@JayHawkFanToo Tremendous wingspan helps negate that disadvantage though.

@Crimsonorblue22 It's nonsense talk, you are right. @HighEliteMajor is right. People love to talk about playing huge but it's a disadvantage and never happens because Self isn't crazy. KJ has the ability to play the 3 and is really long. All of the defensive options KU might roll out at the three (KJ, Garrett, Grimes) are capable of playing great defense at the college level.

@drgnslayr can he guard a nova 3 or 4 man?

KJ and Dedric have the tools to be elite defensively at the college level.

@justanotherfan I think he will be a terror at the college level. NBA level is where it gets murky imo.

FIBU U18 Self/Manning/Grimes • Jun 10, 2018 11:35 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 He will. If it's not Duke (unlikely) it will be Oregon. Nike won't let him end up in Lawrence.

@Texas-Hawk-10 I trust that hopefully Self has tightened up his shot selection. Big part of it imo. Don't want him taking many guarded threes, but I have no issue with open looks.

There are a lot of unknowns going into next season. Our coaching staff has done a good job getting guys to improve their 3 point shooting. Mason improved from a .327 to a .429 between freshman and sophomore year. Selden improved from a .328 to a .365 that same summer. Svi went from a .288 to a .402 between his 1st and 2nd year. One of our incoming freshmen could also have a great 3 point shooting year? Grahams freshman year he shot a .425 from 3 point land. Jackson shot .378 his freshman year too. Who is to say that Grimes and Dotson can not be similar to Graham and Jackson? If Garrett is putting up 1000 shots a day his numbers will improve. From everything I have read most of our bigs can stretch the floor out to the 3pt line too. I am optimistic that our squad will be deadly at all 5 positions. From what I have heard from the guys everyone is improving and there has been no drop off in talent just an increase in depth so this team is primed and ready for another final 4 trip. I also heard that they could go with 4 small guys and a big but it would be unfair given the talent and depth in the frontcourt so don't expect to see it unless another team is running similar offense.

Agree this staff does a great job with kids and improving their shot.

As for bigs stretching the floor Mitch and Dedric are guys you don't mind shooting threes. McCormack from what I have heard has a decent midrange game but not out to the 3 line yet. Similar for SDS IF he plays. Doke of course is inside only.

It says it will go live on facebook and the fiba youtube. I'll post a live link when there is one.

@jaybate-1.0 I don't take opiods but thanks.

As for your original post, I actually don't entirely disagree. It's a very interesting case study to even compare say, the original text of Mark Twain compared to what is available now. I was just having a bit of fun.

Never one to let facts get in the way.

If Draymond was officiated normally and CP3 didn't get hurt. :thinking:

But yeah GS is very good.

Paging Jaybate's doctor.

Yeah I don't think he can get much higher than 33% next year. Something like 34-35 would be best case scenario.

@justanotherfan As long as Garrett can drag his number up to about 32% I think KU should be fine.

TIFWIW: A poster on the Phog with typically good info has said KU has been nut punched with JRE and that Roy/UNC are now firmly in the lead.

@jayballer73 Will be an excellent multi-year guy. Very skilled, SMOOOOOOOOOOOTH shot. Seems like KU is pretty serious. Maybe it will be wrapped up by fall.

I had a garage sale once, never again! Had a table of items for .50 cents. People would ask me if I would take a dime. I finally said if you can't pay 50 cents you can just have it free. Goodwill is a fabulous organization! People steal at garage sales. They are mean!

@wissox Fair enough.

I do think Keegan is overhyping McCormack a bit. I don't think he is a guy that is going to come in and dominate year one. Buuut that's not the end of the world as he should be a 4 year guy.

Keegan Gushing Over McCormack • Jun 06, 2018 08:35 PM

@justanotherfan I think McCormack and Agbaji will be real good for KU in time. Self has generally done well with smart players that just need to develop physically more. And really, it sounds like McCormack took it upon himself to really better himself in that regard over his SR year.

I'm thinking McCormack ends up a 3 year starter, Agbaji 1-2 year starter. Will be interesting to see if he takes a RS this year. That would actually say a lot about his long term plan and what the staff thinks about him (quite positive). I think more likely is that he saves his RS year just in case he ends up transferring.
