Weird Kenpom thing this year (to me) is Shaka Smart coaching the best offensive team in basketball. Incredibly efficient scoring. Was always a "defense first" coach, at least how people looked at him after VCU.

Still can't figure out why he struggled so much at UT. Apparently not just a one-trick pony, and not a bad coach. I think he suffered a bit from turnover. Mo Bamba, Jarrett Allen, Jaxson Hayes, etc. Not excusing his inability to win despite landing elite talent, but certainly weird to see him succeed elsewhere.

Player retention is insanely underrated.

Yeah I definitely think he should be able to express himself how he wants. It's just a bit over the top for me personally. I know Baylor while he was there leaned into religion for recruiting and negative recruiting especially against KU. Don't know how much of that was Tang of course.

I'm sure Bill got very excited when Zach finished through contact but yeah we don't need much from our bigs. KJ did still almost get his average while being limited due to fouls and such. As few minutes as I can remember him playing in quite awhile. Probably since a non-con blowout if I had to guess. Most of our scoring and rebounding for that matter comes from the wings.
