@BShark

So the player announces his intentions to leave is current school, and then he becomes fair game? Ok I get it. I wander why the Espn's of the world wouldn't do a better job of reporting who is declaring themselves? They are a sports network after all.

I feel much better about the transfer thing. Thanks for the info.

I was going to start a thread on Transfers, but I think yours will do. I really don't have a statement, but more of a question. How does this work with transfers? I mean I believe a coach from another team isn't allowed to talk to or whoo opposing schools players? Right? Not saying Coach did this. Just wander how this transfer thing works? Are these players calling up Coach saying hey I would like to transfer? Or is there some middle man/agent working the strings?

Again I'm not saying Coach has or is doing anything wrong. Just wander how this Transfer thing works. Does anybody know? I would love to hear it. It just seems KU has been getting some nice quality Transfers over the years. Just wandering how that connection is made?

@approxinfinity --- I see that in union shops a lot. It's never really about what's best for the country but what's best for the union and it's workers.

I don't know maybe just call me a hater? I just don't like the idea of free healthcare and College. I'm not against social programs helping Americans when they are down on their luck. I just hate the idea of American citizens becoming totally dependent on the government.

When more people become dependent on the government. The power transfers from the people to the government. The checks and balances begin to fade. Not a good thing.

Do we really want the government getting more control over our schools, and colleges?

Freedom cost whether with our time, our blood, or our resources (money). Freedom is earned not given.

This model of lets punish the rich and upper middle class doesn't work. It's just a mechanism to lure and inspire those that don't have much in this world. It's saying, "you can't get it yourself, but I can get for you. Just depend on me". It's a sham. Maybe this stuff worked back in the early 1900's, when the world was bigger place. However this march to globalism has changed everything. The world isn't so big anymore. Those with money will just leave, they already have in some ways.

I guess I am that guy that doesn't know what he really wants, but does know what he doesn't want. I'm all for coming up with programs and plans to up lift our fellow Americans and improve our way of life. I just prefer to do it without the Federal Government involved.

The Venezuelan Socialist Diet • Apr 24, 2017 02:42 AM

@approxinfinity --- What do you mean by losing a public disconnected from society?

Dems seem to do quite well in Cali and New York, that is quite diverse in cultural and public view. Yet the world is bigger than just the east and west coast. The fly over country or middle America still has a voice.

If you ask me Hillary got cocky and thought she could keep the hold the Blue states and went after the big prizes of Florida and Texas. Not paying attention to middle America. I believe the belief was that with all the Immigration disputes over the Latino/Mexicans. She could turn those states Blue. Declaring an ultimate victory.

Sadly she didn't protect her parties bread and butter. She just assumed they would vote Dem because they always do. Not realizing that not everybody even those in her party thought Obama walked on water. Not to mention a lot of Dem voters were willing to usher America into Socialism with their love affair with Bernie Sanders.

Then again some Republicans have that all or nothing mindset. You would think that a senate and house ran by Republicans would defuse Bernie, yet I'm not so sure?

I mean can you imagine the cost to the tax payers for free College? Don't get me wrong I think College is way to expensive. Yet free? Holy Cow.

I shouldn't say this but KU? As long as you have proof of an in state address. You get the in state price of attending. Ssssh

Just another reason I like no love KU.

The Venezuelan Socialist Diet • Apr 23, 2017 10:12 PM

@approxinfinity --- See that is crazy. I look at the Republican party as fractured at best. Here they have two branches of the government and they can't get out of each others way to get anything done. They have all the cards and they still can't unite. Just kind of weird to me.

The Dems kind of scare me. These cats stick together no matter what. Right or wrong it doesn't matter they stick together. I also really hate all these entitlements programs they want to bring to the table without any real way of paying for them. Just look at Obamacare. Though maybe their heart was in the right place. Yet they undercut their own program. The premise was that the young Americans would pick up the tab, yet then they allow the same young Americans to stay on their parents health care plan until 26? Kind of mind boggling. I also get the feeling they lean towards a one world government/globalist mindset.

As for Hillary I just couldn't vote for her. I have no problem with a woman being president. There was just nothing I liked about her. This election was in the bag for her, and she blew it big time. This isn't on Trump or the Dem party. This is on her. She just took it for granted that she was going to win. I'm not sure I would want that kind of thinking person as president of the United States.

This may sound weird? Yet if Trump does well. It could signal a change in how Americans vote in future elections. I mean I would wish any president to do well. Yet if Trump does well then maybe some of these lesser candidates can get some more pub even though they lack in dollars? Just a thought.

I think one of the real problems with this two party system we have today is the old cats stay in power for way to long. Something I think that is really hurting the Dem party as a whole. I would love to see and be in favor of terms limits for senators and house representatives. I think new blood would go a long way in changing some stale and corrupt ways of our current two party system.

The Venezuelan Socialist Diet • Apr 23, 2017 02:06 AM

@approxinfinity --- I agree too a point. I really do. Yet I'm going off you're dream. Which I like a lot. However in a two party system? That we have today and yesterday? I think it is a mandate. I think the voting Americans are sending a message. Whether they are right or wrong. They are sending a message, and isn't that what a democracy/Republic is. To send persons to represent the voice of the citizens. We can argue whether the message is correct or not. However if we are to leave the proper decisions in the hands of a few because the voters just don't know. Then are we any different than socialism and Communism? I don't have a lot of answers just questions. Also I don't it's fair to bring in Germany and Hitler. At first the people were starving and looking for change. As time went on there was no way they could come against such a cruel leader. It was to late. They would've have been killed for their defiance.

That's why I stated in my original post on this subject a government without checks and balances is doomed to fail. I know a lot of Americans just can't stand Trump yet remember he can never become a dictator. Not saying he would just saying he can't. Just look at his Muslim ban? Held up in the courts. At the end of the day America is a nation of laws. Yes the laws are challenged. Yet I have to believe justice is served no matter who is in power.

I still like your idea best though. I'm getting real tired of the two party system. It's become quite corrupt. No matter what aisle you're on.

Please if I cross the line please let me know.

The Venezuelan Socialist Diet • Apr 23, 2017 12:30 AM

@approxinfinity --- I like the electing on merits a lot. Not on race, gender, or lot in life. I'm on board with ya. To many of us care about the same things. Yet we get trapped in our current two party system.

Oh man you dragged me in. Yet if you're a party that has lost over thousands seats on the state and national level? Don't you think the people have spoken? Don't forget a lot of the founding fathers that had slaves felt it was best to end it.

Please I beg you lets not continue. I wasn't kidding when I said I made an arse out of myself on these subjects. I don't want to burn bridges or step on toes. I'm just a KU fan trying to make sense of life. I love that Jayhawk.

So National Championships Matter? • Apr 22, 2017 11:32 PM

@HighEliteMajor Or Could it be? It's just easier to win at UNC than KU? I know us KU fans pound our chest and claim Blue Blood, and the founder of the game. As if somehow KU invented the game?

I'm getting in hot water. Damn.

Let me ask you this to twist your mind? What if UNC took Coach Self instead of hounding Roy? Would the numbers still pan out as they are today? Would Roy still be chasing that elusive National Championship? Would Coach Self be making claims as the best coach in a century? Look at Cal at UK? Sure dude can recruit, but he wasn't getting the recruits like he is now at Kentucky. Even Coach K got his fair share of talent, yet he just flips a switch and now he's bringing stacks of OAD talent.

Somebody mentioned the East Coast advantage. Maybe it is true? Maybe us KU fans should temper our expectations a bit. Now we're still a blue blood and one of the top programs in the country. Yet maybe it's just time to realize KU isn't Duke, UK, and UNC. Winning the National Championship at KU is just a bit harder.

Maybe just maybe it will be that much sweeter when Coach goes on that National Championship run we all feel is coming?

Sorry not trying to offend anybody. Just talking and conversing. Trust me next season I'll be talking about how KU is going to win it all.

The Venezuelan Socialist Diet • Apr 22, 2017 11:13 PM

@approxinfinity, I really don't want to debate politics. I've made an arse out of myself too many times. Yet it was the Dems that enacted the nuclear option first. I assume this is what we are referring to? Which by the way was never the intentions of the founding fathers anyways. So in a way it just went back to the way it was supposed to be before the Dems invented filibustering. Every person has a right to speak their mind. What unnerves me is what is happening on college campuses. The mind set of not even listening to an opposing view is always bad for business. Especially a country that is supposed to be about freedom. And even worse the opposing views are being met with violence. Maybe this younger generation is just pissed about being left with such a burden of Government debt. God knows we didn't help them any. Either way it saddens me. Each generation of Americans are supposed to leave this country better than when they found it. I think we can all agree that hasn't happened. So Sad politics are dividing this country. The old saying, "People shouldn't be afraid over their government. Their government should be afraid of their people." If only the people of this country could unite? Their is so many things we all agree upon. Yet listen to the news and it's apples to oranges. I would go on but I really don't want to step on anybody's toes. Politics, Government, and religion are really no, no's.

So National Championships Matter? • Apr 20, 2017 10:33 PM

First let me say I'm not trying to bash or open up any old wounds. Merely trying to have a civil conversation on the topic of National Championships and get a feel for where everybody is.

So now I'm going to play with fire. Hopefully I don't get burned. I'm going to ask a some questions. Answers I don't have mind you.

I'm scared.

Is Roy a better Coach than Self, or is it just tougher to win a National Championship at KU than other Blue Bloods? Now let me zero on what I'm saying and pointing at. Indiana has disappeared off the map since Knight left, and UCLA made most of their claims in a one time period with the one they call the Wizard. Yet Duke, UNC, and Kentucky seem to ring the bell on a regular basis.

Look at Roy with KU he was a great coach and we all loved him. Yet the mindset was starting to set in, he couldn't win the coveted National Championship. Roy took the job at KU in 1988 with his first season being 1989. He coached till 2003. That would be 15 seasons right? (Check my math) He took the UNC job in 2003 and still holds that job to date. So that would be roughly 14 years? (again check my math). Roy with KU no championships, yet so close. Roy with UNC has 3 count them 3 championships.

This is going to burn. So does any KU fan think that Kentucky, and Duke and UNC won't win another championship in the next 10 years? Are there any KU fans willing to guarantee KU will win a National Championship in the next 10 years?

Now I'm going to surprise you with this. Putting water on the fire. Hopefully? Roy is 66? K is 70? Cal is 58? Coach is 54?

I look for Cal to make another run at the NBA. However if he doesn't. The Team full of OAD's experiment has mixed results. It would appear. That the laws of basketball prevail even over the best of talents. One you have to have a dominant point guard, and Two you have to have a dominant center. Sure Cal can find that combination again. After all he gets all the talent.

The OAD maybe the down fall of Coach K. Not sure he has the fortitude and mindset to unlock the potential of a team full of OAD's. Coach Roy comes and goes. We seen it at KU. He finds the right recipe of players and he makes a two or three your run and then falls back to the pack. He's 66 can he find the recipe again here real soon?

Coach Self? Well I think he's on a mission for perfection. Once he figures how to beat you, well he's relentless. Oh he will have that hiccup once in awhile. Yet hey teams have off nights. It happens. Coach Self is an x and o mastermind. Just look at his run of Big 12 conference Championships. Yes you can make the case the Big 12 isn't this or that. My rebuttal would be it's hard, damn hard to do what Coach has done in this modern day of basketball. Plus he is still only 58.

Notice how Cal and K are all sold on OAD's? Not so sure Coach is. Now I know KU and Coach go after all the OAD's, yet notice Coach is always looking for that project player? That player that needs some time in Coach's oven?

Sorry I stirred you all wrong on a National Championship last year, yet Coach is getting close to cracking the formula. I feel it in my bones. If Coach can rattle of the Conference Championship win streak, in a power conference mind you. Why not in the national tournament? After all he's only 58.

We just have to keep them damn Spurs at bay.

Kind of like the Super Hero. It adds a little flair.

The Venezuelan Socialist Diet • Apr 20, 2017 09:32 PM

Any type of Government without checks and balances is doomed to fail. It leaves too much power with so few. As history as proven time and time again. Power and money corrupts the minds of those that intend to do good. Even a Monarchy can work for a season. Yet when the King or Queen that dies, that next in line may not have the love of the people on their mind. It Saddens me to no end to see so many young Americans trying to tear down the American concept not realizing they are merely jumping from the frying pan into the fire. I guess the old saying if you don't know the cost of freedom then you're doomed to lose it.

@approxinfinity I don't know Diallo showed flashes of greatness even with his limited playing time at KU. Yet I know he also floundered too with his limited playing time. However this is were I think Coach is a bit different than other top Coaches. He just doesn't care if you're OAD. If you play for him he expects you to learn something. I'm assuming that is why Coach and KU get turned down by a lot of Top recruits/OAD's. I don't know if its a good or bad thing? I guess it depends on prospective. Yet know no one can deny Diallo is very gifted young man. Hope he makes it in the NBA.

@approxinfinity

We were there and then gone and then back again.

I like it old @wiseone.

Is March Maddness a Sham? • Apr 11, 2017 02:57 AM

@drgnslayr

I have to believe that Coach will find his success in March Madness. He's to good not too.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH but man I'm getting weak hanging on until it happens. .

Yet that doesn't change my point. I'm afraid the NCAA Tournament is more about money than it's about crowning a true champion. I'm truly convinced a OAD tournament is a sham when crowning a true champion. Just look at the 16 seeds? There is a reason they haven't won a game in this so called fair way of crowing a true champion tournament. Hell the play in games would be undefeated against these 16 seed teams. like I said I get the upset factor but this OAD tournament doesn't offer a true champion. No it offers viewers watching the games. Which means money.

Is March Maddness a Sham? • Apr 11, 2017 02:39 AM

@approxinfinity

You should change your post name to @TheWiseONe.

Is March Maddness a Sham? • Apr 11, 2017 02:37 AM

@Bosthawk

It's hard to pick as the NC seems to mean so much.

Yet I feel what you're saying. Thanks.

I just feel such an injustice. This years KU team was bad to the bone. So sad to see it end on a bad shooting night.

I don't know. I'm just rambling.

Is March Maddness a Sham? • Apr 11, 2017 12:28 AM

Ever had those moments where you know what you want to say, but not quite sure how to put it into words? Well thats where I"m at.

I look at College basketball as a special part of my fandom. I love me some Royals, and I love me some Chiefs. I even have some growing love for Sporting KC. Yet College basketball and the Jayhawks are my bread and butter. I just spend way to much of my time caring and loving KU and what they are doing.

Having said all that, I've begun to question the intergity of College Basketball and how it crowns a Champion. I know I sound like that guy after his team loses he wants to change the rules. Yet I've been kind of wreslting with this issue for awhile.

I get that everybody loves an upset. And what better than a OAD tournament? Yet does the current system really crown a true champion? It just seems so criminal to send a team home who played the best of the best in the noncon, and then runs threw a power 5 conference, Only to be sent home because one team got hot for one night. or got saddled with officials that call a tighter game than they are used too.

Unlike Football and soccer. In basketball one player can change the whole game even for just one night. It just seems so unfair. Is this Socialism at it's best? A way to level the playing field? To give that lesser team a chance for one night?

You might say it's not the NC that matters it's the body of work that counts? Does it though? Winning the NC seems to mean everything. The winning Coach gets a new contract. The winning school gets a boom in recruiting. The Players on the winning team climb in draft boards. Hey they are champions. Donors pump in more money to keep the winning train rolling. So winning the NC seems to be alot, and means even more than the body of work.

Kind of crazy to think that so much good would come from winning a crap shot tournament.

So the question is how do you win this OAD tournament. Maybe UK and Duke aren't so wrong with selling their souls for the OAD's? If it all it takes is one player to have a great game to advance his team. Then why not fill your team with superstars? It would increase your odds of having that one player going off. Put in a basic concept of basetball for the team and then lay the ball at the feet of your superstars.

I don't know? I'm just rambling.

@Kcmatt7

I think the real hate is that Roy has now won 3 NC's at UNC. I sit here spooked by what I'm about to say next.

Are the Jayhawks cursed when it comes to winning it all? Are we KU fans just doomed when it comes to tournament time?

I mean we have a great Coach. We get a nice share of good to great players. KU knocks on the door of greatness almost every year.

What gives? Did we sell our soul to get Wilt to leave the East Coast and come to God's Country? None of this makes sense.

Maybe it's just us fans thinking our Jayhawks are more than they really are. That Coach fools us KU fans by doing such a good job of covering up the weaknesses of his teams from year to year.

When you love a team/School/Program so much it hurts and makes one scratch their head when a team like Oregon made KU look so ordinary.

I don't know? I'm just rambling.

Sorry to all I offended. It's just I live and die with KU.

You don't understand KU basketball righted my ship. I was a thug and lots of other things. Well until Danny and the miracles. Hard as it seems to believe it changed me. I can't tell you how or why. It just did.

Night My KU Brethren. It's time for me to go into the holding tank. I need to cool off.

@Blown

You're right. It was a magical season.

@Blown

I know. I just have a very bad temper. I even did anger management courses. I just can't wrap my mind around a KU fan saying I told you so.

Just slays me.

Never thought I be on a KU site were some would be beating their chest saying I told you so ???

Unbelievable.

I don't care who you are ??? If this KU loss doesn't hit your heart, then maybe you should look in the mirror.

Just maybe you isn't the KU fan you think you are.

@HawkChamp said:

@BigBad Thats why I want Bill to have long, defensive teams and mix it up. Its worked well for Jay Wright and Dana Altman.

I wouldn't trade Mason or Graham for anybody. I could say some more things but I won't as I'm already on thin ice.

@approxinfinity said:

I want Roy or Cal to beat Dana Altman and his guys badly.

Then Frank Martin (#BIFM2!) can finish off the winner.

I would be cool with that.

@HawkChamp

Knock yourself out. You seem to have all the answers.

@Blown

At least somebody gets it.

@HawkChamp said:

@DoubleDD if they were special, they would be going to Pheonix but they arent. Really tough defensive teams make our guys uncomfortable and have for years. We need to get guys of that caliber defensively and toughness wise to match up better and make other teams uncomfortable.

Well it seems you're an expert. Call Coach and see if you can get a job.

@HawkChamp said:

@DoubleDD I know about Frank - please. We could have used more length against Oregon.

Defense is king in the tournament, IMO, which is part of a larger category of energy. Bell had it. Dorsey had it. Brooks had it. Couple that with their length and defensive mindset and they couldnt be stopped.

I want a long, defensive team like Syracuse in 2013 or Kentucky in 2014/2015.

Well let me know when KU has a team to your liking. This team was special. If the shot fall KU is in the Final 4.

@HighEliteMajor

Thank you for some sanity. :clap:

The shots just didn't fall. Period.

@HawkChamp said:

@brooksmd it all goes back to preparation during the season. As you recall, I said that this team is soft and did not have a defensive mentality like what we saw against Nova and Oregon. Dont recruit small guards but get bigger ones that have girth. I love Frank and Devonte, but it made it tougher. Mario Chalmers/Russell Robinson types.

Are you kidding me ??? Mason is the toughest guard we have ever had. KU lost this game because the shots didn't fall. Plain and simple.

Man heavy heart. :cry:

Don't respond @cragarhawk

Seriously dude.

@DoubleDD guess you neglected to read the part that said I don't like being right about it. Gotta play more than 10 min in the tournament. Plain and simple. It was a tendency that scared me more than any other deficiencies this team may have had

Yep You were right all season. You're a fucking gensis. sorry @approxinfinity. I won't post for awhile I'll punish myself.

Damn.

@HawkChamp said:

@DoubleDD nope. We beat ourselves

I disagree the shots just didn't fall.

@cragarhawk

Don't pat yourself on the back. There is only one National champion.

Sadly UNC or UK will win this.

Oregon a team of destiny.

Just not KU's night. Put a fork in her.

I'm going say KU doesn't miss another shot.

KU about to start hitting shots. They won't miss.
