I've seen any big with a pulse do quite well against us. Finally bit us against WVU, because they got whatever they wanted at the rim. Self pulled out the big guns for this game though, with junk defenses. Should have done it more against WVU too, but Huggins is a much better coach than Cal tbf.
Long live the king.
I'm a rascal I watched it.

I wasn't surprised we won- I expected it.
Not sure if this is rational at all but it's pretty cool that you can be blindly optimistic about KU bball and generally be correct.
I couldn't handle posting during this game. It was for the best lol.
Bill Self's theme song.
Does not bode well for Adebayo.
This is easily the team's best win, for anyone wondering.
Yeah I did not see this coming at all. He was a beast in the 2nd half.

@Hawk8086 Junk defense played a big part of this too. HCBS played it like a fox
Wizard.
Lucas shut me up tonight.
Straight fire.
I'm sorry for doubting you. You are a wizard.
Yours truly, BShark.
Here is some more Lightfoot hate from the Phog for your reading pleasure.
"Name a scholarship big in the Self era worse than Lightfoot. Short, no offensive game whatsoever, can't defend, can't rebound, horrific free throw shooter, bad shooter. Bragg has had a very disappointing year for sure, but anyone with eyes and a brain can see Mitch doesn't belong here. He sucks and when he plays we are in trouble."
Kentucky by double digits. I won't be watching.
Yep. He also didn't seem to understand his role. Just an all around frustrating experience.

Thinking about the Dotson visit. It's odd a 2018 recruit is visiting mid-season. Have to wonder if the staff will push for a commitment if possible.
I believe that's what is going on here.
@BeddieKU23 said:
Interesting KU has reached out to Shaq's son a Top 50 recruit in 18.. Didn't think we were going to try with that one.
Meh, don't really want.

I wouldn't mind seeing us hit the grad transfer route, Black was a success before. We have been more active in that market the last few years. It will be interesting to see what's available after season's end. No matter who's back we don't have enough post depth or size and that needs to change
Not a bad idea at all.
Enh just calling it like I see it. The ineligibility wasn't the problem, it was Self not playing a 5 star recruit basically at all. That burns bridges. I'm not even saying Self was all that wrong tbh (though I would have liked to see him play a bit more). It was obvious that Diallo had no clue what to do which is a huge pet peeve of Selfs.
This is a drop in the bucket in terms of recruiting impact compared to the Diallo debacle imo.
I'm wondering now if there are any possible reclass situation for post players we are in on in the 18 class. Either need that or a grad transfer probably for depth next year.

He'll have to play bigger then he is especially in the next 2 games.
My question stands here. If Mitch or Dwight were ready to step-in why has it taken 20 games and a suspension to get there. As you said its not like Bragg has played well where his game can't be replaced. Mitch in the last two games has started to show some hint of improvement. Dwight has sat so many games its hard to expect anything other than his 5 fouls.
They aren't ready, but one or both will have to play now. Sucks.

See ya Carlton.
I have no problem saying your done here.
Wouldn't break me up inside. KU will be okay next year in the post if it's Doke/Preston/Lightfoot/random late recruit.
Lightfoot is Jet Li :scream:
I had to bad mouth kids but this just can't be good w/e it was!
Violation of team rules. Unrelated to McCarthy Hall incident. Good grief.
Interesting. I have no idea of course I just thought it might be a possibility given that he has had to take time off lately.

@BeddieKU23 I looked up Simi...holy cow...he reminds me of JJ.
Yeah he's really good. Not sure why we haven't thrown the hat into that one.
Maybe Self is burnt out on raw African players? No idea though lol.

Wanted to give a shoutout to BShark, Beddie, Jayballer, KC Matt and the gang for keeping the recruiting news coming. You all do a great job, and I really appreciate the info you dig out, and divulge. Keep 'em coming....
Right on.

Hopefully the constant updates lead to good news sometimes. Really important to finish 2017 class with top talent and look to 18 to fill needs which could be everywhere
Need Trae for sure.

Oh and I'd kill for Zion or Langford but no chance. Seems like we might be able to sneak Hamilton out of NC if we need a wing.
Definitely we are just "there" with those guys. I have to think we might have playing time available which could change things
Zion and Langford feel like Dukies to me. Of course, if K has to step away that changes everything.

I think we should be selective. 18 class is down. Grimes, Dotson seem to be two we have a great chance with. We should be all in on Emmitt Williams. ALL in.
This summer will be interesting to see what we go after. 19 class has guys we really want.
18 is a really weak class indeed. Don't want to mess up 19, but we will have to see how many bodies KU needs. Completely agree with the three you listed. Duke will press for Grimes and maybe AZ too. That one will be a battle. the other two I think KU can for sure land if the staff presses for them.
19 has a lot of NBA level talent though. And ya 19 has a lot of strong KU leans. Gotta close em of course but Harvey and Robinson Earl I think are in the bag if KU presses for commits. Hell there is a rumour that JRE is already silently committed. However we know how that can go, doesn't mean a thing yet. Sherfield is from KS (Wichita) originally but maybe signing Jacobs already hurts KU there. Leech is from rural Missouri. Basically only us, ISU and UW recruiting him atm. UW might be the main contender here but his recruitment could explode, legit talent. Hurt is a complete stud but I don't honestly know much about his recruitment.

Jalen Carey listed as a SG on ESPN ranked #12 SG. Will be a Top 100 kid when they expand the rankings. Hope we stay on this one.
If KU needs to take a third guard in the class I really hope it's him.
Yeah I'd just like to see him pop before possibly Duke shows serious interest.
I'd be surprised if he isn't a Jayhawk. Staff has prioritized him. Would love to see him commit to KU soon.
Devon Dotson visiting Feb 4.
Wide open year. There is no runaway favourite.
Did not see this thread before posting in general. Whoops.
Yep absolutely nothing wrong with having a couple kids like Mitch on scholarship.
This thread is mildly better than the Mitch Lightfoot hate thread on the Phog right now.
Defense was completely terrible and it was a team effort.
Of course that kid makes two free throws. Crazy.
Gotta pass that Mitch.
These refs are never calling that against WVU in Morgantown.
Great minutes from Mitch so far.
3-6 from three and 1-5 from 2. Makes sense.
Losing to UK means 3 conference losses.

Rayford Young tells me son @TheTraeYoung is still considering @OU_MBBall, that the Youngs talked w @LonKruger today & meeting Tues. @NEWS9
Interesting. Supposedly he gave KU the ole "silent verbal" a little bit ago. This obviously conflicts with that.
