His stubbornness to stick w/big dave has paid off. Just need it to work out against Texas!

Yep, it was hard to see the vision in this for a long time but without Dave this team isn't where it is. He's developing before our eyes. Sr year could be fun

Threat of sanctions may be a good thing • Mar 04, 2021 06:08 PM

@tis4tim

No doubt we have just 2 burger boys on the roster and there isn't a first round pick on this years squad. I think its a good year to have a "project" roster and I think in the end those guys that develop and become really good end up more beloved Hawks with fans then Andrew Wiggins' 8 month pit-stop etc.

The spotlight on this has the opportunity to become mainstream if he gets this team deep in the tournament. I'm here for it

81.6% win percentage at KU, crazy.

Inside the Top 50 all time in wins now at age 58. It's going to be interesting to see where he ends up when its all said done

@tis4tim

Good post by the way.

I don't think recruits have ever doubted Self's ability to develop talent. For all the McDonald's guys we've gotten that have left after a year we've gotten just as many that stuck around and made something here. Mason, Graham- shining stars of developing from the past few years. Azubuike, Dotson more evidence. I think Self has more of a rep for getting guys that develop then OAD's.

Its funny I actually thought the teams that had stacked rosters (the KY, Duke's of the world) would have an advantage this season due to talent reigning supreme but the programs that had lots of returning players have actually been the one's that are best (Zaga, Baylor). The lack of offseason development, chemistry building, S&C program really was a bigger issue then I thought it would be.

This KU team isn't perfect and that 3 week lull in January was looking scary but Self has pushed the right buttons and he's got this group playing their best ball at the right time.

Self is one of the best regular season coaches the game has ever seen

@Marco

I think Sam Dekker- Former Wisconsin Star is also a good comp. Will be interesting to how good he is as a Senior when the offense gets focused around him due to 4/5 of Sunrise's starting lineup going to D1 schools next year

A moment for all of us to feel really old

But an encounter with former Jayhawk Wayne Selden Jr., when Dick was real young, solidified his love of all things KU.

“He was working some basketball camp I was at when I was in elementary school,” Dick recalled. “And the next time I went to a KU game I saw him and he remembered me and commented on my Instagram post.”

He did not realize in the moment, but those types of encounters led to Wednesday night and made Dick want to follow in the former Jayhawks’ footsteps.

Duke on the bottom end of the first four out after losing. Before the game they were on the next four out line. Somehow they gained a spot or two for losing. Can't make this up

Maybe the best thing all night defensively was guarding butler like their life depended on it. It took 3 years but Garrett rattled him early and often and then after he went almost 30 minutes without scoring his night was toast. We took the head off the monster. Brilliant execution.

@Kcmatt7

They have fan support of a Top 5-6 ACC team from that era so your right, if you build it they will come. However building it has been a major issue. Capel had some momentum but its stalled in a major way and looks like its headed even further down. Their recruiting/transfer ability has been abysmal with Capel known as the bag guy when he was at Duke

Rankings • Mar 02, 2021 03:05 PM

@drgnslayr

It's comical that ESPN is running Duke as a bubble team (first four out) but I guess that's just the College Basketball world we live in.

58th in the NET, 11-9 overall with 5 of their 11 wins coming against Quad 3/4 teams. One win vs a ranked team (Virginia).

If KU ever struggles this badly this late in the season I guess we'd hope our reputation as a blue blood would give us a chance.

Most pitt fans look back at that era as a one off that will never return due to the administration and booster support lacking in the program. Maybe a different coach and approach could work but seems like they are bottom of the acc now for the foreseeable future

First round. Arm pain next day. Fiance had arm pain and headache.

2nd round. Nothing for me, not even arm pain. Fiance had 24-36 hours where she couldn't get out of bed, high fever, aches, general feeling of sickness. Went away. She then had a tension headache for a week. Wouldn't worry about all of hers being the norm

@DCHawker

Espn had KU as a 3 seed going into the Baylor game yesterday. Imagine beating #2 and getting their 7th win against a ranked opponent at the time of playing them will have staying power as far as a 3 seed, 4 at worse
