gamesmanship. he knew what he was doing. It was a d move 100%
I was just going to post the same thing. That score hurt my eyes
Self said Wilson is the best on the team at pushing pace/transition. Will be something to monitor when he's back
Thanks that's promising
Sure the optics are bad but K has done this time and time again where its just expected

Seton Hall looked like an underrated team coming into the season. Veteran roster there with lots of size so not surprised they knocked off a young Michigan team.
The Oregon drubbing was not expected especially at home. That's a really bad loss.Who did Oregon get beat by ?
BYU at home. LOL

I watched the 1st half of that. I take it they got beat
by 20 while scoring 47 pts

Did N Carolina end up getting beat or did they win ?
UNC won by 11

Looks like a bit of a rebuild year for Wisconsin, very young team. Yeah Davis was avg 15 a game, why did he miss the game?

Checking out Shaka Smart against the Illini. Then the Badgers got Providence.
At what point should have Gard taken the ball away from Crowl and Carlson? Didn't see the game but they went a combined 2-17 from the field. Including Hepburn they were 4-25. Rest of team shot 45%. Wow.
Bryce Thompson's stellar shooting at KU translating well to Oklahoma St so far.
In 3 games shooting a blistering, wait for it...
40% FG, 27% 3ptFG%, 33% FT%, 0 assists in 78 minutes.
Wow, last time I saw a Roos score they were losing by 40 to Dotson & McCormack's career day at the Sprint Center. Good to see Methzu still sucks
Thought Dave struggled defensively against Michigan St. I don't have higher hopes for his D this season then expected. I think he is who he is on that end. Was hoping he'd rebound in that 7-10 a game range and give us his usual 1 block a game or so average. So far he's definitely looked a bit more springy on his vertical for whatever that's worth
PER is definitely more of a measure of how well someone plays offense. It's not the end-all, its certainly helpful in quantifying how well/bad/average someone is playing on that side of the ball. Helps put the eye test to numbers
Better then arguing and quibbling about the 65 Level 1 violations hanging over our head..
After 2 games I would say post play in general is our top overall weakness I see. Mitch is the current backup, enough said. He is however good in certain matchups. It comes down to having a consistent rebounder and rim protector. I think when Self has a dude down low that offenses fear he dials up pressure real well on the perimeter.
He is a combo guard. Good skills with the ball, good size, good playmaker for others, solid perimeter shot. Not sure where we are with him since his AAU team funnels to Nike a lot. I found it extremely odd he committed to Pitt first go round
Hard to tell for sure. I remember Self saying during Late Night he had improved a good bit. Looked in great shape from what little I've seen. Intel leaving the program lately has been tough, we had no idea Jalen Wilson was going to be a starter last season for example.
I came into the season thinking he was the x-factor given the roster. That improvement from Frosh to last year had him on draft radars for a bit. Consistency was hit or miss and also his attitude on the court/sidelines left something to be desired at times. Then he goes and gets the DUI right before the season so that's where my concern lies. If he gives us consistent 11 & 7 production a night he's going to be a difference maker. Hopefully he's matured from this latest setback and is locked in. I thought the key for him was minimizing off-nights. That was something Agbaji made strides with last season. I think that's what I was really looking forward to seeing from Jalen. We definitely need his versatility on offense and rebounding on both ends.
Let's put it this way, he has the chance to be the #2 scorer on this team that already has Remy & Dave fighting for that mantle. Having 4 guys that could be your #1 option on offense is scary.
A measurement of a player's per minute performance. Avg is considered 15. Takes everything into account- offense/defense/turnovers/fouls. It's then adjusted to each player to a per-minute basis, also adjusted for pace of the game.
Player Efficiency Rating
KU is Kenpom #3- #3 offense, #5 defense so far.
If this offense is dependent on Harris making buckets that's a coaching problem. Self added 3600 points in the transfer portal to this team and you can tell already. Ochai Agbaji through 2 games is playing at an Elite level. I think as long as we see the ball get to the right guys hands on offense then Harris playing 25-30 a night probably isn't too much of a concern.
Jalen returning is an interesting dynamic. I'm definitely concerned about him coming back
The Zags are one of the few teams that's going to use that 2 big lineup so the right scheme executed a high level can overcome that. I'd like to see a good team zone them up because I don't think they have the perimeter shooting they had last year.
Hot Take
Dajuan Harris may lead KU to regular-season success but Bobby Pettiford is the key to post-season success. One to frame for later?
Here's how I remember it.
2020-2021- Dave/Jalen Covid situation.
2019-2020- Covid cancels tournament.
2018-2019- Azubuike injured around game 9/10. Vick situation. Mess of a year.
2017-2018- Azubuike suffers knee injury before Big-12 tournament. Played at about 75/80% rest of way.
After that I don't remember as well lol.
I used to get some satisfaction knowing KU lost to good teams. Got over that phase. The Villanova games ended that for me.

PER's after the fist two games. Zach's out of this world PER through 2 games! Ochai Elite through 2.
wow that would be big time. That commitment to Pitt was just weird. Saw Mintz play recently on TV and he looked really good.
Clemence should have played more Friday. Game flow hurt him more then anything. I thought Self should have given Zach an opportunity despite the matchup. Only going to get more difficult to see the floor when Wilson returns
Whooa OP coming with the HEAT.
The Harris debate will rage on all season. We can all see Bobby is really good already for a freshman. He passes the eye test easily. I find it very encouraging that he's averaged 14 minutes so far with such a deep team so you know Bill and the staff are committed to playing him. It's too early to tell who should be playing more so far. I don't see the improvement so far from Harris that makes me think someone like Pettiford couldn't take that spot as the season goes on. But we all know Bill will rely on the guys he trusts and Harris is someone he trusts. I know that's part of the OP's theme here that Bill is who he is, for better or worse. I think putting Pettiford in the starting lineup is premature for now.
Has KU underperformed in March?- no doubt they have. That's why 2020 hurts so bad for me at least (I'm sure many on here feel the same). We had the best PG & C in the country period. But winning in March isn't easy at all and its hard to remember the last time a KU season wasn't derailed by a significant injury/pandemic situation going into the Tournament. I'm certainly hopeful things will change this season
Gonzaga is the worst matchup in the country for KU imo. Timme when he plays like that will be POY. We have nothing that could stop him from getting 30+. Holmgren is the shot blocker among other things. Imagine Dave trying to finesse score his way over a 7 footer with great block instincts. We'd feed the post anyway like usual and lose trying. I'm not saying Gonzaga is a better team overall, I just think they are the worst matchup for KU.
Gonzaga's guard play isn't even close to as good as last season. We know what Bolton is, Nembhard is the catalyst but more of a playmaker then scorer. They have the two freshman guards KU recruited + Julian Strawther a wing KU was after that I liked a good deal.
I think they caught Texas at the right time. Texas was without Vandy transfer Disu that's supposed to be a big part of their frontcourt. What was left to guard the Zag's frontcourt was a few 6'8 types and that's not going to cut it. If you take away Timme going 15-19 from the field Gonzaga shot 42%. This is an outlier game for Gonzaga overall. The game simply came down to Texas inability to stop one guy. Texas definitely looked like a team that doesn't know how to play with each other against good teams yet. 2nd game in a tough environment on the road. Might see a different outcome if they played in March
Rainbow Zach sighting!
I have no idea what dajuan is doing

Does anyone else sing the song when the KU ad plays?
Only Dave can get tied up there
Weird 4 minutes there. Hopefully it's the crowd nerves that will pass
