get me wrong, great accomplishment, especially considering they looked kind of dead and out of it 3 weeks ago.

Feb 25, 2018 03:18 AM #50

I do now believe this team has a possibility of winning the NC this year. Mostly because it's about as crazy a year all around as I can recall. I won't say a probability... But yes a possibility. Anything can happen right now. But we're better than we were 3 weeks ago and chance favors the prepared.

Feb 25, 2018 03:28 AM #51

@cragarhawk Exactly right .. anything can happen. Anything. Who would even suggest we can't win the national title? This team can beat anyone.

Now, we can stub our toe easily, too. But we know that.

Feb 25, 2018 03:50 AM #52

I honestly have no idea why someone would say that this team is not winning a title, that it has "no chance". What?!?! Right, just like south Carolina last year, Syracuse in 2016, and Butler in 2010 and 2011 had "no chance" to get to the final four. It seems like some people have no concept of how random the tournament can be. Just ridiculous.

Feb 25, 2018 03:56 AM #53

I feel like we need to give DeSousa some court time until the NCAA tourney. I mean we should probably use him right? Or are we afraid he’ll get scouted? Do we keep him as a secret weapon to be unleashed at the right time?

Feb 25, 2018 03:57 AM #54

I know I got to see our team on ESPN today, but really, this network is the worst. Just look there. Main sports page, scroll down looking for KU story, and there it is, Trae Young 'erupting' for 28 points against KState. No big loud headline for our accomplishment. SMH.

Feb 25, 2018 04:08 AM #55

@betterfireE I would, to be honest if we win Monday, I’d start him a week from today. Just to see how he handles it. I’d play Sam and Mitch as much as I could get away it as well. I know Self probably won’t and has already said they would play to win in that position regardless but I think we can still win and give those guys some more minutes personally.

Feb 25, 2018 04:10 AM #56

This from article in SI from Chris Johnson

“On Saturday, Kansas wasn’t just playing a game with major consequences for this season. It was playing for history. The win ensured the Jayhawks will set a record that doesn’t feel within the grasp of any other high-major program in the near future”

Feb 25, 2018 04:10 AM #57

@betterfireE Self isn't going to play Silvio in a tight game unless his hand is forced imo.

Feb 25, 2018 04:10 AM #58

@HawkChamp couldn't agree more. Is this a vintage KU team? No. But does it need to be to get to the Final 4? Absolutely not. Two mediocre UCONN teams come to mind who not only made the Final 4 but won the National Title! This KU team is superior to either of those squads. The tourney is often crazy and rarely do the best 4 teams make the Final 4. I can't wait to see our guys out there in March. Sky is the limit.

Feb 25, 2018 04:12 AM #59

THIS is really well done. Sums it up nicely.

This from article from Fox Sports LAST YEAR when we tied UCLA at 13

“......Winning 13 straight regular-season championships in what’s been one of the toughest conferences in college basketball is a feat separate from national championships, Final Fours or Sweet 16s. It’s a validation of the steadiness, coolness and dominance of the best college basketball team of its era and one of the best runs the sport has ever seen.”

Now it’s 14... and I wonder, due To the recently released allegations in which Kansas was also named, if this singular incredible feat will not be ballyhooed much.

But WE here know how historic this this. We know.😁

Feb 25, 2018 04:31 AM #61

@Crimsonorblue22 I've been reading comments over the last few weeks that a 14th would satisfy them. Don't be ticked at me, be ticked at the people who said it.

Feb 26, 2018 02:17 AM #84

@wissox Oh, for crying out loud. This is nuts. Saying you would be "satisfied" if they won the 14th but not the NC means how you will look back on it. It has nothing to do with the eager anticipation of the tournament and the fervent hopes of everyone here that KU go far in the tournament and cap the season off with a crown.

Stop trying to make it sound like you are a superior fan because you are anxious for a championship while you misinterpret some people's voicing of a huge in-depth appreciation of this season as meaning they would be happy to quit.

It's weird that some people can't seem to enjoy the regular season and non-NCAAT accomplishments at all. And obviously I would love for KU to have more titles, but I'm not going to be all that mad after I fully process our tournament loss this season. Anything beyond the S16 would be a pleasant surprise to me given the limitations of this team. Is this settling? Is this being pessimistic? I don't really know or care. But I will have fun watching the rest of the games this year.
