he just doesn't have the legs to do it. nothing we can do, nothing hudy can do
very nice
i think BG would have a hard time guarding my grandma..
Svi the Jeremy Case of practice according to the announcers.. jeezz
thought so.. glad ellis made it otherwise that's a head scratcher
yes who was it that passed it, he was open then passed it out and I was like oh wow what a bad yes it went in play
what a move by Bragg.. we are going to love him
Self tells the team they are fired, they come out fired up.
agreed, we really don't have a smart enough defender to put on him. Bragg has the ideal length but as a freshman Niang would bait him into whatever he wants. Ellis has improved on D a lot but he's never had success guarding him either.. At least we know this is his final year
problem is he only plays one side of the floor. he usually stays away from foul trouble & he's had whoever guards him on KU's number every year
interesting..
its going to be huge especially early.. so many different rules on defense to adjust too. I'm glad we have the depth we have because a team like Iowa St that has 6 main players is going to be in big trouble when the refs are feeling happy
well the 2 3's we did make started to open things up for us. It's just as important as pounding it inside
I didn't expect us to look like world beaters tonight. Self will beat them up at Half & I expect some better ball this next half. But first impression is this team is a lot further off than a team that played 8 games this summer should be
Very rough half for Graham & Svi.. They have to make shots
that's what hunter offers. plus some midrange shooting but his Defense before that 1 minute was suspect
Bragg is doing exactly what he needs to do to solidify minutes. Rebound, hustle & score..
certainly and he's scary good, but we really have no idea whats going to happen
its an exhibition but its clear Bragg will not be the last big off the bench very soon
boy hunter's D has got to be better than that
he always does against 6'5's
33-25 perry to shoot FT after timeout
hops seem back after the ankle injury
with our team when we make 3's it just does so much more than focusing on pounding the ball inside
jesus we can't cover the wings
@Eric 23-20 us
good to know Selden's FT shooting has improved... not
you know its bad when self has his hand on the side of his head
horrible honestly, too many missed shots
and for a team with championship aspirations this is going to be gold for Self to get these kids to practice the way he wants them too.
theres nobody that's playing like its a real game. they really are treating this like a scrimmage
this is certainly ugly.. certainly not worried but worried about lack of execution
hey the refs have already proven they know nothing!!
it was sound for me for about 5 minutes
i feel like mason gets fouled every time he touches the ball but never gets the respect
no we definitely suck early, taking the competition for granted but playing how Self said we have practiced
Bragg is the last big in the game but immediately has an assist, then beats his man down the court for a jam.
This in a nutshell is why we have trouble recruiting the elites
very ugly early
I think Perry's points are easily replaced by Bragg if he turns out to be the talent we are all expecting. Experience and all that would be lacking but we know Bragg has a bright future. But when you look at what's going to be back between Coleby & Lucas, we need post scoring. Bolden is easily the best scoring option immediately. Aduka provides the power, although raw post moves. Allen is a skilled big but will need some strength. I think Self could easily mold any of the 3 for significant minutes as a freshman.
The Big Board is officially down to 3 who KU has a legitimate chance of getting.
Bolden
Allen
Azubuike
It goes without saying that it's absolutely important that 1 of these 3 ends up in a KU uniform.
KU has shown recent interest in Curtis Jones #35 6'4 guard from Texas. Surprised we are so late to the party. Arizona, Texas, Louisville have been after him. If he waits til spring we may get in deeper if we have some guards leave.
yep its official. No surprise for the guy who needed a guarantee in playing time
Don't you mean getting ready for tonight's Exhibition Game??
Tonight we can focus on the players & see how improved some may be or how much work we have to do to get where we all want this team to go!
Tonight/Tomm and until next tuesday we can kick & scream at how well they did or how poorly we did. It will be nice to have a game to talk about
very nice post!
ESPN has him #2 for SG prospects.
If Svi's shooting has improved that's a great sign. It looks like he will be the first guard off the bench so we will need his offense. Hopefully he gets enough minutes (above 15 a game) so that he gets into an offensive rhythm. If the 2nd unit includes Svi, Greene, Bragg, we will come at opponents in waves that they cannot plan against.
I could see them resting him more during these 2 exhibition games, really no need to play him much. Let Vick & Green & Svi get a feel for playing, they need all the reps they can get.
I wouldn't play any of the starters past halftime, there's just no need
I would point to guys like Kevin Young, Brady Morningstar among others as I read your post. They were integral parts of the lineup for reasons that didn't always involve a stat that was written down. So I agree in that regard.
How do we take Self's comments about Mari playing the best basketball of his career in the past few weeks?
I have to ask why wouldn't he be optimistic even if he knew otherwise. He's dealing with the media, there's nothing to gain by putting the situation in a negative light, it just adds fuel to the fire for questions he's not ready to answer ( or doesn't have the answer).
He does make it look like we will get good news. It would be even better if it happened before Wednesday.
I get it Bragg is the shiny new car that hasn't been driven yet. No flaws, no scratches.. He's an immense talent & with Self's comments about him not being here all 4 years would seem to cement that he's going to be very good...In Time.
If he's an intricate part of the rotation by January then his impact will probably one of the biggest story-lines. It' just hard to see him getting the minutes to really impact the team, the way we might project.
I would assume Traylor didn't have a good +- ratio. Between his turnovers, low rebounding rates, & low scoring totals, its hard to believe they were better than the previous year. I would have been interested in Svi's, Oubre's, & Cliff's stats from last year.
A tool like this could be very helpful to Self. Certainly not saying its the best model but it can be helpful in figuring out who's doing better at a given time. Sometimes film isn't going to show you that, especially over the course of 1 game or over the course of the season.
