Border War Game Thread β€’ Dec 11, 2021 07:45 PM

@Kcmatt7

I would feel a little bit differently if they were any good.

A lot has changed in the last how many yrs since they last played

@jayballer67

That was an ugly game. UConn was without their best player and it made a big difference in the game late

Yeah Davis has been terrific so far this year. Looking like a future leaguer

@Kcmatt7

These things have a way of working out. I see him squarely in the mix for 20+ minutes a game next year. Whether its a starting role or not I don't see him going anywhere especially since he'd have to sit a year if he left. Obv. kids get waivers but its hard to imagine him getting one currently. Also with the way this roster is shaping up for next season Self is going to want a veteran guard with experience in his system. This roster is going to be so young next season

@Kcmatt7

I get your thinking here with Yesufu. I think its still early to write him off though. My expectations for him coming in were high so I've been disappointed in his role so far. But I also haven't found anything to be discouraged at either because he's not getting opportunity.

@stoptheflop

Iowa St plays Iowa tonight as well.

Saturday 9-0 Arkansas comes to Norman to play OU

Sunday Villanova plays Baylor in Baylor.

West Virginia holds on to beat UConn despite shooting 12-27 from the FT line. B12-BE now tied 3-3. KState is probably going to lose though.

Great Foreshadowing, K-St lost of course.

2022 Recruiting Thread β€’ Dec 09, 2021 11:03 AM

PT is there next year.

I'm not concerned about Yesufu as he's yet to get any consistent minutes off the bench. He became really good last year when he got comfortable with the ball in his hands and had to make plays. At KU right now his role is the polar opposite and he's learning what Self wants out of him. Unless his role changes where he can get consistent minutes I expect to see this up and down season from him. Self is not giving him any real chance to prove himself.

Border War Showdown... β€’ Dec 09, 2021 10:58 AM

Just another game, Missouri has zero credibility as a basketball program.

2022 Recruiting Thread β€’ Dec 08, 2021 07:23 PM

@BShark

Yeah and he's from the East Coast so distance from home can become a factor after you don't play for a year etc. I've said in the past the redshirt year does nothing to keep him here after this season now with the rules the way they are.

I'm absolutely pulling for Kyle to stick around so we can see what his defense and elite athleticism can do on the court.

I think with Self losing 6-8 kids he's going to push hard to keep all the freshman happy. You can't go into next year with just a few kids that know what they are doing.

CB is a driver first, shooter as a byproduct of guys leaving him open. That's been his game, including high school.

Took him 3 years but he finally figured it out.

2022 Recruiting Thread β€’ Dec 08, 2021 07:07 PM

@Marco

That's why this year is important on so many levels (especially with the elephant still looming over our head)

2022 Recruiting Thread β€’ Dec 08, 2021 06:54 PM

No way Yesufu leaves, he already used the free transfer year so there's little incentive to leave and sit another year somewhere else. He knows there's a bigger role for him to earn next season.

Hopefully Braun is back to be the "guy". Didn't think I would be saying that but the way he's playing anything is on the table.

Wilson, what is there to say right now. He's not pro material as it stands so transferring is a real option if he continues to come off the bench. We'll see if his play improves and changes the narrative.

Cam is definitely a transfer candidate.

I don't see Cuffe/KJ going anywhere. Self is already losing so much after this year so these guys are needed. Unless you can get a 5 star prospect or a transfer difference maker I don't see either of them going anywhere if they are happy.

There will be so many unknowns next year. On and Off the court.

He’s been a stud. I can’t believe I was wanting him to be the 6th man. Good thing I’m not a coach!

Right there with ya. Thought he would be best coming off the bench and early he didn't do anything on the court to change that thought. But he's been terrific and I was wrong, as I usually am

UTEP Game Thread β€’ Dec 08, 2021 03:28 PM

@Marco

If this 5 game stretch where he's averaged 20 a game continues then he's going to rise up boards and get attention. Still he's a local and having the chance to be the "guy" next year could be appealing as it was for Agbaji this year. No doubt he's going to go through the process the way he's playing. Hard work paying off

Texas Tech took #13 ranked Tennessee to OT and won 57-52. Similarly OU lost in OT to Butler.

Tonight UConn goes to West Virginia, Utah faces TCU & Shaka Smart goes to Manhattan to face Bruce Weber

Yeah I didn't realize it was in KC until midday yesterday and immediately thought that was poor scheduling. Playing UTEP in KC on a Tuesday. Not the brightest of moments. This should have been a home game period.

That sucks.
Every year...somebody loses out on development time. For sure thought Bobby would be a big part of the rotation. Fingers crossed he returns to good health and learns while he's down.

The good part is the next 4 to 5 weeks is 4 games possibly just the start of big 12 play
