@wrwlumpy I see that now.
@wrwlumpy LOVE YOUR PICS, but that is Spieth not Leonard with the Green Jacket. I believe Leonard won the British Open.
@BeddieKU23 You are right, LL is really great screening (Sasha similarity).. The alley oop tomahawk dunk by Josh was set up by a great screen by Landon off a side inbound pass from JJ to Frank back to JJ. Self gets more easy baskets on those than anyone. Svi was terrific also. Graham and Frank down some on offense but both were pretty good on defense (strong effort) especially in the first half.
Merry Christmas!
@DoubleDD He plays hard.
@Ralph "That is not a CAT!!". (Ross from Friends episode)
@jayballer54 Tommy Smith, Suttle, Tony Guy. Good stuff. Kellogg still has the prettiest shot I have ever seen.
@Crimsonorblue22 103-67
@Blown The first thing that came to my mind too! USSR ... keep replaying until they score!
@REHawk Doug was a pass first, second, & third point guard (very good at it) but has never appreciated scoring point guards. To be honest Frank is not a great passer and seldom looks to pass when he drives, but he is a terrific scorer. I for one have always thought DG has better point guard skills as far as getting others invlolved. In my opinion (not worth 2 cents) they should mix it up more with each taking on the point more often. I thought we would see this coming in to the year, but that hasn't been the case, so far.
I will go hide now and read the posts of those more intelligent than I.
@BeddieKU23 Welcome Marcus!
@mayjay Paradise all the same. I was there last December, foolishly the week after KU.
@mayjay Everything there is a volcano!
@wrwlumpy Great job with the pics,
as always!
Zobrist is a class act, MVP much deserved.
@brooksmd Lester would have thrown it into center field.
@wrwlumpy Those tornado pics are not a comforting sight being from the Joplin area.
@jaybate-1.0 Nice Steve Austin reference! Too bad so few are old enough to get it.
I think KU - Texas in the 2008 Big XII tourney was one the best where both teams played at a very high level.
@Crimsonorblue22 I think it is Cliff Levingston.
@Crimsonorblue22 DG is quickly becoming one of my all-time favorites.
@DanR
My favorites "Shorts on Backwards" for Gottlieb and "You let the whole team down" after a missed layup.
@nwhawkfan Over Marcus Morris.
@JRyman
Kim Anderson should see if the students could stage the next sit-in at the arena!
@Crimsonorblue22 IMO, As far as the vets, I think you will continue to see Mari when the opposing bigs do a lot of screening causing switches. He can cover small players much better than the other 4. LL is the choice when strength is needed. Hunter more against running teams. I think you will see the frosh play more & more in games where they are not a negative with turnovers and blown assignments. Close games not so much.
@benshawks08 I would add that Russ Rob caused many of the turnovers Chalmers got by his tight defense on the passer. Which allowed Mario's terrific instincts and long arms to take over for the steal. They were a great tandem on the defensive end. Pressure on the passer is something that has been missing until this year with Frank & Devonte.
@wrwlumpy
Naval Reserve? Isn't that when you have 2 belly buttons??:wink:
@tis4tim
Sounds great but I don't think you have to give us all "The Finger"!
@wrwlumpy Sure, I live just outside Carl Junction.
Not funny, I fell down stairs and broke some ribs getting out Christmas decorations a month ago, it hurt just thinking about it.
@wrwlumpy
Mac Davis singing "Happiness is Lubbock Texas in the Rear-view Mirror" classic!
@wrwlumpy
Pineville was an island during the recent floods much worse than usual.
IMO Frank is a better scorer on the drive Devonte is a much better passer.
I had the same thought during the game. Is there anyone in the country that gets knocked around more with no foul called? He hits the floor maybe 10-20 times a game, some of that is possibly his style of play and the way he gives up his body. I don't know, but he takes a beating and it may show toward March.
@Crimsonorblue22
I remember we recruited Freeman pretty hard.
Injuries are always a factor, but I still hate to see it!
Lunch Pail 5
Good read Jesse!
good
Perry will get 20 but that's just an average night for him...Hunter won't get enough court time.
So I pick Frank who will play way too many minutes for an exhibition game.
Bracketology lists #3 Kansas Wildcats.
I think winning the conference is important. The only downside I see is possibly playing key players too many minutes per game, Frank for instance, so they are not fresh for the March run and/or playing injured players (Perry, Joel) so they are not able to heal properly by March. These are judgment calls that Self has to make and I don't think his decisions are necessarily incorrect, but we do look like a tired team often in March.
Now about Conference titles, I think Roy once said "if you are going to play you may as well win the 'daggum' thing"!
@jaybate-1.0 Ellis was All Conference wasn't he?
I think it was pretty unanimous, me included though I did not post. Lets face it, Wayne has proved everyone wrong thru 5 games anyway.
it is flooding now!
Interesting that 10 days ago the majority on this board thought in the upcoming season Wayne should be watching Svi & Brannen from the bench. Now he is being touted for POY. How quickly things can change. Great job by Wayne. I hope Svi & Brannen can improve themselves enough for this to be a debate come October.
No harm intended, just an observation.
@jaybate-1.0 The shift to the 3 has another benefit for Wayne's game and that is the chance to crash the offensive boards. At the 2 especially with Frank ending many possessions with a drive, that left Wayne to get back on D as the safety 80% or so of the time. At the 3 he is averaging 7 rebounds per game at the WUG. I think this keeps Wayne more aggressive hence more successful.
@sfbahawk
It should be 2 shots and the ball, but that is not how it is being called. It was obvious Serbia would take the foul every time to keep the USA from running and getting the tempo up.
I'll never understand why teams shoot 3's when they only need 2. Bill would have said to drive it in the same situation.
Nice blockout for the coaches by Gibson.
