Mike McGuirl returing to K-St for his 76th season. Hard to imagine someone actively trying to stay with Weber but to each their own
Yeah I think Wahab is looking for a team that will make him a bit better, Georgetown was a jack the 3 team for the most part. He's only a Soph so room to grow.
Note Wong will submit paperwork for the draft, no idea if he will stay in school or transfer but most of the Miami team has ghosted Larranaga so it's something to watch
Isaiah Wong "weighing options".. Self get the batphone out..
I agree. Thinking he doesn't transfer where he'd be 2nd fiddle though. We'll see what happens there
More..
Jimmy Nichols- Providence (kind of long athlete that kills KU)
Josh Carlton- UConn
Watched him in the Big East tourney, he's definitely Bill's guy. I don't expect we'll shake that tree, Wahab is good enough to start anywhere
Former Bryce Thompson teammate Trey Phipps leaving Oklahoma
Elijah Olaniyi of Miami. Averaged 10 and 5.
A really intriguing big just hit the portal, Qudus Wahab from Georgetown. The 6'10 behemoth averaged 12 and 8 and 1.6 blocks. He was a force in the paint for Ewing. Born in the same city as Udoka Azubuike
Congrats to Jones. He and his circle get paid again. Really intriguing talent for the NBA
There was early optimism from Andrew Slater that's pretty plugged into recruiting etc. Seems like things changed behind the scenes as they usually do.
This is where I'm at as well. We don't have the traditional big that's taking Dave's spot after next season on the roster right now. Maybe it ends up being Clemence but he would be a departure from Self's preference. He's already an outlier, he can shoot from the perimeter. Maybe Zach is the future he wants to build around instead of always having a guy he hopes and prays can stretch the floor over time and oppositely guard a big outside. Curry's big and athletic but seems like a flier in the same sense, he really came out of nowhere to commit as well. Either the fact Curry is a + athlete with power will translate immediately or Self would be better off finding a guy right now in the portal. Questions I'm sure he's going through
Pretty much the most ideal situation for next season.
I'm hoping Adams is that guy as the 3rd big. I know he's more of a hybrid 4 but athletically he would give this team exactly what it doesn't have
Interesting to note if not already mentioned, Mckissic won't count against the scholarship count since he's already a Sr. Added benefit here
Of all the players that could possibly leave I was thinking Gethro would stick around just because of the potential down the road but he did go to multiple High Schools and its a free year so there's never going to be an easier time to find another spot then now. Same for Jossell, Enaruna, TGF
Portal hitting 850 today and beyond. Notables from yesterday
As mentioned before Jaemyn Brakefield from Duke
Miller Kopp- Northwestern (2nd leading scorer)
Cameron Johnson- Stephen F Austin (15ppg 2nd leading scorer)
Marcus Tshonis- Washington (2nd leading scorer)
Washington St transfer Aljaz Kunc goes to Iowa St (6ppg)
Shavar Reynolds- Seton Hall (7ppg)
Jason Carter- Xavier
Oliver Maxence Prosper- Clemson
Race Thompson- Indiana (9 ppg)
Parker Stewart- Indiana (was sitting out)
Abdoul Karim Coulibaly- Pittsburgh (5th player to leave)
Wow going from the brotherhood to the dumpsterhood of the sec

TyTy is sooooo good. I'm getting worked up watching highlights.
Too good to be free
Yessir and we have familiarity
No surprise there. He gonna be good by sr yr
Walker will announce this weekend. Not sure when McKissic will pop but obviously Self and the staff have been in quick contact. I think these situations are not exclusive.
To me this does speak to someone in the starting 5 or rotation that won't be returning. That's just a guess right now or they feel McKissic is a good rotation 2 guard that would split minutes with Thompson (theoretically). So many possible moving parts.
I think getting Mckissic would be in addition to another. Self knows he needs guards and he's local that's ideal circumstances. Get one to start, one to have a rotation role. We'll see how it shakes out
Good grief is he long, 7'3 wingspan, 9'5 standing reach, 12'8 jumping reach, 39 inch vert.
In slaterbombs we trust'
Maybe the most ideal part of the season ending is having the chance to recruit him into the weekend.
So far.. I'm sure there's others so add them when you see them.
Kentucky- Clarke, Jackson, Boston
Florida- Tre Mann
Oh boyy. Hope its KU
Health issues for Matta, chronic health issues caused by back surgery
Both were bench players. Believe McCabe was a Jr.
On the Bright Side for next year these guys could all be back to grow, develop and hopefully get KU to the top of the Big-12 and an NCAA championship in 21-22
David McCormack showed he could be a feature scorer at various parts of the season. 19 of 30 games in double figures (including 5 20+ pt games), 6 double doubles. Showed major growth as the season went on in passing out of the post, near 80% FT shooter which is excellent for a big. Became an indispensable starter and offensive force. He needs help though.
Ochai Agbaji led the team in scoring at 14.1, increasing his scoring by 4 ppg. 78 made 3's on 37% shooting, high volume refined his shot in a good way and for the most part was consistent. Cut down on turnovers. Scored in double figures in 24 of 30 games with two 20+ games including a career high 26 against Oklahoma in the Big-12 tourney. Had 8 games of 4 or more made 3's in a game.
Jalen Wilson by far the best rebounder on the team averages a team best 7.9, 11 games of 10 or more rebounds, in double figures in scoring in 19 of 29 games. 12 games with 2+ 3's made in a game. Was an unexpected key player after missing the 2019-2020 season with an injury. Lots of growth still to come for this one if he sticks around.
Christian Braun was a first year starter nearly doubling his ppg to 9.7 in his 2nd year at KU. 52 made 3's on the season, improved FT shooting, rebounds per game, assists, steals. Braun hit double figures in 14 of 30 games including a season high 30 for any Jayhawk on the season against St Joes. 14 games of 2 or more made 3's.
Bryce Thompson was off and on injured this season with 3 double figure scoring games. KU was 16-3 in games Bryce played this year. Expect major improvement for him next season.
Dajuan Harris became a key rotation player in the later stage of the season including a season high in points (13) vs Eastern Washington in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Harris had 4 or more assists in 10 games this season despite coming off the bench in all but 1 game this season. Despite having a limited offensive role and being a pass first guard, Harris shot 48% from the field, 64% from 3 (Including 4/5 from 3 in the NCAA tourney), 80% FT and 7 games with 2 or more steals in a game. The future is bright for Dajuan.
Prison Mitch Lightfoot played a reserve role for KU once again averaging 10 minutes per game scoring in double figures twice, including a big game against Oklahoma when David McCormack was out of the Big-12 tourney due to covid. Lightfoot will return for his 400th season next year.
Looks like Indiana is looking at Thad Matta & Mike Woodson (NBA coach)
Covid. Not only for taking Jalen & Dave out but for the disruption it put on the teams ability to practice etc. This is exactly what happened to Baylor and so many other teams across the nation when they came back. Covid pause disrupts your defense, your legs, your shooting, your rhythm and just about everything else. The Eastern Washington game from an analytics standpoint showed the defense tanked. It was even worse 2 days later playing Length and Athleticism.
Mckissic was defensive POY in the conference as well. He's not a starter at program like KU but I would definitely be intrigued with him coming in to be a rotation piece. Doesn't help us get bigger, longer, athletic though.. Walker and Ty Washington/Pettiford do that..
The offense just didn't have it all season and this was the worst shooting team in the Self era. I think one thing was abundantly clear, Self needs two PG types on the floor in his starting lineup that can pick and prod a defense. Garrett needed a wing-mate all season long and we never got to that point where we had that. Harris had some nice late-season development. Thompson had mostly a lost season but we only lost 3 games when he played. Development is the key word for the guys who return. Athletically USC exposed us in a major way. They played up and the rest was history. Hopefully the core of McCormack, Agbaji, Braun, Wilson, Thompson, Harris return. Out of that core, only Agbaji is a plus athlete. Self needs 1-2 guys more that can just on raw talent do things. Dotson & Doke are the type of guys Self has to get back to getting. Guys that are better then most at what they do. He'll develop them from there
PG Jamir Harris choose Seton Hall. Patriot league star averaged 20 ppg
Busy day in the portal. Up to 800 names now. Lots to unpack
Josh Roberts- St Johns
Rodney Chatman- Dayton (good defender, Harris type)
John Newman- Clemson
Feron Flavors- Oklahoma St
Jordan McCabe- West Virginia
Mickey Pearson- TCU
Aaron Wheeler- Purdont'
Darius McNeill- SMU
Jalen Johnson- Wake Forest
McKissic might be one you can get to be the bench guard with experience. 50% fg, 42% from 3, 3 ast, 1.5 stls. Troubling that he is a below 70% ft shooter and turns the ball over at a high rate. If he is the 2nd transfer guard we get to a better one im good with it.
Remember watching him last yr at the sprint center in person and thought he was one of 2 roos that could compete

Watch out for this. Kim English was just hired at George Mason, the Tennessee Assistant and former Methzu nutjob.
Why does this matter? He was responsible for bringing Kennedy Chandler to Tenn. PLEASE MOTHER OF EVERYTHING open up your recruitment.......
Really great of Mason for advancing opportunities for women coaches
🤣🤣🤣

Savion Flagg- Texas A&M
Armaan Franklin- Indiana
Joe Bamisile- Virginia Tech
Brendan Adams- Uconn
Tye Fagan- Georgia
Heard he could end up 5 star. We should absolutely be on him. Shot blocking is a huge need
Thanks Marcus. Best defender in the self era
3rd worst loss by a top 3 seed since seeding began. Awesome stat to be in now
Thanks for the memories marcus
Nope
Lose by 34 lol
Good pass grant foster
Everyone that has played tonight can return. Unlikely that Garrett will but if this loss doesn't motivate them to get better.. such a young team but the upperclassmen are not killers. They are finesse role guys that need killers
