Dotson WYD.

Never getting called on ISU in Ames.

Positives are we are rebounding excellent and only down 6 with 18 TOS.
The turnovers are absurd today. Don't deserve to win a game like this.
Kaden Archie will transfer from TCU.
Weird decision to me. He came in to a roster with lots of returning players but a couple guys he is competing for PT with this year won't be there next year.
KU might be the third best team in the B12. Maybe.
Kind of an issue.
@approxinfinity Inside info on Dotson? The plan originally was more than 1 year at KU. But obviously he is playing very well right now.

Cross another name off the list. Kofi Cockburn is going to Illinois. Rumor is Khalil Whitney to come later...
Oh man, if Illinois takes a player from Cal. HA.
BeddieKU23 said:
Agree with all of it. Was just updating those who dont follow it as closely. Not expecting to land anyone at the moment
Yeah if all of a sudden Baugh committed, that would mean the staff expects a guard to leave early.
Right now technically KU is at capacity. Vick leaving + 1 open slot and two guards signed.
The expectation was for Grimes to leave early, but he could very well play his way out of a draft slot. Maybe that balances out by DD playing his way into being drafted, only time will tell. I'm more concerned about adding an impact combo forward type like Achiuwa or Hurt. Who are both definitely 4s at KU but are very good and flexible players. I would prefer Hurt for his offense.

KU was in Memphis to see unsigned 6'4 guard Damion Baugh. Same aau squad as Vick. Looks good and athletic. Hes ranked #141 on 247
Certainly seems to be an option in case Dotson leaves. Why else recruit another combo point guard.. ut oh
I wouldn't read too much into it with Dotson, but it is a possibility. The bulk of recruiting this year could just be getting guys to come back.
BeddieKU23 said:
Recruiting has been slow but looks like the staff is recruiting Matthew Hurt, Achiuwa, Baugh and Cassius Stanley.
I think we can cross Stanley off the list soon.
Funny that Baugh released a "final 10" that does not include KU back in August but I would bet that KU could get him if need be.
I've read the comments about KU recruiting Achiuwa hard but we all know what happened if he ends up playing a year in Lawrence.
Given all the other schools involved, I just don't feel great about landing Hurt at all.
@HighEliteMajor Frank was great, but FR Dotson has been much better than FR Frank.
I don't think we will get 4 years of Dotson though, so Frank will likely end up with the better KU "career".
Texas Hawk 10 said:
@HighEliteMajor Dotson is faster and quicker than Mason was. Dotson is also lightyears ahead of where Mason was as a freshman. If Dotson stays for all 4 years, doubtful, he'd likely have just as good, if not better overall senior season than Mason. The one thing Mason was better at than Dotson is now is 3 point shooting.
Or what he said, basically.

He turned a couple of corners last night that were just unreal. Has that Tyreek Hill effect where he makes fast guys look not fast. They think they have the angle and then he just runs right around them. Dotson is a stud.
He's the fastest guard Self has had with the ball. And a special shout out to everyone who argued with me about that (wasn't here).
@BeddieKU23 I have little doubt money will determine where he transfers to.
He had his chance to come to KU.
Ryan is right in that KU doesn't need ANOTHER true 5 let alone an undersized one.
BigBad said:
He is fun to watch. If he could hit the 3 a bit more consistent he could be an all conference guy.
If we are lucky enough to see him in Lawrence for awhile, this could develop nicely. His shot isn't broken and he has been passable from three while being very selective so far this season.
kjayhawks said:
He quickly becoming one of my favorites, Selby was a PG? Thought he was a SG? Tyshawn played the point when Selby was here but he may have been listed as a PG in high school so he could have the ball.
Selby was absolutely listed at and recruited as a PG. In practice, he wasn't really a PG though.

Hope we play better next game or it will be a blow out.
ISU beat the worst team in the league by 6.
Crimsonorblue22 said:
Texas beat KSU by 20?
Yep
That was a foul on Dedric but I mean I'll take the no call all things considered.
kjayhawks said:
Why Vick has been out while Charlie has been in the past 2 minutes against this zone is piss poor coaching by self.
I don't get it either
Not sure why Charlie is in the game tbh
CHUCK
FRANNNNNNNNN SHUT UP
SHUT UP FRAN
lol okay

Wow. That happens to Doke every time he touches the ball.
Or much much worse...
Oh hey it's crunch time and Garrett is on Manek.
stoptheflop said:
Garrett is just embarrassing on offense.
He was fouled

Low Lon
I mean, it's Bill's fault for leaving Doke in.
Fudge off Fran.
Not sure why Bill went back to Dedric + Doke
Also, Dotson with some globetrotter shit against the Oklahoma Generals.
Attaboy Q
So that was logged officially as a turnover on Grimes, but blah.

I still small ball is better with this club, alternate between doke and Lawson, ride the hot hand.
Self knows this deep down too. When games have been tight down the stretch he has frequently went small.
Gives the post player enough room to operate inside. Just not enough shooting and speed on the court otherwise. Defense is "good enough".
KirkIsMyHinrich said:
If Dotson hadn't picked up his 3rd foul on the bad charge call then I say we're up by 20 right now.
Strongly agree.

Small ball is fools gold.
A+ post.
So, and bare with me on this because it's a scorching hot take: Dedric is better when he makes lay-ups.
Self is in KJ's head at this pt. We have seen this before. Hopefully he becomes better for it but it won't be this year.

Kj with his first appearance

OMG GARRETT HIT TWO FTS!

We were obviously grossly spoiled with the shooters we have had the past seasons especially last two years, but to go to this is brutal.
Kind of an insane contrast.
KU has some shooters on the way, but idk how ready they will be to play next year.
KU is 62% from 2. Just force it, anything is better than threes with this team.
BeddieKU23 said:
At some point self has to decide whether he can play Garrett in a big lineup. I say no. It's sad watching every defender sag 5 feet
Definitely can't afford it.
KU is 3-18 for three and many have been open looks.
7 points 8 minutes into the half. That's pretty BRUCE-ish.
Crimsonorblue22 said:
I loved bahe
He can definitely keep climbing this career ladder in broadcasting if he wants to.

Gotta get Garrett out. OU isn't guarding him at all

End the half up 15 and go almost 5 minutes without a basket. Ugh
One could say consistency is an issue.
