2021 Recruiting • Nov 24, 2020 09:40 PM

@jayballer67 I think you’re pretty much spot on, my man. There are some traits there to work with. Huge frame. Could easily add 20 pounds of good weight. That’ll help the arm strength. It gets there, but he tends to leave it high. I like the athleticism too. Shows some escapability. Not a guy that could probably play next year or even the year after, but he’s an intriguing prospect. I believe we could land him if we really push.

Here we go... • Nov 24, 2020 08:16 PM

Andrew Nembhard got his waiver. Zags are stupid deep.

As an aside, man he’d look good in crimson and blue.

Harbaugh • Nov 24, 2020 12:06 AM

Updated the numbers again and this is kind of wild. We've played 24 true freshmen and 8 RS freshmen this year. If you add up all the players in their 3rd year or less (so true sophomores, RS frosh, true frosh) that's 51 guys. The youth is just bananas. Now some of that is covid-related and that this year is a freebie, but that's a stupid number of young guys getting reps.

Harbaugh • Nov 23, 2020 08:10 PM

Staying the course is important. The 2020 class was the first in over a decade (I think) to be all HS talent, and is the highest ranked since one of Gill's first classes. 21 is on track to be a bit better. And a lot of the emphasis in these classes is on guys who will take time to develop and become Big 12 quality players (OL, DL, LB, TE to some degree). Now if we're getting housed by 40 every game in 21, I'll start to be nervous. But this was always going to be the most challenging year for the Miles regime. Something like 10 of Beaty's 2018 recruits are no longer on the roster, when in a normal program that takes mostly freshmen, those 10 would be RS sophomores just figuring it out. But if you look at the class (https://247sports.com/college/kansas/Season/2018-Football/Commits/) ↗ it's hard to find many contributors. Similar story for 17. Out of 23 enrollees (again, who should be upperclassmen at this point, only 7 are on the roster, with only 1 (Kyron Johnson) being a regular starter. The only players left from 16 (who would be 5th year seniors) are Kyle Mayberry, Chris Hughes, Malik Clark, Kyle Thompson, and Julian Chandler. Ideally you'd have about twice that many.

Long story short, you don't change contractors after ripping down to the foundation and figuring out all the work that needs to be done. Stick with your guy when he's got the right plan and won't cut corners, even when he tells some off color jokes and might go of on a tangent about aliens.

Harbaugh • Nov 23, 2020 04:17 AM

Negative. First, it could blow up the 21 class and we’d be starting from scratch. Again. Whatever he had at SF and Stanford he seems to have lost re: getting his teams to play physical, disciplined football. He never really developed a QB at Michigan. Remember when Shea Patterson was supposed to be the guy? He was worse at Michigan than Ole Miss. And now they’ve changed schemes entirety. Harbaugh has one of the best DC’s in the country and done not much with it. We wouldn’t be getting 2010 Harbaugh with all fire and brimstone. They look like they’ve quit on Harbaugh. Our guys have not quit on Les.

All Politicked Out? Election 2020 • Nov 22, 2020 03:18 AM

This opinion is awesome for a couple reasons. One is how much he shreds the entire case brought by the Trump team. And two, Judge Brann is a FedSoc member and Trump appointee 😂 ?s=21

KU fires O-line coach Luke Meadows • Nov 21, 2020 05:26 AM

This needed to be done. Excited to see if Les and the new guy make the changes we need. No more Clark at LT. Play Bostick there, kick Clark back to guard. Play the young guys about everywhere else.

@jayballer67 yeah, it would be a fine. Similar to a noise complaint type deal.

@jayballer67 basically people narcing on each other.

Dot to the Bulls, per Woj. Couldn’t ask for a better fit for him given his roots.

Tonight 6:30 DDot and Doke • Nov 19, 2020 05:12 AM

Wouldn’t be surprised if Dot’s agent after a certain point called teams and said we’d rather go undrafted and pick the destination.

Tonight 6:30 DDot and Doke • Nov 19, 2020 03:43 AM

Go Doke. So happy for him. Get first round money and it’s a perfect fit in Utah.

KU/Texas Cancelled this weekend • Nov 18, 2020 11:10 PM

Medium warm take. This could be a good thing. Buys us another few practices when every single day counts to build the program.

It's not in Greensboro this year, it's in DC this season.

Wow that’s as far as K will go from Durham.

Only if Duke's skipping out on the 2022 ACC Tournament in Brooklyn. They won't be back to Greensboro until 2023.

‘Twas a joke about K never playing road games my dude

Can't taste or smell? Oh the humanity! The obvious answer is that government must step in and shut down all schools and stunt our kids' growth, force people to lose their businesses/livelihoods/jobs by closing restaurants, businesses, etc. that they have worked their lives to build because some people temporarily can't taste their coffee. I hope that comes off as insensitive to many of you because its meant to be a bit of a wake up call. This is a politically exaggerated virus and a lot of people have fallen into the trap. Of course there are very real concerns about people's heath that need to be taken seriously (the elderly, high risk people) just like every year with the flu, and i genuinely hope anyone that is struggling with the virus fully recovers. However i just don't think the rest of the world should be forced to grind to a halt over such a small percent of people that have serious issues.

Our family circle has had about a dozen people we know get C19, most had mild to no symptoms. Others said it was worse than a common cold but not as bad as the flu. Another actually had C19 and the flu at the same time and just said it was a little rough, a few days of bad headaches, but was back to work in a few weeks. On the other hand, i have a friend that owns a very popular daycare franchise, multiple locations, that has gone from very successful and thinking about early retirement to now be on the verge of bankruptcy. I've spoken to owners of many local businesses we love that say if round 2 of shutdowns was to hit our state (which it appears to be happening) that they definitely won't survive.

Ironically, allergies force me to lose my taste and smell every year. I guess it never occurred to me to just stay inside my house, stop living my life, and hide until allergy season is over because of the horror of losing my taste and smell. No offense to anyone but if the worst thing you have is temporarily losing your taste and smell, you're doing pretty good. Enjoy your life and don't let minor setbacks stop you from doing it.

Its a good time to come back Jaybate so i can maybe get at least one upvote!

Yawn. Sorry. Didn’t wake up. Like the now well over 300,000 people who died from this “cold.”

Been out from the sound of it, your wording reads that way too. Now I imagine Aidoo becomes the absolute top target.

I think that’s right. Also expect them to be active in the transfer market given likely immediate eligibility for everyone and the lack of evals for HS kids.

Made Sallis's final 8: KU, UK, UNC, Oregon, Creighton, ISU, UCLA, Gonzaga. Don't think we're much more than window dressing at this point.

@approxinfinity thank you, sir. I talked to her over lunch and she's in good spirits. More than anything she's mad she can't taste her coffee.

@FarmerJayhawk praying for your mom!🙏 it's really bad here!

Thank you! It looks like a lot of the rural part of the state is really getting hammered. I heard Children’s Mercy took all of KU Med’s pediatric patients to free up beds for covid. Be safe out there, folks.

@RockkChalkk said in so looks like Covid starting to cause problems with basketball already:

@DanR yeah, forcing people to give up the core fundamental for why this country was founded because of a cold that 99% of people recover from is such a brilliant idea. All those covid free dictatorships out there are such a shining beacon of hope for what we should aspire to be.

My 50-something year old mom is in rough shape with this “cold” and another friend (college baseball player, so not some diabetic boomer) has lost his taste and smell for months (and has lost a ton of weight because eating makes him nauseous) so with all due respect, this is a bad take. People really should take the necessary precarious, and if they choose not to and put others at risk, government should step in.

On the hoops side, I kind of like Slick Rick’s idea to delay everything to after the first of the year when hopefully a vaccine is available (for at least some part of the population) and we have the tournament in May after even more people can get inoculated. Might be our best shot at an uninterrupted season.

KU/Oklahoma oh boy here we go • Nov 14, 2020 08:32 PM

I think we’re on the same plan as these schools were a couple years ago. You’re not allowed to play in the postseason immediately when coming to FBS so Coastal redshirted something like 40 guys one year. And now they’re all RS seniors and juniors. I bet we RS a ton of guys next year (especially with the 4 game rule) and then really see what we have in 2022 and 23.

Europe is locking down again right? I'm betting on that happening here as well after Trump.

I posted this before the other day but or Coach Self was talking and said he had heard a Biden advisor saying that he could see a 4-6 week lockdown coming. So I don't know if he is hinting that THIS IS what is coming or what

Yeah, idk. I don’t think lockdowns are politically acceptable at this point. And from looking at the research, I don’t think lockdowns are that effective anyway.

Just for the sake of conversation, would Danny taking the WSU job make folks fans? I say yes. The American seems like more Danny's speed than the ACC and I think he could be successful with assistants who were good recruiters.

I’m so impressed with the defense. They get zero help and routinely play their tails off until snap 80 or so when they’re just out of gas. Lots of talent to build around: Parker, Harris, Terry, Prunty, Logan, and on it goes. They’ll be really salty in a year or two.

@FarmerJayhawk so this may be a dumb question, since they are still counting votes, why have they already called a re-election for the senators in Georgia? Couldn't one of them gotten over 50%? More votes. Provisional votes still coming in. Please don't embarrass me🙏

There are no dumb questions you don’t know the answer to! So in the Warnock/Loeffler/Collins race, nobody is getting close to 50%. Not sure if Warnock hit 35. In the Perdue/Ossoff race, Perdue is close to 50% but I’m 99.99% sure he’s not going to get there. If 10,000 more votes were to come in and Perdue got them all, he still wouldn’t hit 50%. So going off what’s still left to count (mostly very Democratic areas), it’s mathematically impossible for Perdue to get to 50% of the total vote. So we’ll have Warnock/Loeffler and Perdue/Ossoff runoffs on January 5th! Does that answer your question?
