The Texas case is officially dead. SCOTUS kicked it 9-0, and the only remotely interesting part was Thomas and Alito saying the case had no merit but still had to hear it based on original jurisdiction (the idea that under Article III the Court has to hear all disputes between states).

@BShark of course. I just like giving him crap because he's generally deserving of it. Talk about a sweet gig he's got over there.

IARP to reinvestigate KU case for 3 months • Dec 11, 2020 08:21 PM

It seems like this process is on the same time schedule as some of the major road construction projects around here.

You know what they’re building? Friendship.

There’s some smoke around KU and Kyle Cuffe...

Is he a good shooter of more of an athlete on the wing?

Incredible athlete. Self and co will have to do their patented tear down and rebuild of his shooting form. At bare minimum he’d be able to come in right away and defend (already a plus defender) and drive. In some ways he’s similar to Devon in style, but Cuffe is definitely more of a pure athlete where Devon was just absurdly fast.

Gonna go get that PT. Was definitely passed over for youth this year, and it won’t get better with Bryant, et al. coming.

I’d take him in 21 if there was a spot abs could redshirt, so he’d be a quasi-22

Huge get. Even better if we can open up a pipeline in St. Louis.

So true open the Pipeline and keep Iowa State out - -shut it down

Along those lines, if Dearmon were to get the Monroe job (I don’t think he will), first call I’d make would be to Scheelhaase. We won’t get him for a lateral move, but a chance to be OC and call plays at the hometown school? Could get it done.

dook opted out of their non-con schedule. Really stunning that K would do such a thing when his team is garbage. They'd be playing daily if it was the Zion year.

I think Dave has it in him to be a good passer. If he can work on kicking it out and making quicker decisions with the ball in the post he can do better to stay on the floor. It's interesting because we all watch him and he LOOKS "sped up" or like the game is too fast but I think that's more of a symptom of being slow in making decisions. If he keeps the ball in the post and takes a dribble or makes a move, by the time he does it, guards are digging down, and his defender claims the space he's trying to move into. Maybe we actually need Dave to SPEED UP?!

Had an old coach tell me once, slow down to go fast.

Dearmon • Dec 10, 2020 09:15 PM

Is an early candidate for jobs at UL-Monroe and Arkansas State. Might have to do an OC hunt this offseason. Again.

hmmm, actually thought this would go off , they had talked how Texas had resumed practice and such. - Oh well let's hope Football is something we can look forward to next year. - -Should start seeing more of Les recruits next year. - - started focusing more now on 2022 recruits.

Farmer - -how many of this years Senior class do you guess might come back next year ?

5-10 maybe? Kyron Johnson and Kyle Mayberry are coming back for sure if memory serves. Would love to have Hughes, Clark, Parchment, Robinson, and Prox back. I can kind of take or leave everyone else.

2021 Recruiting • Dec 10, 2020 07:22 PM

Signing period starts next Wednesday. I expect 21ish signees. Only guy not currently committed but I do expect to sign is De’Kedrick Sterns. The huge nugget is about 8 will join in January.

The COVID-19 economy • Dec 10, 2020 05:45 PM

@benshawks08 said in The COVID-19 economy:

@FarmerJayhawk Yeah but his idea gets rid of state and local relief which ALREADY has wide bipartisan support in exchange for getting rid of his liability shield which is purely Republican supported. Not exactly how compromise works...

Not sure I buy the premise. Seems to be pretty tepid support for state and local funding from a lot of R’s. There is wide support for aid to schools to keep open, though and has received nearly unanimous GOP support.

Like pulling teeth to get Schumer to say yes to anything. Makes me wonder if, like Pelosi, his position is contingent on the outcome of the Georgia races.

Regardless, the final package will look similar to a lot of proposals floating around: liability shield, refueled PPP, expanded UI, aid to state and locals, additional funding for the health sector and schools, mayyybe another round of (likely smaller) checks. The rest is just posturing. McConnell won’t get his “skinny” bill and Pelosi won’t get her $3 trillion monstrosity. They’ll land around $1 trillion and we’ll all just keep rolling.

2021 Commit Stats Tracker • Dec 10, 2020 04:54 AM

Had this thought and am curious about how other folks think. Instead of getting super high ranked guys, we’re getting guys that have a “thing” that they just do better than others. Curry is a rebounder/dunker. Clemence a shooter. Adams a matchup problem at the 4. Not a lot of pro talent there, but those guys are going to make a tough college frontcourt to defend.

CreightonBarrel Game Random Thoughts • Dec 10, 2020 02:41 AM

Seems to me Dave has no idea how to use his size and length. I call him Bambi sometimes because he looks like a baby deer trying to figure out how to walk around sometimes. He just needs to slow down a bit and figure out how to use his frame (e.g. drawing contact in the lane, post moves).

Non-KU Games Thread • Dec 10, 2020 02:35 AM

@BeddieKU23 smart. You never know when a couple guys go out with the virus or contact tracing.

What's up with Agbaji? • Dec 10, 2020 02:34 AM

Ochai has been very good. I see no reason to cut his minutes or take him out of the lineup.

The COVID-19 economy • Dec 10, 2020 02:31 AM

Of course he then put a bill on the floor without the liability shield and with a bunch of stuff that had already gained wide, bipartisan support and Senate D’s filibustered it.

Toronto Blue Jays discussion. • Dec 09, 2020 04:03 AM

Looked like bad Tyon to me. Half a step slow on D, missed some easy looks, missed some passes. He’ll have some like that. But wow, once the light comes on it’ll be hard to keep him off the floor.

At least after the Electoral College votes and Congress certifies it, it'll be near unanimous. Only the really whacky (think like Chakah Fattah and Alcee Hastings in 2000) will contest the certification in Congress.

So I guess my question now becomes , I saw/read that Hawley is holding off and will not be committing in the early period. - - My question is concerning KU and with us getting CB' do you think he picked up on the fact that we might be having other QB'S commit such as the North Carolina kid/Jace ? - -or considering us and then saw off TOS that there was a QB possibly rumor going to be visiting this weekend - - do you think it might make Hawley cool off - IF he was seriously considering us ?

I think he's just waiting to see how things play out. If we take a transfer QB in January, I think that probably means we wouldn't take 3 QB's in the class. We may offer a grayshirt or something but I think he's going to have better opportunities than that.

Is January the early signing date this year for the football ?

It’s in mid-December like normal. But a transfer QB could just show up and not sign a LOI
