Why temper? If we want to be the best don't we have to beat some of the best out there to do it!
Sounds very similar then. It looks like where I live will miss the storm for the most part. I know everyone is sick of snow especially as we hit the end of March here.
With Langford I think he's taking a very deliberate and patient approach. I don't think he's staying in-state and has done the right thing overall. Indiana fans have taken his recruitment to extremes and it will be funny to see the meltdown if he goes to KU or Vandy
I'm not sure what the weather is like in Kansas but where I live it was 75 one day, 20 the next with 6 inches of snow and then we got 3 Nor'easter's in a week and on the first day of spring it was 7 out this morning
I wish him the best. He had an amazing stretch of basketball followed by a terrible month to end the season. I felt like his teammates resented him having the spotlight etc. They just didn't seem to want to play together.
The media, especially ESPN went overboard with him. It was good visibility for the league overall which sometimes struggles outside of KU to produce teams or players that the nation follows.
It will be very interesting to see how he fits at the NBA. He's got some work to do physically to keep healthy and learn how to play defense but if he lands on the right team he could be a difference maker in a few years
Probably about the same. As @dylans pointed out they can score from all 5 positions (Duval's outside shot is comparable to Marcus).
If we are fortunate to play them this weekend I think Self should consider a zone of his own at times when Lightfoot is in the game. He is outmatched. This would potentially limit foul trouble for Doke as well
Smart decision to leave OU for the draft. OU about to take a huge step back once again
Well said! Agreed. Tense moments at the end with them making tough shot after tough shot. I think that plays into it
ugh the horror of remembering that game.
Will be interesting to see where he ends up. And please be it anywhere but UK
Don't you wish kids see it that way

@Kcmatt7 is duke longer than cuse?
They start two 6'10 bigs. Duval, Allen & Trent are 6'3 and taller. 6'6, 6'10 & 6'11 come off the bench.
In order to hide Bagley's horrid defense and starting two bigs that teams could take advantage of K implemented the zone.
Their length makes it difficult for passing lanes in their press zone. It's very similar to what Villanova did to us two years ago with the only difference being Nova slipped back into M2M.

People were impressed with Clemson, but what I saw was some garbage defense by Auburn. Anybody have any thoughts?
I don't know what was worse the garbage offense or defense really. It was a total collapse on both sides of the ball. It's not like Clemson played some great defense. I think it was over a 10 minute stretch where Auburn didn't score a basket.
If anyone saw their first matchup with Charleston and how narrowly they escaped that round this type of game was on the horizon for them
I'm happy with how the season has unfolded. Lots of highs, some lows, but overall this group has done some great things.
I do expect more, I want more. We've made it this far, why not win the whole thing.
Losing to Clemson in Basketball? Doesn't that just sound unthinkable. We are Kansas, time to show it.
The last thing I want is ACC's school showing up the Big-12.
This team has it all. A senior leader who can take over games scoring, distributing, defense, you name it. A 3rd year guard who can score with the best of them. A Senior wing who can shoot the lights out. A big man with a competitive streak and game-changing size on both sides of the ball. This team will win or lose as a team I'm sure of that.
The Big-12 could get 4 teams into the Elite 8, 3 into the Final 4 seems how Tech/West Virginia could meet in the E8.
The ACC could get 3 teams into the Elite 8 and 2 into the Final 4 seems how Duke/Cuse play and Clemson could play winner of the Duke/Cuse game.
Perfect year for the Big-12 to flex their muscle.
West Virginia matches up with Villanova just fine. 2 physical styles of play clashing.
Tech vs Purdue, advantage Tech after the Haas injury.
Kansas St vs Kentucky. Two teams playing great defense in the tournament. Kentucky's edge in size and Dean Wade's injury could be the difference for them.
So he takes a JUCO year. Then he says he's changed and someone takes a chance on him.. Happens all the time
I don't see it that way but maybe some will.
I think a large part of KU's fanbase as well as national media will look at beating Duke and getting to the Final 4 as a major accomplishment. That kind of win would hush a lot of the "Self can't get past the Elite 8 talk".
KU doesn't have the perfect team, the perfect roster construction or a bunch of OAD's with 1st round talent . It sure seems like we are an underdog despite the seed
South Carolina may bite. Who knows though.
It's not a bad move by Vegas either as I think they will take action on both sides of the line because of it.
Regardless I think this game stacks up easier for KU. We haven't seen our best yet, Self has time to drill that into them. Doke continues to get healthier and has a clear advantage in the post. Our guards are better then their guards and playing 4-1 is going to pose a matchup problem for them. Liking this game more and more
I just hope we make it to Sunday. It will mean another 30 win season and a 3rd straight E8. I'm enjoying the ride!
If Duke is the opponent I like that KU will likely be viewed as the underdog. We can use that chip on our shoulder the same way Villanova and Oregon have used against us the past two seasons. I like that possibility.
Imagine how much Self, Devonte & Svi are going to want that game..

Keep an eye on Joshua Langford at MSU. Not happening for sure yet but could. Hearing this from family that are MSU grads and donors.
Really, I would love to add him if he became available

Newman made every FT down the stretch, he was clutch.
I loved how Malik wanted the ball in his hands in the last seconds. Not scared to shoot those FTs.
Important trait to have coming up IMO. If he repeats that level of play again on Friday I don't see how we lose

I know a lot of people are going to look at the way Clemson beat Auburn and think that game beats KU.
Betting on KU losing hasn’t been a good strategy so far, but will likely continue until we cut down the nets.
“Luck is the idol of the idle.”
That last second 3 by Powell I'm sure lost some people money that played KU covering the spread..
And the early 4 point spread from Vegas seems awfully over-reactionary to Clemson's win.

I'm happy to be in the Sweet 16, but the last 3 minutes of the Seton Hall game just about killed me. KU just can't seem to help itself at times when the opponent is on the ropes. Missed FTs, TOs, and allowing the opponent to shoot unguarded 3s was a very tortuous finish. When Mitch overthrew a pass to Devonte following the inbounds pass and hit nothing but bench, it appeared our guys were overwhelmed by the situation. I was pretty sure we had it, but wow did we let the Pirates stay in the game.
Newman made every FT down the stretch, he was clutch.
I was edge as well, we all were, but Seton Hall was making some pretty tough shots all game. Carrington made a few 25/26 footers with a hand squarely in his face in the last minute. The last thing you want to do is be over-aggressive and foul.. It didn't end pretty but if it wasn't for
Newman making every FT down the stretch the outcome could have been different.
Survive and advance! We accomplished that.

Nice scouting report.
Thanks!
I have a feeling Self will game-plan to limit Reed (like KU did to Rodriguez) and hopefully Devoe in some area's (limiting open looks).
Elijah Thomas is a 20 & 10 candidate as he'll dominate when Lightfoot is in but will be a non-factor when Doke's in the game.
Their guards are not big or super athletic, they are quick though so that can pose some issues for us.
I know a lot of people are going to look at the way Clemson beat Auburn and think that game beats KU. It doesn't unless KU has its worst game of the year. I can't imagine we're going to play poorly

@BeddieKU23 Them holding Auburn to 19 points in the first half was more concerning to me... :astonished:
They are good defensively and the numbers would say that. You can score on them and I think we matchup really well with them. They were 16-3 with Donte Grantham but just 9 and 6 without him so your talking a team that has had to adjust to life without it best player and struggled against the better teams when doing so.
They played great against Auburn who was in a similar position, missing a key contributor down the stretch.
The key to the game will be the perimeter. Devoe, Reed, Mitchell are 3 good guards but we match them with better guards. I think a key will be seeing if KU can get their perimeter trio in foul trouble as they have nothing but young players coming off the bench that don't play big minutes. This is an easier matchup for KU then Seton Hall was.
With nearly a week to prepare we have to feel confident that Self will have an excellent game plan for them. Doke gets 6 more days to rehab that leg where maybe he can play 25 minutes and make a big impact on the game again
Not to look ahead past Friday but isn't Duke who we want to beat? It means they are not in the Final 4. This is a golden opportunity in my opinion
“You know, you look at this team and everybody, including myself, has said what's wrong with this team all year long. We don't do this, we don't do that or we're too small or we don't have enough depth or we don't play hard enough or we're not hungry enough. And all they've done is they're the No. 3 overall seed, and they've won two games in the tournament and are going to the Sweet 16. We've got to win two more games to get where we want to go. But I'm so proud of our kids and nobody can say that they haven't had a great season. Now we have to go make great (turn into) special.”
-Bill Self
Has Self said anything better all season long?
I'm pumped for Friday. We're going to win
Better hope devoe comes back to earth

Great win, seton hall shot out of their mind the entire game
Stats don't show them shooting their minds out. 10-24 threes, 45% overall. They certainly had a lot of answers down the stretch. They were as tough as I thought they were going to be.
Delgado made everything, 50% shooter from the field. They certainly answered a lot of our runs
Alabama had 15 loses, Rhode island looked like a midmajor team

Is it too much to ask for a nice comfortable 15- 20 pt win, like the other big marquee teams today... ?
Good god these guys are going to give me an infarctionI don’t think seton hall missed a single shot in last 5 minutes
Those other teams played really bad teams
Great win, seton hall shot out of their mind the entire game
