@mayjay It's embarrassing (to me, anyway). I cannot understand why we can't attract good coaches and good players. And, I'm of the belief that there is no coach anywhere that could come to KU and make a winning program with the players that we have. NOT talking about their heart or character - just their football ability. Is Urban Meyer going to turn this team around? NO. Vince Lombardi - NO. Whoever you think the best coaches of all time, at any level are - they can only coach players who can play with the big boys. And you have to have more than one or two. You have to have them stacked up 2 and 3 deep.

Sorry - sermon over. But I'm frustrated. I want us to be good at football too.

Re: the good players thing, I think you’ll be very happy with the class of 21. There are some doodz I’m pretty excited for. Between 20 and 21, it’s the most HS kids we’ve signed in a 2 year period as far back as I can find, so at least the Mason years.

2021 Recruiting • Dec 16, 2020 03:28 PM

19+ are signing early. Grays is my only maybe at this point. Lawrence is signing late. Also, might be a surprise later in the week...

Is Logan jr coming back?

Kenny’s just a sophomore. He’ll 100% be back. He and Prunty are close.

Robinson in the portal.

Huntley Hatfield is staying in 22. Really good from KU’s end. We’re obviously full of bigs for the foreseeable future.

Are we going to do this every off-season?

With Les’s age I suspect so. And there will always be a segment of our fanbase (not saying anyone on this board) that unless the coach performs an actual miracle like getting the 2020 Jayhawks to 4 wins or something, it’s time to blow it all up and start over. It’s one of the big problems with having a fanbase used to basketball where you can rebuild in a year.

ok, got a question Farmer. - -so if Cuffe commits for 2021, that gives us Curry, Clemence , KJ And Cuffe - -would end up being nice class. - -However wouldn't we be over the limit ? - someone getting squeezed out ? ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Let me try to do the math...

In: Curry, Clemence, Cuffe, Adams
Out (or won’t count against the cap of 13): Silvio, Marcus, Mitch

So I think we’re 1 over with Cuffe? With the likelihood of immediate eligibility for transfers, someone will leave. I don’t see anyone going pro early off this team.

There’s some consternation behind the scenes with Les’s style. It’s a much tighter ship than Beaty ran (which is good). Add to that the KSU fueled rumors that he has dementia (which is wildly false), it wouldn’t surprise me if some are trying to will Les retiring into existence. As far as I know, Les intends on seeing the rebuild through and would only step down if there was a slam dunk replacement that could ensure some level of continuity out of respect for Long.

In spite of covid, Auburn is giving Gus Malzahn $21.5m to go away. Freeze? Whoever it is, you don’t fork out that kind of cash unless you have your man.

Lovie out at Illinois (can he come back to Chicago? Pls?) that’s a program that should be better than what it’s been.

Matt Wells looks like toast at Tech for some reason. Do they bring back Briles?

Sumlin out at Arizona after cratering that program. Sark?

When is Cuff making his announcement ? - -If he re-classifies do we want this guy ?

The 19th and yes

I’ll take any WR, Hughes, Clark (as long as he’s at guard), Betts, Thomas, and I guess MacVittie. Though sounds like he’s ready to hang up the cleats.

Non-KU Games Thread • Dec 12, 2020 10:11 PM

@approxinfinity gosh I hope not. I think we could probably do additional cardiac screening for those who’ve been infected rather than canceling the season.

KU Still Number 2 in All-Time Wins • Dec 12, 2020 07:48 PM

@stoptheflop said in KU Number 1 in All-Time Wins:

Did you miss it? Kentucky started the season with 1903 wins compared to KU's 1899. With KU 6-1 and Kentucky 1-3, for now KU has the most overall wins. KU has 1905 wins to UK's 1904. RC

I hate to be a downer, but those are the years each team started competition. Both teams are well over 2000 wins each.

Twitter is Twitter but maybe a reason Smith is a 21 option...

Was told they only really want Smith for 22. Would still expect Curry to end up at KU.

I concur. “Interest” can be a lot of things. Probably just want game tape and some verified measurements.
