I’ll be there with 3 friends. 45-17
@Kcmatt7 they wanted a weeknight game for sure this week to get an extra prep day for Illinois. Until ofc both games got moved to Friday. The additional exposure of being in Primetime on national tv is a bonus too. And then the extra prep day to head to Nevada is nice.
The Billy Eugene Self Revenge Tour is off to a BLAZING start
@jayballer67 I’m opposed to all but Stanford, tbh. Now they really would improve the Big 12 athletically. Not every day you can add the winningest AD in the country. If we had to add Cal to make it happen I guess thems the breaks. At the end of the day I think the ACC probably gets the votes but who knows
It’s supposed to be mid-90’s Friday and even hotter over the weekend so just from that Friday is probably a good call. It’s also good exposure when we’re on a real tv channel, but this one would be on the Plus regardless.
Lmao that dude is softer than Liberace at the playboy mansion
@jayballer67 zero chance Stanford goes MWC and Cal can’t afford to drop to G5. Revenue will stay the same, the Big 12’s media deal has a pro rata clause for adding P5 schools.
@dylans Presidents and Chancellors care a lot. And I’ll be honest, it made me a lot less excited to be the league being the only AAU school. That’s been remedied some with the Arizonas, Utah, and Colorado but it’s still not what it was.

@jayballer67 I know for a fact the Big 12 Presidents and Chancellors want Stanford. It’s just if Stanford would accept the invite.
Dam had heard this Conference did not want to become a 20 team Conference. - -Stanford and Cal add nothing athletically. Sure research wise they are good, but Basketball their brand brings nothing.- - Their football programs suck. -- They bring nothing Brand wise.
Thing is the more teams you add the smaller the payout- - all they would do is dilute the payouts to the Schools , that's not gonna fly.
The Big 12 is in a very good spot right now, they need to stand pat and wait and see what happens to the ACC - -If it implodes then good chance of adding Louisville, Pitt or Vitginia Tech -- -Maybe a NC State just think terribl emove if it comes to it to add these two Schools- -No Brand value-- -Let them go independent.
Not really. The pro rata still exists. I’m all for Stanford. Boosts most sports in the league and the sports the Big 12 doesn’t have they already have parked in other leagues nobody’s heard of. Maaaaybe would also induce the Big 12 into adding wrestling, which KU should be very competitive if we do it right. Plus academics. Yeah I’ll own being the nerd that still cares about such pursuits 😂

Definitely some optimism there. Honestly I'd sprinkle some dough that Booker starts at WDE next week.
@benshawks08 I think that'll be the lineup but it's just fan created stuff. So I wouldn't read into it on its own.
The Big 12 should probably win at least 2 playoff games before trying to change the way it goes. The SEC has more playoff wins the last two seasons than the Big 12… ever.
@jayballer67 do we though 😜
I'm cautiously optimistic on the DL. Sounds like the Minnesota transfers are really going to be something and DJ Withers is finally breaking out. Phillips will be a beast at nose. The depth is mildly concerning.
Saw some chatter about rotating OL. I don’t know about that. Chemistry among the unit is so important idk if I would mess with it unless you have to. It’s truly a best five, not five best kind of group (pretty similar to basketball in that).
Illinois will be the biggest test. Can we line up on 3rd and 2 and just big boy them for a first? If yes we’ll have a great year. Last year we had to scheme too many runs because we couldn’t blow teams off the ball. Has to change for us to really reach the next level. And protect JD.
@DanR man you’re not kidding. It’s been BRUTAL. About as bad as the 2020 OL.
Good stuff!
Things finally seem to be coming around for Logan Brown. Hopefully Baynes or Lovell can supplant Ford at some point. I like Ford a lot, he’s just limited. Ideally he’s our center next year.
10/29 at Illinois for charity. This is gonna be awesome.
@approxinfinity yeah I had to use another hosting site unfortunately
@nuleafjhawk any time! Hopefully it all works out for you and your son. Enjoy the game!
@nuleafjhawk sounds good. So you really have three different options. For some reason the site isn't allowing me to upload screenshots (for @approxinfinity: "Imgur is over capacity") but I hope they show up eventually.
Option 1 is to park on the street north of the stadium below 9th and between Arkansas and Mississippi Sts. Pro: it's free and an easy walk. Con: you aren't guaranteed a spot.
!alt text ↗
Option 2: park in a garage downtown and take the shuttle to the stadium. The route goes to 8th and Vermont and 6th and New Hampshire. Pro: there are almost always spots and parking is free, though the shuttle is $1 each way. Con: it's a bus ride so idk how crowded it'll be.
!alt text ↗
Option 3: the Allen Fieldhouse garage. Pro: high likelihood of getting a spot and the walk is really nice. Con: it's $30 and you're not guaranteed a spot.

Hopefully that at least gives you an idea. You should be fine on getting a spot if you're there at 5ish.
Couple questions just to recommend the best option. Are you coming for just the game or want to spend some time in town before or after? Is mobility an issue for anyone?
@kjayhawks not much. I also like the north facade but sure seems like it has too big a footprint to stick around.
@bskeet not that I heard. They're putting out RFPs for development around the stadium, so we'll see what folks in the area come up with.
@bskeet ohhhh. In that case there's parking directly west of the stadium by the indoor and the parking garage right by the union. If folks stay at the Oread or on site that will help a lot too.
On the tailgating piece, that's just one of the tradeoffs we have to make to get this done. There will be space on the hill and in the neighborhood north but the actual space there is so limited you can't squeeze everything in.
Downtown is also an option, as well as street parking on Tennessee and Kentucky. Like yeah it'll require some walking but that's the deal if we want an on-campus stadium and not one halfway to Topeka
@Texas-Hawk-10 fiiiine. And arguing about an inch when he’s got a 7’4 wingspan is really a waste of time anyway. He’s flatly not going to be a college 4. Even in the scenario where Hunter comes back it would be tough to play them together. More likely he backs up Hunter and KJ sticks at the 4.

@Texas-Hawk-10 it’s right there in the scouting report https://www.on3.com/db/flory-bidunga-153411/scouting/ ↗
@rockchalkjayhawk very much just a run runner and dunker right now. Not much offensive skill to speak of.
@Texas-Hawk-10 not at KU. He’s a 50% type FT shooter so he just won’t be around long enough for his game to stretch. Now if he’s really 6’10 and gets to 240 then it’s a different conversation.
I will say Flory will be a little bit of a slow burn. He’s kind of a cross between Cliff and Cheick
Indeed. 🐦 View Tweet?s=46&t=c0LiaNrxev6XfT7LIH8dAQ
WE GOT HIM
@dylans it’ll be a reno in name only.
@KirkIsMyHinrich and let’s hope he only plays about half
@KirkIsMyHinrich yep
¯_(ツ)_/¯ on this one. Think we’re better off in the portal if we need a starting big. Don’t get me wrong, I’d be excited if we got him. But I don’t think he’s a better prospect than Cliff was, and he took awhile to get going.
@jayballer67 oh yeah, I've heard $100m+ is pledged and ready to roll
UPDATE: into the 9 figures in donations in the bank. More to come. Add that to the $200m from ARPA/KU Endowment and we're sitting pretty. Tuesday is gonna be fuuuuuun.
Edit: ARPA, not ARRA. There are not any funds left from the 2009 stimulus you imbecile
Boot camp doesn't start for another month. He'll be good to go (yak in a trash can)
YouTube TV has all the sports channels I want (except MLB Network) but it is on the expensive side unfortunately. The unlimited DVR is a nice touch though.

@dylans I believe this weekend. Lawrence is pretty empty right now so there's not much for him to do until everyone gets back.
Just got a chance to watch. The frosh still have no idea what they're doing. Self yelled at Elmarko a few times to drive when he didn't or pass out when he drove. The feel isn't there just yet, which is fine. He's still new-ish to the game and very new to Kansas. At this point you have to be concerned about rebounding. Hunter hasn't rebounded well AT ALL and KJ is... KJ. Missing Terio hurt. He's the only guy right now I trust to go out and get his. Juan is Juan. He's a capable scorer. He looked much more engaged today than Saturday. Everyone says Kev's shot is better, but we need to see it go in. So many bricks today. But overall good trip, we got out healthy, and know where we need to work.
@kuballin10 it was more mental than anything. As a group they kinda just cruised and they’re not good enough to do that yet. Kev foul trouble really disrupted us too. I thought Bill was actually pretty harsh on Juan. Saying he didn’t respect the game was telling.
@kuballin10 Juan will be fine. He still had 9 assists yesterday. TO’s will come down as the team chemistry improves. He’s also not going to shoot 12.5% all year lol. 29 assists on 37 shots is crazy good and will only improve with time.
He’s not wrong about Terio. He did his best Houdini in the second half. Elmarko is still out of position A LOT. But it’s August and we haven’t even boot camped yet. Going to be a ton of fun watching this group grow.
@kuballin10 we should feast. They’re very, very, very young. Decent athletes but taking a bunch of guys from a bad high school class isn’t really a recipe for success. Class of 2012 this is not.
