Do not want.
The funny thing is UK is recruiting him and will probably get a visit.

I don't like to add any additional pressure to incoming freshmen... but I see Silvio as our best post prospect for development since JoJo! I am still pinching myself on this unexpected, quick commitment!
At one point he was top 5 in this class. I agree he will be absolutely great for the team if he stays more than one year. Even just for next year he should help the front court tremendously to bridge to the 19 class.
KU is still the worst team in the league imo. That doesn't mean the team has to go winless in league though.

My speculation is that Silvio is likely 6'8" barefoot now and done growing.
Sounds like we are in complete agreement then actually. And I feel his size is completely fine for a college 4.

How about Turner Gill about to beat Baylor!?!?
Awesome stuff. Baylor deserves to lose, a lot.

Peyton Bender just became the first #kufball QB to throw 4 touchdowns in a game since Reesing in 2009.

Ehhh, hoping for better 2nd half. - need work on the run - -17 yds on 11 carries- - isn't gonna get it done, got to make them respect the run. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
Yeah the run game has been embarrassing against a weak FCS opp...
Peyton Bender da gawd.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I'd hope so. Savage is crap.
Texas has PROBLEMS on defense.
Remember that time when Duke had a bunch of top recruits, was preseason #1 and lost to KU and didn't make it out of the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Who is your team? Or do you just not care for the NFL?
Right but he probably grew some since two years ago.
@JayHawkFanToo THE UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS FUDGE PLAYER HEIGHTS? WHY I NEVER. :joy:

We sure could use a few more regular posters on here.
Final game loss complaining, politics, and lack of basketball news has driven most away. When the games start back up most will be back.
Pro tip: block the politics section and you will like your fellow bucketeers more.
I generally don't open that section. If I wanted to talk politics I'd be on a political board.
And you are right when games start more people should be back.

Supposedly 6'7" 2 years ago and 6'9" in shoes recently. Cole Aldrich 1.5" shoes?
That 6'7'' was without shoes and legit. He's probably grown a bit since then. Let's see what KU lists him at and how he compares. My guess it 6'8'' seems fairly likely.
Right, but that's not funny. Remember Cole's measurement at the combine? 6'9" in shoes 6'7.5" barefoot.
Normally shoes only add 1" not 1.5" I, apparently, am easily amused.
I got the joke but did want to mention his actual height. I certainly don't think he is in the 6'5-6'' range like some do.
@KUSTEVE That steals part is pretty spot on. I watched his U19 games with Angola and he extremely active and disruptive on the defensive end. Self is gonna love this kid.
Speaking of Central Michigan I saw their first game. KU had better beat them............

Like JoJo and Diallo, the NCAA will find some reason to disrupt his pt. He will likely go through some bogus eligibility check.
Who wants to bet? Regardless of his legitimate record, they will find some lame reason.
I don't remember that with Embiid and everyone knew that the Diallo situation would be a mess, it was well documented and a big reason Cal didn't make a harder push. Silvio has been at IMG and was at Montverde before that. Legitimate schools and also solid coaching at the HS level.

Yeah, they had been on this kid for years now.
Also, Capel has been on fire.
Not serious. Quickley is a wildcat, he just hasn't announced it yet.
That’s good to hear. The next one up is Kansas. How did the Jayhawks
make the list? What impact does Silvio De Sousa choosing them have on
your recruitment at all?
Well, Kansas is a much bigger school. Coach Self is a great coach.
Coach Howard is a guy I have a close relationship with. They’ve done a
good job with bigs and fours with my playing style, so it was
definitely a program that I could see myself in and see myself playing
in. As far as Silvio De Sousa, I won’t see it as affecting my decision.
I know his playing style. He’s a stretch four player, much more
athletic, so I could see him playing more on the outside than being a
post player like myself.
You’re more of a skilled low-post guy.
Right.
How was that unofficial to Kansas? What was that experience like?
It was a really good experience. They’re more of a college town
probably, a really good college town. It’s really nice. It’s not only
there for a school, but it fits my style of basketball cause Coach
Naismith…
Lots of great players. When you went, did you go both to a game or go
off-season and went around campus?
Just off-season.
In terms of how they see you fitting in, do they see you as more of a
four-five? What’s the plan there?
They definitely see me as more of a four-five, treating my position as
a low-post player.
Could be @Texas-Hawk-10
Pretty sure he can't play against ASU.
@drgnslayr I'm sure the players don't have that attitude. Not a lot of other good teams in the league however...

They also signed Smith who's a Top 40 big and it looks like they relied too much on the Fernando connection here. I can understand them being upset but wow that's a salty bunch that has gotten way ahead of itself in where it stands in the pecking order of College Basketball. KU flexed its muscle here with De Sousa and I'm glad the kid fell in love with everything KU on his visit.
Yeah and honestly Jalen Smith is very good. They should be happy they had such a great talent sitting in their back yard. Such a heavy lean that Turg couldn't blow it. Lol.
Plus Fernando is definitely a multi-year player aaaand MD is making a hard push for Moses Brown. If you are De Sousa honestly the path to playing time looks easier at KU. Especially if he was told Preston and Doke are leaving. He will be the #1 option at C in that scenario.
@jayballer54 He decided to come back for a 2nd visit so I'd say he is interested in KU.
@BeddieKU23 Yep, Adidas should be helpful this year. I think Maryland did have an inclination about De Sousa as they started showing interest in a couple post players in the 200 ranking range.
It definitely appears as if the staff is confident. Haven't seen a redoubled effort on a kid such as Dosunmu or Carey.
Hmm, Florida really does have a lot of PGs visiting. Including a top 100 in state prospect that they are probably a lock for. Hopefully this means something...
Recruiting is funny. It was believed last year that by far KU's best shot at a big in 2018 was Carte'are Gordon. Then Self's nemesis Pig Face slams the door on that one. So of course Self gets a long perceived Maryland lean and then it comes out later that De Sousa had been long interested in KU and was hoping for an offer/visit.
Anyway I agree I think he is a tremendous player and if he had been active in the AAU circuit more he'd still be top 15 I think. Not that rankings change what kind of player he is. Just like Garrett though I think he could be undervalued. Though Garrett was on a different scale, they bumped him up to the 50 range just about right before his commitment to KU iirc.
Matt Scott mentioned on the shiver that Grimes' visit situation "might get a little weird". Whatever that means.
Fightsongwriter said:
Like his strength and feel for the game. But for 6-9 he looks an awful lot like he is 6-6.
Well if that's true, it's good news for Silvio, Self will give him loads of minutes. :joy:
This sure beats the how does Self even fill the roster discussions.
I like Dotson's game more that Moore and I think Moore is a back-up guy but obviously Dotson hasn't proven himself at the D1 level yet.
@Kcmatt7 I agree entirely about Vick, hope I didn't imply otherwise. He would make the most sense because he can realistically go, unlike KJ or Cunliffe.
I'd LOVE for Doke to stay. If we see McCormack sign with KU I think that means Doke is gone.
I think De Sousa will be 20-25 mpg barring anything crazy either way.
De Sousa sounds like he wants to be OAD, but isn't locked into it. Dotson and Grimes are definitely 2+ year players. They will be okay next year but with time in the program will be an absolute load to handle. Hope KU gets both for sure.
@Kcmatt7 We will see what happens if in fact KU signs all these players but I would assume Cunliffe will be unhappy. KJ should get post minutes ahead of Lightfoot. Just my guess.
@Texas-Hawk-10 He was and I agree it would be ideal to not play Graham 1 million minutes a game and limit Newman's time at PG.
Kcmatt7 said:
@approxinfinity I do. If we have Mitchell Robinson on the roster right now, I'm sure that scares some guys away.
In that case yes, I agree. But if it were, say, Jack Whitman or some other scrub I don't think it matters.
@approxinfinity I don't think that factored in. I think he was told that Preston and Doke are gone and that he would immediately be a top 2 post on the roster.
Also I would classify McCormack as developmental, idk if you do or not.
@Texas-Hawk-10 It would be an incredible class and...the crazy thing is it's within reach/possible.
Agree on positions for the most part. Basically the only disagreement is that I will believe Garrett at the PG when it happens. The rest, definitely on the same page.
2019 Rankings update on Rivals.
Malik Hall has surged for 49th.
JRE 16, Chandler 19, Harvey 38, Jacobs 74.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Started with Perry imo. Self pretty much changed the offense for Perry. From what I could tell.
Overhyped? Maybe, but he's still reaaaaally good which is what matters.
@mayjay Don't think we are going to see too many more Josh Jacksons.
