Theory: Bill is contractually obligated to lose in Stillwater.
Dedric was hammered after he made it lol
This team might've missed the tournament without Bill.

Probably making up for the shaky charge call.
That's a travel?

Team is playing well, that miss by Dotson is a good look.

Last two times and not called.
That last three was such trash
I'm hoping 3 years but 2 is very possible.
:poop:
There's a lot of "he shouldn't have gone to Kansas, Self sucks" in that article from anonymous coaches. :/
Vecenie's wrap-up is really good.

Duke is now recruiting Trendon Watford. Pretty sure they haven’t been on him until now. I know there is some Hurt and Duke smoke but wonder if this is a back up plan.
( I know Duke can take multiple 5* kids at the same position)

Duke isn’t even listed on his schools of interest so certainly this is new .
I misread this. That’s seemingly good news... although they need all the bodies they can get it looks like
Yeah, as things stand Duke honestly wouldn't be that good next year. I expect they will get that taken care of though.
I still fully expect RJ to end up there next season.
Add in Hurt, and all of a sudden that starting 5 is 5 Top 50 freshman.
Gross but true. They are the runaway #1 if they had Hampton and Hurt.

Bill does the same thing. It’s not 100% that they’ll sit the whole rest of the half, but until recently he would banish players with 2 fouls to the bench for the half esp if there is less than 5 minutes left. He also sits them with four fouls until less than 5 minutes dare left as well.
Wade isn’t 100% and ended up fouling out, so it’s hard to say this was a terrible call. The other kid probably should have been allowed to play thru his foul problems though. Guards typically can adjust their game better to avoid calls than big men.
I just hope Weber can scew up a game down the stretch to give KU a chance.
I think the even worse call was playing Wade when he was clearly hurt.

@BShark That's what I was afraid of -so we need to run from that situation with Precious
Not gonna happen. Self wants him bad.
As he should, imo. One of the very few game changing type recruits KU could get this class.

KU watched him last night.

KU is said to be recruiting Harlond Beverly and Tristan Enaruna as well.

If and when Miller gets fired at Zona there will be a free for all on their #1 ranked recruiting class as well.
Not sure how hard KU is going after Beverly (and I don't think he would move the needle on next year's squad) but Enaruna is really good. He'd be a really nice get if Hurt ends up at Duke.
Agree on Arizona and I think Nnaji could end up at KU.
RE Precious: pretty sure it's basically known info that he is going to the highest bidder.
@nuleafjhawk @Hawk8086 It's one of the most baffling things in all of sports. It's like there is some decree that says you must sit players with 2 fouls. If there isn't a huge drop-off to the next guy I am okay with it but if there is you are just better off to play them. Refs don't want to foul out good players (usually) plus let's say you sit a guy for 10 minutes in the first half. That might absolutely bury you so what's the point if he plays the rest of the second half. Maybe the player fouls out with 5 minutes left, maybe not.

Bill Self said on HawkTalk tonight that Grimes showed more activity and energy last night. So he saw what @Fightsongwriter saw.
He also gave a clue as to what many of us suspected. He said that when things don’t go well for Grimes it impacts his “psyche.” And that decreases his energy. The use of the word “psyche” is incredibly telling and linking it to his energy explains a lot of what we’ve seen.
I was talking about it in the game thread and with a buddy. VERY noticeable to these old eyes.

@BShark Whooo boy....that's all we need.
Well at least KU managed to scrape by KSU without him. It's been pretty evident that he hasn't been right the last couple games or so.
@bcjayhawk Heard he re-aggravated his injured shin.
@jayhawkcsg Ochai is hurt.

@BShark of coarse, he's just to damn good to lose straight up lol.
Bruce has never lost a game in his own mind.

@FarmerJayhawk Would be a dream to land him. Wouldn't even care if Hurt went to Duke. Though right now Hurt is the better offensive player.
Either one. The perimeter is going to be salty.
Agree. With or without Grimes. I hope it's with though.
Bruce of course always has a bag of excuses. Mentioned Wade playing hurt.
@FarmerJayhawk Would be a dream to land him. Wouldn't even care if Hurt went to Duke. Though right now Hurt is the better offensive player.
Oh and the foul differential tonight was 9 in favor of KU. In Manhattan it was 8 in favor of KSU. Tale as old as time.

Hard to complain about much, tough outing for Ochai. I like that Bill made the adjustment to switch everything in the second half, which was big in not giving them wide open looks. I was ticked early because we gave them that as we did Saturday. I hate to complain on Dedric to much, guy was a monster on the glass tonight but man 18 points from 20 shots. I liked aggressive Q aswell.
Dedric is always gonna take shots so nothing new there. The percentage was bad tonight for sure though. Got blocked a lot.
As for the D, I loved the gameplan tonight. KSU doesn't have blazing speed so play them tight.
@FarmerJayhawk Wade and Barry are now what, 1-10 against KU? lol
Also, the scotch of choice has been noted and will be reserved for future big games.
Bill is jacked. He wanted this one.

Big time salute to Dotson tonight on the D he played on Brown. He completely shut him down and took him out of the game. Big time effort from Devon.

I hope they don't review Lawson's elbow to DWade there.
Yeah that looked pretty bad.
approxinfinity said:
@BShark but honestly, why Dedric and not Big Dave? I think Big Dave could protect a lead as well or better than Dedric, provided rest of team is scoring.
I think he'd get torched on D by this KSU line-up and he just isn't ready on offense still.
To lighten the mood.
Yikes

Self is playing with fire with this lineup
Agree.
Dotson, Grimes, Agbaji, Mitch, Dedric is what I'd roll with.
Maybe Garrett over Agbaji idk.
