We've had MANY 1 seeds and "supposedly" easy paths that didn't work out.
Seemed similar to it. Hard guard the 3 point line and didn't help on Doke. I have yet to watch the game again though to really try to examine it.
We had one player all year that could create for himself and more importantly create for others, Devonte. It's the reason the guy had to play 40 MPG. For all the talk of Malik in the postseason he is really just a streaky spot up guy with ZERO ability to drive, draw, and dish. Svi will drive but only left and is an easy scout. It is just like the Washington game. Play up on us and make us drive it. All the talk of modern basketball and Nova being able to shoot 3s from every position, people forget the triple threat. Their guys also have the threat to drive. Big difference.
I've never seen anyone go from being this bad a shooter to a good shooter. Maybe decent is in his future.

A few years from now this season by Bill Self will be even more appreciated. A lot of people here over value "our guys" as far as talent goes. This group is really just a talented college team and void of real NBA talent. The kind of talent it usually takes to win it all.

We couldnt defend the 3 at all spots and our guards couldnt create anything on offense.
Needed to go small and make them drive. We stuck with Doke(too slow for that) and Silvio(too raw to cover in space).
I almost wish we would have tried Garrett a the 5.
Silvio next year will not have the luxury of "he just got here". He is really raw on the offensive end. He only scored on lobs and put backs. He did awesome this year on short notice but will need more next year.
I bet Duke goes small ball next year and starts all 4 freshmen. Zion will play a small 4. Just have Bolden rebound everything and push. I bet they are better.

It's taken 32 years for college coaches to FULLY grasp what the 3 pointer and having all 5 guys be able to shoot it does.

If I played us Id NEVER double Doke. He isnt that great with moves. A ton of his points are off of other guys penetration and kicks or lobs. Then go at him and get him in foul trouble. Then if you are a Nova type team you stretch him and make him run and gas him.

It’s a double edged sword. Does self play more Mitch and desousa and play novas style? Or do you stick with doke.
It is easy to say self sucked but nova was unconscious.
