I like Ryan's willingness to tell it straight but as an elevator of talent I think he focuses too much on thinking kids need to be day 1 studs to compete. You get to KU and never know the rate of development a kid will take. Smith is an example of a kid who has physical talent to play and shooting ability. Positions mean nothing in College Ball now. He can definitely be a wing, can handle the ball. Huntington Prep is chalk full of athletes and Smith has played really well

True it definitely wasn't a sunshine pumper post. I think he's selling the kid a little short here. He's definitely good enough to play if needed as a freshman. Athleticism and shooting get you a long ways

I thought Mitch & Dwight were great last night. I know they only had 2 points (which by the way was a great play by Mason/Mitch) but I thought they bring what Bragg isn't bringing most of the time. They just do their job. When have we praised Bragg for doing his job this year? Too far and too few between.

We had months to talk about how Good Josh Jackson was before he even played here.
Some were not sold, rightfully so, we've had a spotty OAD record in the past.
But is there any player that has ever come here that was more Taylor-Made for KU than this kid?
He's had some up + down Big-12 games but lately he's been spectacular.
Who else was playing with fire last night in the first half? His effort stood out entirely from the rest of the team.
Every game Josh does 2 or 3 things you just don't see from 99.99% of College Basketball.
If you were to judge Jackson's NBA potential off the last 2 games how is he not the clear #1 pick in the draft and a future All-Star. He's got moxy, the type of character that thrives at the next level and we still have two more months of this.
I've heaped a bunch of praise his way but he deserves it. That 3 point shot has become serviceable and it really makes him un-guardable at this level. Jackson is KU's X-Factor in this 4 guard set. He bothered Motley on defense and was a total mismatch for anyone trying to stop him last night. I don't think we are done seeing these types of performances.
He's a definite want as we head towards spring.
Really good athlete and can shoot from the perimeter.
I also like his ability to possibly be a small 4 in the 4 guard lineup. Not saying next year we would be playing this way again but he's the type of player that in time would allow Self to explore
He's young so his best basketball is ahead of him. I think he's a top 50 type personally.

I think what was important about the Kentucky win besides erasing the loss in Morgantown was taking the momentum from the win. Self was right, the Kentucky game would have been meaningless if the team didn't take something from it and use it positively. I think we got a resounding answer to that question. Baylor brought everything they had, was a great overall game!
