@jessejayhawk He played 1 minute in their first game. Maybe they try because of Dave but I think they would be better off swarming him like Tarleton did.
KU is a 25.5 point favorite tonight
We good.
I'd take Marcus on this year's team in a second. He could have gone back to being a junkyard dog wing. That said, great decision for him to start getting regular checks.
@BeddieKU23 Yeah Baylor has next level scheduling bad teams strat. It might not look like it to some people but they schedule much worse competition from those lower leagues than schools like KU do. They also tend to have some games that count against actual D2 comp every year.

Certainly an intriguing option. Definitely has more size the Harris/Pettiford/Yesufu so I can see the need
Staff definitely wants a bigger guard. I think that was the 5th signee they wanted that Bill was referring to.
Would be a huge victory to get him from a Nike school. That said...recruiting appears to be on an uptick and getting Zuby surprised me.
Bill didn't say that because he isn't coach K, he won't say those kind of things about opposing players. We all remember how it went when Greene did it.

The people who voted Virginia in the Top 25 need to find a new hobby!
Agree.
Did you see Oregon last night? LMAO
And some people thought Jalen got off easy.

Latrell buckets Jossell
@FarmerJayhawk No doubt a stern talking to will be had as well.
Very early for advanced stats but always fun.
I will say the biggest thing to me this year is simply...having a bench at all. Regardless of who people think should start or how Self is using it the options this year are much better than TGF, Bryce, Tristan etc
@BeddieKU23 said in Non-KU Games:
Bryce Thompson's stellar shooting at KU translating well to Oklahoma St so far.
In 3 games shooting a blistering, wait for it...
40% FG, 27% 3ptFG%, 33% FT%, 0 assists in 78 minutes.
I'm SHOCKED
Missouri down 9 to UMKC at the half.
@benshawks08 said in 2021-22 PER's & Stats:
@BShark We are giving up points but definitely feels like we are playing high possession games so the D numbers could actually be there. But I never know how Kenpom comes up with numerically based pre-season rankings...
A lot of it is based on historical precedent with players and the program. By the end of the season all that stuff is gone though.
This was never going to be an elite defensive team given the pieces but every time with Bill give me a team that can score it, he will make the defense work well enough. He did make a FF with his worst defensive team by far... Helps to have 5 pros in your rotation, it turns out.
@BeddieKU23 said in 2021-22 PER's & Stats:
KU is Kenpom #3- #3 offense, #5 defense so far.
Would have thought our defense was dog crap but I at this point the preseason stuff is still heavily factored in.

I think more than Juan vs. Pettiford, the more important trade off to watch is JCL vs. Braun minutes.
CB is the better overall player. JCL is a really nice bench spark plug piece to have and I hope he is in the 15-20 minutes range.
@Kcmatt7 said in Let's talk about Bill.....:
I think we've seen 2 games and don't know who will give us the higher ceiling yet. Bobby has looked great, but Juan has been just fine. I think it'll be interesting to see how the rotation works out when Jalen is back.
I think Juan offers a style of unselfish pure PG play that this team needs when you are playing at least 3 of Ochai, Remy, Wilson and Dave at the same time. Bobby has only been in for stretches. Is he able to play that way consistently if given extended minutes?
Good problems to have.
According to his AAU coach (I think it was AAU and not HS) coach on the Phog Bobby is the kind of kid that will do w/e is asked of him in terms of playstyle. Definitely looks like the staff has mostly asked him to distribute as well.
Raiders by double digits tbh
@approxinfinity I think we lack post depth compared to 08 but then it is a bit less important now.

I rest my case.
Promise?
If this is a HEM alt we know the answer to that
Zach has been practicing well and Remy hasn't, so I don't think Bill values practice as much as is implied. It is fair to say Bill overvalues safe players and overlooks faults in his favorites.
While I would like to see Zach get more time it actually was a bad match-up. So much so that he pulled Dave too. I doubt we will play another team that small all year. Hopefully he ends up being the primary back-up big along with Jalen.
Harris has a definite ceiling as a player but I have seen nothing from Yesefu in limited time at KU or looking over his games year 2 at Drake that tells me he should be the first guard off the bench right now. If you are looking for Harris, a starter to end up 10th in the rotation you are going to be disappointed. Similar to CB and 8th when he has been 2nd in minutes played behind Ochai. I could see him eventually coming off the bench when Jalen is back but he would be the first off the bench and still playing big minutes.
Weah is why you want guys in Europe. His soccer iq is off the charts due to being in the PSG youth system.
What a game!
@approxinfinity This is a fun one so far

Is this Clemens first action?
Tonight yes, he had 7 points against MSU. Don't think Self felt comfortable playing him due to Tarleton not really playing any bigs.
Zach is amazing
@Crimsonorblue22 playoffs?
Walk ons will probably kill the cover, damn.

Scanning the scores, Furman beating Louisville seems to be the biggest name losing to a midmajor
UNC down to Brown rn
EXCUSE MOI?
THE COVER IS BACK IN PLAY
Fun to have two players that can't score in at the same time in crunch time.
@stoptheflop said in Tarleton Game Thread:
DMac with only 4 pts. Harris 0
Yeah, I don't understand why Bill seems to love Harris so much. He's OKAY but can't score at all.
@DanR said in Tarleton Game Thread:
Gillispi is a good coach so he doesn't need the info, but I always wonder in these games if bill just tells the other coach and refs what to exploit.
Also, he knows Self really really well.
One foul on Tarleton this half the way they are hacking? OKAY
Refs are really letting them play lol
Like I said more JCL
Harris can not shoot. Last year was flukey small sample size
@stoptheflop said in Tarleton Game Thread:
Anyone else pissed we can't slow down the only two Texans that can score? Maybe we aren't trying
Bill is gonna have some words for them after this game
I thought KU's timeout before was supposed to be the media timeout to avoid this crap?
