Gonna have to rely on transfers for next year and of course some internal improvement. It's a decent core here but like you mentioned we need to add two actual guards. Preferably you know, they are fast. That would change the whole dynamic. There is a good core here but just so many wings.

25 point loss against texas this year was Self's worst.

People have been wanting Self to focus on 25-150 players for years and this is what happens when you recruit in that neighborhood. You end up with flawed players and a flawed team.

This is why KU needs the top 15 players and this is what happens when you lack top end talent.

@DCHawker That is a matter of opinion. Wilson will be good, McCormack is a McDonalds All American, and Abaji is talented. This loss was bad, doesn’t mean the team is horrible. We did not matchup well with tall teams this year. Next year will be different. A bad year at KU? 2nd in Conference and a loss in the round of 32. That’s not so bad.

Lack of offseason really hurt him. Always tough to transition for JuCo to P5, even tougher this year. The extra season will help him immensely.

So you don't think Bryce ends up in the rotation next year? He's likely the starter at the 2 next year because he's has most of what Self covets at the 2. A combo that can handle the ball and get his own shot. Bryce Thompson is why getting a second guard to transfer in is going to be difficult for KU unless that person is fine coming off the bench.

I had to go paint the house and fix the transmission on the car and finish my taxes. So I missed the end of the game. Did we come back and win?

Right, talking skill set. It’s rare for guys to develop such that they change positions at this level. You kind of are what you are outside some improvement shooting and BBIQ things. I’d be happy to be proved wrong on this but I can’t think of a player that went from bad handles to being an effective, ball dominant guard at this level.

I said it in a different thread, but thank you, Marcus Garrett, for a great career at Kansas. I'll miss you.

I say at the end of every non winning season that they can't take 1988 or 2008 from me and the joy felt from those years. Those are actually pretty rare for the majority of sports fans to be true diehards of a team and get to see them win it all. It just doesn't happen much. Just look at the teams in our league. There's no fans of any of those teams that knows a national championship in basketball. Some of those schools have some nice football memories of course, but even there, it's been at least a decade for Texas and Oklahoma since a championship.

It eases the sting a bit. I also believe, as stated above that Covid really impacted this team. We had a great chance in 2020 to win it all. This year, nice run towards the end and like that, no Big 12 tournament, Jalen lost really through today. I can't believe we get trounced like we did today with Jalen and Big Dave having played without missing any games. Were we good enough to win it all? I'm doubtful. So a big loss sucks, we'll hear it from others 'ku sucks' 'ku chokes every year' or whatever but just remember what I wrote here. We've got it really good. Next season holds some promise. We're gonna chase down Kentucky for the all time win record, battle for another league championship and deep tourney run. Keep your heads up!
