HCBS stealing as many minutes as he can to not have to put LL back in yet...
DO NOT LET UP!!! Same as last 10 minutes against MSU. Another 20 point game. Please...
The downhill drives off the weave are there all night long...
We've each made 19 FGs and are 9-18 from 3. Difference is foul shots. They are shooting better than 54%. If we can get a few stops we can open this up....
That foul really hurts. Could have extended the lead and 3 on LL...

Barkley is a genius.
Idiot savant????
He's laying down some serious truths. Purdue can't run.
Agree - ours perimeter guys can beat their's off the dribble all night long. Would love to see constant penetration and drawing lots of early fouls in the second half. Especially, JJ - he missed some finishes, but they don't have anyone who can come close to matching up with him...
They shot 56% to our 44%, but we have the lead. Just need to make a couple of adjustments on defense to deal with Haas...
Nice finish to the half!!!!

@Texas-Hawk-10 And great job Landen corralling that, immediately recognizing the double team and finding the open man.
Truly impressive.
I'm not sure Landen can't play in the League.
I love LL, but really??? Only a handful of 5s play back to the basket and I'm not sure which of those he could defend, let alone all the others that can play on the perimeter. Hope I am wrong though...

@DCHawker no timeouts, they fell apart.
Understand, but with 30+ seconds, drive the ball and get the quick 2...
Drive the goddamn ball....

Purdue shooting out da lights. A stop ✋ would help
At least a hand in their face...
We've missed 3 or 4 at the rim...
WVU and Zags tied with 2 to go...
We're settling for quick jumpers...

Unfavorable whistle thus far.
We really haven't done anything to get fouls against them. Not driving it to the basket...
They're getting wide open shots right now..
@DoubleDD said:
I love it. Purdue hot. Means cool second half.
I would love it more if they didn't get hot in the first place and stayed cold....
We just need to make shots this game...
@globaljaybird But then Zags seem to be the more balanced, complete team. Definitely not scary good, but very solid...

Michigan saved a timeout for next year
Probably lower tax rate next year, so that asset will be more valuable in 2018....
@DCHawker said:
@globaljaybird Agree - even though its a tight game, Michigan seems like the more dangerous team. Neither defend or rebound that well, but both have some players that can go off.
Well, that's moot at this point...

Porter got his release.
Don't worry Washington wasn't worried about letting him go. He wasn't that good anyway
So, will be a good fit at Mizzou, where Cuonzo just hired his daddy...

@jayballer54 I didn't know he was on the hot seat. I know they've been a relative non-factor for quite a few years. That's still viewed as a desirable job I assume. It will cause a little more than a ripple.
Not just hot seat - scorching. Students and alums have been agitating. The issue has been, of course, that he's John Thompson's son and the University president has always been close to the father. But 2 straight losing seasons at home eroded that legacy support - the nadir was a loss at home to last place (in the BE conference) DePaul - esp. when one of the DePaul players was quoted as saying they could tell the GU players weren't really into the game. Losing is one thing - losing the players is another.
Rumors are Amaker or Dawkins - I guess in part because they are originally DC guys - but as a Georgetown grad school alum - I don't find either of those to be of the slightest interest....

The Big 12 has had a pretty good postseason so far.
TCU may win the NIT
KSU won their play in game. Oklahoma State lost, but in a very competitive game.
Iowa State won their first round game.
KU, Baylor and West Virginia are all still dancing (and all three have a pretty good chance in their S16 games).
The Big 12 is guaranteed a winning conference record in the NCAA tournament (sitting at 7-3 right now - I don't include play-in games, so I didn't count KSU's win over Wake Forest).
That's a strong showing, and suggests that Tech probably should have gotten a chance to play in the postseason.
I wouldn't characterize as a strong showing YET. Well, it is relative to the conference record in prior years, but to this point, we've played exactly to seed expectations, nothing more, nothing less. KU is expected, by seed, to reach the FF. Any win by Baylor or WVU from here on out is seed expectation gravy.
Having said that, it is a better showing than I anticipated, as I was not confident that any of our teams getting through the first weekend other than KU. I'll happily eat crow on that. And, I'll just as happily eat more in light of the ACC's dismal performance, as I had fully expected their top 4 to outperform ours (and UNC survived due to one of the worst non-calls in the history of the tournament).
The B12, B10, SEC and P12 all have 3 teams in the Sweet 16. Conference bragging rights this year are still very much to be decided.....
I would be surprised if Purdue plays Swanigan and Haas at the same time much; indeed, I'm not sure if Haas will see that much floor time. If you look at the recent Purdue games against teams that aren't big but which can spread the floor - that is, narrow wins against Iowa State and Northwestern and 2 losses to Michigan, Hass hasn't played more than 15 minutes - some of that is subbing for Swanigan rather than 2 bigs at once.
So, I think that means LL on Swanigan most of the time; the challenge there for us is pulling LL away from the basket as Swanigan can score from the perimeter and drive.
While I think @HighEliteMajor has well identified some of the tactics that can help slow down Swanigan, my own view is that we should make him work hard, but not really be that concerned if he goes for 30 and 15. The key to beating Purdue is to take away or limit their 3s. They are one of the top 3 pt shooting teams in the country percentage wise - just over 40%. That's better than 60% effective FG %. If we make Swanigan work, I don't think he matches that. And, even if he gets 30, if we can limit their 3s, which admittedly has been an achilles heel until now, I don't think they can score enough to match us assuming we are anywhere near our averages.
Their 3 guards are really solid, but they aren't as good or as quick as ours are - they can't create shots as well as BIFM, JJ or DG.
The bottom line is that while Swanigan MIGHT be the best player in the game - JJ and Frank may take exception - we are better at every other position. We just need to play the best Kansas basketball and if we do that, we should come out with a W. If we play the entire game like we did much of the first half against MSU, all bets are off...
What a great 8 minute stretch - executing the offense and getting defensive stops. Coleby was the MAN!

Now I'm nervous about Purdue....
I'm nervous about every game until they are up 15+ with less than 2 minutes to go...
@Bwag said:
Back to 10...
Lets sustain
We haven't been able to sustain a double digit lead yet - let's hope 3rd time is a charm???
@kjayhawks said:
I'm putting in Coleby before Bragg if I'm self, he plays harder and is so much tougher.
Coleby - 3pts and 3 RBs already; Bragg zero points, 1 RB and 3 fouls....
@Bwag said:
That's Up 10 folks
Last time we were up double digits we gave up a quick 6 points. Let's see if we can play smarter this stretch....
They're shooting better and much better % from 3 + they've almost evened up the boards...Kinda surprised we're still leading...
We are playing like the team with 3 freshmen....
Much rather have Coleby with the minutes - at least he plays like a man...

MSU hacking and fouling now
That's fine - let's keep giving them that opportunity by taking it to the rim...
Wow - really bad end to the half - had a chance to create some real separation...
Just poor defense all around on that one - had to know they were going to run a screen for Bridges....
DUM DUM DUM DUM
Bad play by JJ - not only the foul, his 2nd, but Bridges was going to drive for a dunk...
Damn, Bridges is good....
@Crimsonorblue22 You are right on - they could have easily called a couple of ticky tacky ones in the first 2-3 minutes...
Want another game where all 5 starters on in double figures - heading that way...
@Crimsonorblue22 No one important...
Okay - let's not immediately give up a 3. Get another stop and extend the lead!
Spread the floor. Let BIFM drive - Nawls can't check him. Might pick up some fouls on Ward...
