Ah, I'm quite jealous of you all who have most things open. NC (Chapel Hill especially) is basically still on lockdown. Most of the downtown restaurants closed either temporarily or many called it quits permanently. Some even have GoFundMe's to make it through. Public parks are about half open, hair salons are 1-2 people at a time, grocery stores have cut hours, schools are closed through January (including UNC), and only college football (no fans) through September. No high school sports until next year. I'm very happy for you all who basically get to live like you have, thank your lucky stars. In other places it's still brutal. And I'm not sure when things will turn around. Probably waiting on a vaccine, and then we may not have much of an economy left. Sad situation.
I'm sure her presenting herself as black didn't hurt her case to get hired at GW. The academy is a very identity-centric place nowadays, so she might have intentionally presented in such a way to match her identity and research focus, which in my judgment is a breach of research ethics. I'm sure she said she was black in applying for funding reserved for minorities and that kind of thing.
@Marco said in This is the kind of Pub KU doesn't need:
This whole nation is going to be okay. We need to start living, and quit waiting to die. Saw on the news today where NYC restaurants are still closed, as far as indoor dining. I mean, can you imagine the hurt that the owners and employees of those places are going through? The people who are most susceptible to the virus won't be going to them anyway, why keep them closed? Let's be real.... We know enough about this virus now to understand that continuing to still keep the country shut down in many places is - let's face it - now doing more harm than good. Let's live, America.
The longer this goes on, the more I’m in favor of relaxing some of the restrictions. I got my hair cut today, felt totally safe. Yet, my city is dying because nobody is allowed to host any amount of customers inside that would make them profitable. Downtown is a ghost town. There are more homeless people than customers. It’s so, so sad.

@FarmerJayhawk I assume u mean Jacque? I agree. He did a good job in the playoffs, lots of injuries, too. He deserved it. KD isn’t very loyal anyway. Guess that’s the nba
I do! It would be really hard to pull him from the NBA, but if there's one job that can pull it off, it's Kansas. We may have to Roy W guilt trip him into it but hey, it worked out for UNC.
He’s on my short, short list of guys I’d hire if Self left.

Certainly an interesting finding. Nothing causal yet, but the association is eye-opening. Would like to see a control group of non-infected student athletes to get a baseline comparison.

I'd love for KU to actually get back in the game.
There might be a little something to it. KU is pushing for a reclass and UK has a lot less appeal in 21, given Askew and Hickman will definitely be there, and they're likely in Sallis's top 2.

Trumps new "medical" expert. Dr atlas, goes right along with him. Hinting around about herd immunity. Although denying it. Fox doesn't even want him on!🤣🤡
Fun thing about them! Atlas, MD is a subscription service in Wichita. I really like their delivery model. Give them a set amount per month, have unlimited visits sans insurance. Nice guys too.
Though as right as they are on a delivery model, they’re just as wrong on herd immunity. The data from Sweden are unambiguously bad.
@kjayhawks said in CDC's effort to suppress testing:
@FarmerJayhawk very, I’ve said since the beginning elderly and people with Health issues should be quarantining. When the story changes constantly, it makes it tough to know what to believe that’s all I’m saying.
That’s fair. A lot of the experts haven’t covered themselves in glory. First the mask 180, then well some outdoor things are ok but some aren’t depending on the cause (I.e. church vs. protesting) and more examples yet. This just seems to be one of the more tame ones.
@kjayhawks said in CDC's effort to suppress testing:
Interesting, CDC has also released that over 94% of deaths involving Covid had an average of 2.6 other underlying medical conditions. The info changes so often who heck knows
If I have hemophilia and a bear bites me and I bleed to death on the way to the hospital, the bear killed me. Just another way to think about it.
Glad most states are telling them to shove it and sticking with the old guidelines. Federalism works!
Us out East are going to have to do some smelling salts down the stretch. Lets hope the 4th quarter is boring that way.
Ok, thanks I guess 🐦 View Tweet?s=21

so the other 35 are what then ? they having to pay to go to School no Scholi , or what bud ?
Yeah, they’re walk-ons.
Thank you so much buddy , I knew someone could set me straight on this - that's why I love this site , someone doesn't know the answer - -you'll find one.
Hey on a seperate note , did you get a chance to watch Easters last night. - -I watched the whole game, gotta say pretty exciting High School game. - If you did, what did you think.
I think he has a fairly decent chance to be a pretty solid QB. - -looks to me like he throws a pretty decent deepball maybe a little more consistence, - -BUT he had a very nive 2nd half I think sure he has things to work on but nothing that can't be fixed - - maybe making some better reads , looking of receives , and things, pretty confident Pro style QB right ?
The big thing is hanging on to him - -what did YOU think ?
No problem!
I watched the first half. He's got a decent arm and good deep touch. I didn't love his footwork or short accuracy. I think those are somewhat correctable. I think he's solid on KU, but I don't know if KU is solid on him. I think we'd take another QB in a heartbeat if there was another one out there. We tried to get Landon Rodgers a month or so ago before he committed again to Arkansas.

Chapel Hill's covid numbers are getting a lot better with each week. In part because most of the city is shut down.
Apparently KJ Adams balled out last night. I think we got a really solid one.
The party will move on. Probably to someone like Pence, Cotton, or Hawley. Nikki Haley and Tim Scott are in a very high tier as well. If Trump gets buried (too soon to tell) the party will dump him like a bad ex. The last two incumbents to lose (Carter and HW) were basically pariahs in their parties for more than a decade after their losses. Unlike Don Jr, W Bush actually had a real career and record of his own to run on, as successful businessman and governor of Texas. The sharks are circling around the Trumps in case they lose.
If Trump loses he’ll flame out pretty quickly. Americans don’t like losers.

Sounds like Bates wants to play early and that was a big factor.
Yep. KU could’ve promised him X minutes but chose not to. Not as big a push as they could’ve made. In KU’s mind he was a 4th or 5th guard type behind Harris, Thompson, Braun, and a lead guard higher on their board.
@Texas-Hawk-10 we’ll see what happens after this season. There’s a path to PT for him but not one that’s particularly desirable from KU’s angle. Losing both Enaruna and TGF would be a giant kick in the nads.

New JUCO offer
Not sure how serious the offer is but I can see why the staff offered. I'd be thrilled if this kid ended up at KU. Elite athlete.
I dig. Could very well play the 5 with Clemence or Enaruna or Wilson or TGF at the 4. Or the 4 with McCormack at the 5.
Yeah that would be a salty rotation. Lots of shooting at the big spots too. The staff is offering every big/forward still available but not too many guards. Makes me think they know something we don't.
There’s a world where Tyon (mistakenly IMO) thinks he’s a OAD, Wilson transfers or Enaruna goes pro, and all the guards come back. Lots of contingency planning.

That's great and all and nothing against this kid , BUT I think we should be going full bore and more trying to scour the Nation for a PG.- -I think at this point we are much better off on frontcourt players then back. - -We NEED a PG - kind like how badly our football program needs a QB/- - I wouldn't think a player like this would be a priority
Guard is definitely the priority. Sallis is in his own tier on KU’s board. They’ll run the race with Davison as well. Beyond that, may look at transfers. I expect a lot of runoff waivers.

I’ve worn some a few times in school plays and tv hits ¯_(ツ)_/¯. I didn’t hear the Herman Cain line. There was a lot going on there

Reminder Trump appointed this guy
Reminder he was unanimously confirmed by the Senate to multiple executive branch posts and rated as qualified by the ABA. Some rando named Elena Kagan never tried any cases before getting 60some votes to be a Supreme Court Justice.
It does behoove us to note that the literature around race and officer involved shootings is.. ummm... complicated. Depending on how you specify a model and analyze the data you'll come up with substantially different results. Even in very high level journals, different papers find different conclusions.
Strong ass allegations
My sister and one of my best friends are in Lafayette. Was a wild night (everyone’s fine though, thankfully).
Word is the Bucks are trying to get the Wisconsin legislature to take some action. Of note: the Gov. Walker-led reforms of years ago exempted police and fire unions. Methinks it’s time to un-exempt them and break the Union. And of course do the basic things like end qualified immunity and require additional transparency in investigations of law enforcement.
This is huge. 🐦 View Tweet?s=21

For sure. Still looking at adding another DB and DE as well. Then it's probably best player available/QB.

I hope so. I think he's a game changer in football.
I think for optics as much as production. Kids look at the kind of recruits a place gets as a signal that it's a good place to be. Especially in football. Basketball can be more complicated in that regard since there's the shoe circuit albatross out there.
Davison called us one of his dream schools. Means we're officially out 😂

Color me much more optimistic here. FSU and lil Carolina are lurking but he’s a Jayhawk until he isn’t.

I watched the DNC last week and it reinforced all the reasons I’m not a Democrat 😂
Good news today. Positive rate is about 1.1% among the student body. If everyone behaves themselves, we should be ok. But that's a yuuuuuuge if
I will also add this could end with football free agency after the 2021 season. Everyone will still have just 85 scholarships to work with, but you'll still have six classes worth of players since 2020 doesn't count toward eligibility. So a lot of guys will transfer looking for new places, and the NCAA has been giving out runoff waivers like candy this offseason. Without guaranteed financial aid, many will be on the lookout for new homes come the 2021 offseason.
