@BShark Well I'm not to smart but seems to me that it would be pretty hard to visit UCLA this weekend when it was stated that he is visiting here on the 28th. Visits usually late just a wee bit more then 24 hours. - -so ya still confusing. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

I think you've confused yourself. KU visit is OCTOBER 28 not September.

Furthermore, the early signing period is a week after the visit.

Whiff City • Sep 27, 2017 12:02 AM

@BShark and Dotson.

ROMEO LANGFORD • Sep 26, 2017 08:40 PM

@BShark I think that’s right. If Vick has a late first grade with Langford and Grimes coming, he should take it. Langford is so talented that he’s not sitting on any roster next season.

Langford is a wing. Grimes is a guard.

Exactly. Grimes would play the 2 and Langford the 3 in Self's preferred offense. I don't really think they affect each other. Langford is looking more if Vick stays or goes, if anything.

ROMEO LANGFORD • Sep 26, 2017 07:42 PM

Writer for the Indy Star saying it's "nearly done" that Romeo will go to KU. It makes a ton of sense since Louisville (his previous likely landing spot) is about to get nuked to the Stone Age by the NCAA. I'd absolutely love the pickup.

Whiff City • Sep 25, 2017 03:50 PM

@BeddieKU23 I’ve heard that too. Sometimes guys just have an off day. The in-home was better from what I’ve heard.

Whiff City • Sep 25, 2017 02:22 PM

At the end of the day, Zion can go to KU if that's the right spot for him. Mom may not be super thrilled about him being far away, but every KU game is on TV and that's a pretty easy flight if they want to come out for a game or two. If not here, I really hope he stays in-state so he's not at a rival school. Someone may have said it earlier, but Self is amazing with parents, so he should be able to assure Mom that they'll take the best care of Zion.

I have to wonder? Is Coach Self taking himself and KU out of the OAD circus? I mean 2 quality bigs b4 late night? Has he finally figured holding out for the 5 stars and missing on other top talent made his job harder? I mean I think I would rather lock up the top 4 star talent that will give you a couple years. I wouldnt turn down 5 star guys BUT if KU lets UK, DUKE, and company fight for the 5 stars while we swoop in and sign the best 4 star guys I am game!

I think it’s more a function of this class not having many good bigs. When Bagley went to 17 it left 18 with really only one surefire OAD big (Bol Bol), kind of a rarity. I also think our lack of bigs the last couple years has driven Bill up the wall. Definitely not his preference to play small. With Silvio and Dave, we’ll be able to beat up anyone on the block.

As an added bonus, Dave is going to be in Zion’s ear all next weekend about KU. Just a little extra bump from committing now instead of a week from today.

Welcome David McCormack • Sep 24, 2017 10:47 PM

He’s a legit 6’10 and pretty long too. Great size for a 5. We’re going to dominate the glass with him, de Sousa, Lawson, and maybe Udoka.

It’s done, Dave will be a Jayhawk. Great job by the staff on he and de Sousa. Now just need to bring back one of Preston and Udoka and we’ll have an insane frontcourt.

Whiff City • Sep 21, 2017 04:38 PM

Don’t be surprised if McCormack commits after Late Night. Also, Quickley is going to Kentucky. No idea where the KU buzz came from, but it seems to just be a rumor.

Ok so lets see if new recruiting thread • Sep 16, 2017 08:35 PM

The Rivals guys are pretty sure Dotson is Florida bound. If that's true, I'll be interested to find out what changed. People around KU and national guys had him on commit watch before the visit.

Whiff City • Sep 13, 2017 08:16 PM

Grimes's visit to Late Night was planned to be unofficial anyway. I can't really blame the kid for taking a paid trip elsewhere when he'd have to pay to come to Late Night.

Whiff City • Sep 13, 2017 03:55 AM

I'm not convinced Dotson goes anywhere but Lawrence. If anything, he may have been irritated everyone thought it was a done deal. Let him get the Florida visit done, then we'll see. Losing Zion Griffin was a bummer. He's the next Burton at ISU.

Whiff City • Sep 12, 2017 11:15 PM

Dotson to Florida, or anywhere isn't done yet. Still think he ends up a Jayhawk.

Ok so lets see if new recruiting thread • Sep 08, 2017 09:33 PM

KU is doing an in-home with Grimes this weekend.

Ok so lets see if new recruiting thread • Sep 08, 2017 06:59 PM

UT's starting 5 is probably second best in the conference. If he can't at least get to .500 in conference play, we'll know he's a garbage coach.

KU is in a good spot with McCormack, and he'd be a great fit in the offense. I don't think he's good enough to start year one, but could be a beast in years 2-3.

Ok so lets see if new recruiting thread • Aug 30, 2017 10:49 PM

Jeff Ermann has always accused KU of being one of the dirtiest programs. I think the Jackson recruitment broke him.

Ok so lets see if new recruiting thread • Aug 30, 2017 08:38 PM

It's a great pickup. Fran thinks he's a top 10 player in the class. I'm not as high on him, but I'm not sure he's any lower than the 20-25 range. I do think he's closer to 255 than 225. The guy is pretty thick and ripped. He's big enough to play the 5 with that frame and motor. His lack of offensive skill may hold him at KU for an extra year or two as well. Doesn't strike me as a OAD really.

As far as implications for other guys, probably means KU is out for Emmitt Williams. He and de Sousa are fairly similar, so I'm not sure where Williams fits. Zion is being recruited as more of a wing, so shouldn't impact him. As others have said, Big Dave is a center, so there's limited overlap. More dependent on Udoka.

Ok so lets see if new recruiting thread • Aug 28, 2017 02:52 AM

De Sousa's recruitment is very, very quiet so it's not a surprise this didn't leak beforehand. There are two factors working for Maryland here. First is the IMG/Under Armour connection. Second is his close relationship with Terp freshman Bruno Fernando. Both are Angolan and would love to play together. De Sousa is a physical specimen. Large frame, and great athlete. T-Rob isn't a bad comp at the same age. What I don't know is how much KU is actually in it. Like I said, this is a very quiet recruitment and not a lot is going to get out.

Is this Beaty's defining season? • Aug 26, 2017 06:46 PM

I expect 3-4 wins this year. We'll finally have an offense with Meacham's scheme and a QB who's game ready. I like Stanley, but Beaty really had to pare back what we did for him last year. No knock on Carter, he was just a RS freshman without game reps.

I'm really looking at the Ohio game. If we can go win there, 4-5 wins may be possible. Tech at home could be a win if our defense is passable. If we lose at home to CMU, it could be a long year. I'd lean more optimistic just because I love the fit with Meacham and Bender, plus the really good D-line will mask some deficiencies in the secondary.

Ok so lets see if new recruiting thread • Aug 26, 2017 06:22 PM

Good for Danny. Really good pickup.

Ok so lets see if new recruiting thread • Aug 25, 2017 09:10 PM

@BShark this is true. I think KU broke their fans with Josh Jackson and Billy Preston.

Ok so lets see if new recruiting thread • Aug 25, 2017 08:52 PM

@BShark I'm not sure if it's an official or not. I think they probably can take them both, but would be very un-Maryland like to get two top 30 big men. Him visiting KU before Maryland is a good sign though.

Ok so lets see if new recruiting thread • Aug 25, 2017 08:06 PM

2018 Big Silvio de Sousa is on a visit to KU now. Haven't heard KU linked with him much, though we did offer him in May. He's going to be a really, really good college big. Huge frame and a great athlete.

Who starts for Kansas at QB • Aug 25, 2017 01:31 AM

It'll be Bender. If the line is halfway decent (looking at the tackles) he should have a big year. Losing Quiv as a deep threat isn't optimal, but Sims is still a legit threat, and Quan Hampton has apparently been great in that role too. I look for things to be opened up more under Meacham. TCU ran a ton of 10 and empty personnel sets. Not sure we'll do that much this year, but it's something to watch for.

Ok so lets see if new recruiting thread • Aug 23, 2017 04:12 PM

@BeddieKU23 I'd almost be surprised if he visits anywhere else. More time for him to work on Zion! Who I think is a UK/KU battle right now. Duke seems to have moved to Reddish (lock) and Barrett, who's pretty open to any school with a check mark.

Ok so lets see if new recruiting thread • Aug 23, 2017 02:05 AM

McCormack would be a good add. Almost certainly not a OAD, but can be super productive at this level. KU should get an official later on. Williams is a total freak show. 11/10 athlete and motor, and because of his size (maybe 6'7?) he won't be in a hurry to bolt either.

What About Mitchell? • Aug 23, 2017 02:02 AM

@BShark thanks man. I agree Robinson to anywhere is probably dead. Forde (yeah, I know) put out an article that said Robinson hadn't been in touch with KU since last week. Almost feel sorry for him. He's a great talent, but needs more coaching and refinement than most around his ranking. Would've been awesome to have here if he had his head on straight.

What About Mitchell? • Aug 22, 2017 11:17 PM

Per Zags, Robinson isn't going to NOLA since their enrollment deadline is today. KU's is a week after class starts if memory serves. I'd still be surprised if KU was his destination.
