@ralster No, I saw that you listed the pre- Howard incidents. But my comprehension of what you were saying in the post that I replied to was that you're saying Self's treatment, or lack of punishment to Howard leads directly to the misbehavior of the players.
A few things to consider: These guys are growing into men in a national spotlight. They are going to make mistakes. I realize you never tried pot or broke any laws, but I bet over 50% of the posters here have broken laws, smoked pot, drank underage....something. We just did not grow up under a spotlight.
Another--when you listen to Self talk about this team, he constantly refers to his team as a family. That is the way he sees it. These are more than just basketball players to him. Self's number one goal is to make sure the players he recruits are in a better spot to be a father, husband, provider when they leave him. He's not going to just give up on them after a few incidents. Just like you wouldn't give up on your family after a few incidents.
Self allows his players & assistants to make mistakes and he gives them second chances. I agree with you the buck stops with Self and he has earned the right to say when the buck does stop. But I just will simply agree to disagree with you that these kids look at Coach Howard and say "well, he got a way with it, so will I"
@AsadZ ah, c'mon AsadZ, you can't blame them. I'm sure they were just trying to beat the traffic of 24,000 leaving the arena. Especially since 1/2 of them likely don't have a legal driving license and are juiced on moonshine, it probably gets a little sketchy around there.

@Kubie Grades reported from last semester would have likely happened weeks ago. I can't speak specifically to KU right now...but in other institutions grade were posted a few weeks after the end of the last semester which was Mid December.
And you are right; it is not fair to Carlton to speculate.
Self seems more upset about this incident, to me, than he let on when charges were pressed against Carlton the first time around. There seem to be "unknowns."

My speculation which is 100% speculation is that there is possibly a connection in the drug paraphernalia found during the rape investigation and this suspension.
I watched Self's presser yesterday as well as Hawk Talk Radio. He seems to be very distraught/concerned about this investigation.

@mayjay Don't forget to factor in that Dok is new to the game of basketball, and is only 17 years old. It's not like he has a lifetime of development under his belt and needs to just watch sets to memorize them and run them effectively.
As you, and any other athlete knows, one of the most important pieces of performance is developing muscle memory through repetition. No matter how much you visualize something, it can only take you so far.
