One stop.
Remember when Michigan did this to us
Those missed bunnies and ft are more and more painful
Fatigue makes cowards of us all.
Jesus h Cristo Graham
That was a quick 5
Scored 18 this half ?
Only thing worse than watching a performance like this is listening to Vitale while it's happening.
Get a stop. Miss a lay up. Miss a free throw. Repeat.
Kansas continues to be made look a fool by Huggins and lesser talent. Super frustrating.
@globaljaybird thanks. Didn't get to watch. Seemingly the bug is making its way through the team starting w lando vs Texas
Stat line said frank had a bad day ?
Unreal, unreal, unreal. The Towson Gaurd that fell into our lap ends up being of the best all time in this wonderful history we have.
Slayer that's how fake news gets started
@kjayhawks why didn't you put him in a pull up ?
@kjayhawks ...but it seems the body armor is a relatively new thing, right? Within the last 5-10 years it has grown in popularity.
Not bad for an older feller...
@BShark What drives me most about it is I think he does it with the intent to distract the opposing players. He gets down and slides around in athletic position. Makes it look like another man is out there sometimes.
VIck also wears the body guard similar to Graham. When I saw that up close, I thought, man-this is supposed to a non-contact support. The TV doesn't give justice to how much elbowing and checking goes on.
..
Old man league tonight, only got to watch the last 15 minutes, but it looks like they showed a lot of toughness in this one. When I turned it on it was 1 foul to 7
@cragarhawk He continues to give up WIDE OPEN Threes. It's as ridiculous as JJ's Free throws.
I remember a time when board rats used to say that college basketball players didn't get tired. It was impossible; they were too young for it.
@HawkChamp Historically, Bill Self has had the Jayhawks in the top 10 defensively. He has a few bad years, such as this one, but I think most would agree he is one of the best defensive coaches in all of college basketball.
But, if you want to look at top defenses around the league: look at Virginia and Baylor who are in the top 10 in scoring defense and they are whistled for about 16-17 fouls per game. Kansas is whistled for 18.5 game, for perspective.
@Crimsonorblue22 my fifth grader is learning this on his traveling team. Pretty basic stuff.
Given the speed, quickness, and pure athleticism these players possess, there is no remote possibility of playing defense, especially, Man to Man defense, and not fouling. Giving up just a little bit of space can prove costly at the Division I level. As far as wings not helping; watch tonight's game and I'll bet you see wings/guards rotating to help on the majority of possessions that go inside. Evan Landen will draw a helper from the weak side, and he is a below average scorer.
@HawkChamp ya, might have something to do with trying to limit fouls on the bigs...if there are two helpers down there in the lane each time.
@justanotherfan a lot of it appears to be his focus/attention and inability to watch the ball and his man simultaneously. I think his footwork is average for a college 6'8" player.
@justanotherfan Svi seems to come up on the short end of leaving his guy wide open for 3 more often than he should also.
@HawkChamp I would think so as well, but in 14 years being here, his MO would be to call them soft or something or "just not that tough.' If he is saying they are tired, there has to be something to it. Just not in the Okie Baller to make excuses--unless he's getting 'soft'.
On another note, Have we ever heard Self offer unsolicited remarks about how tired his team is as frequently as we have this year? Seems like every presser he's talking about how thin this team is and how tired they are. Didn't the '12 team basically play 5 +KY & Connor?
I found an alum singing the EMAW Song....have a listen
Well that would be too bad if a 6-8 L&A Wing with Lottery Pick Athleticism let a 6-5 barrel chest have a career day from 3 pt land on him. Maybe all of Burton's treys happened after a switch, I suppose--or playing zone.
Didn't get to watch either except last 5 minutes and overtime. Anytime a team can get off 34 3's and make 18 of them spells trouble.
still could have closed the deal with a couple free throws down the stretch but we knew that was bound to happen and will likely be the cause of the NCAA tournament exit as well.
I'm just curious who was guarding burton? He made 7-9 3pt
There are anomalies when it comes to stature...
@drgnslayr for whatever reason...offense around him--or playing to save the merchandise, Wiggs didn't seem to engage as aggressively as Josh does.
If referees were to get a bonus from tv viewership/ratings, it would help explain an unintentional bias toward teams from bigger markets. I wonder if NCAA refs get a flat fee, or not.
Nice post, but I'm predicting Baylor beats 'em handily down in Wacko. Not gonna be +21 from the line down there.
But they can afford a loss there. I think 15-3 is the record needed for big 12 championship outright, this year.
@truehawk93 Rivals had him at 34 overall and 9 position coming in and a 4*. I didn't recall we recruited him as one and done, but maybe we did.
But you can only pick 1! Picking 3 isn't part of this dream @Crimsonorblue22 !!!
So, while we have some time to day dream, or whatever...
If you could choose one of our OAD's to take to the tourney, who would it be?
The balance of the team playing around him is not important...simply which of our one and done players would you trust to help carry a team through the tourney?
A Healthy Embiid would be my top choice.
Josh Jackson is a close second. He's unlike some of the OAD's we've seen. Maybe not the most elite/talented, but has there been a more ALPHA?
We've had Chieck, Cliff, Selby, Oubre, BMac (technically not OAD, Wiggins, Embiid, who else?
@Bwag patience, grasshopper!
Wow I'm just now watching game been playing old mans league at the rec.
Checked box score and see we shot 21 more ft and we're whistled 11 less times. That seems like we totally got the AFH WHISTLE.
Also
2w 1L in this last 3 games stretch is acceptable.
@kjayhawks I tried Upvoting your post and ...well Idk what happened. Sorry
@HawkChamp Not just bad apples. It's a result of jealous thinking. Think about how many people hate the Patriots because they are winners (I do not like the Patriots) but every chance people get to associate them with a scandal. When some folks discuss Wooden and UCLA, the conversation typically drifts to the paid players. Talk about Calipari and how he brings in the best recruiting class every year, and surely there is a scandal there that we are missing, right? Some folks just get pleasure in others' demise.
Also--how many people rooted for Clemson this year simply because they have grown tired (read jealous) of Alabama's dominance?
@HighEliteMajor Definitely good news, and I agree with your intuition. On the ESPN article they stated that Bragg was not one of the 5 witnesses named in the rape case. I may not have read everything that came out on that, but I don't remember having been given that solid of a statement on that before. He was named a witness in the runaway situation
@Crimsonorblue22 I have to believe part of Self's testiness this past week and as-close-to-being-deceitful as I can recall is he's as sharp as they come and knew the media would do everything--and still will do everything to tie them to this rape case as long as they can. Even when it is resolved, they probably still reference Jayhawk Basketball players as being "witnesses."
Fox watched the KU tape and came out in a 2-3. Took Kentucky 25 minutes to get it going.
From here we obviously hope Kentucky finishes strong and wins their conference so I'll be pulling for them.
