@BeddieKU23 of course. Not surprising at all
@REHawk that's all we are probably going to get. It seems like every year some talent we need is not available. More wasted opportunities.
Well, looks like we are going to have to wait a couple more weeks to know anything about those two. Lots of time going by without knowing much or anything happening. Lol at the thought of us playing Texas with no one to back up Dok. That should be fun
@justanotherfan or because we already have Dotson and Moore. Don't need three point guards necessarily though it is nice to have a guy who can handle the rock and direct in an emergency
@drgnslayr I like Sam. He is the perfect guard off the bench.
I noticed our guards hedging a bit but sometimes it was executed well, sometimes it wasnt. I loved how Self had Marcus playing post denial. For a while, I thought I was watching Villanova with how well we schemes to deny Reid the ball on the low block. Well done.
@mayjay I don't remember which site. Maybe phog.net
Would be awesome to hear results on Billy and Silvio today (highly doubt that happens though).
@drgnslayr I've never complained about early Christmas presents.
@mayjay thanks. Folks on other ku sites have posted quotes from the ncaa that they close today but that must be incorrect.
@BeddieKU23 I think as a whole the team got so reliant and infatuated with shooting the three that their other offensive advantages were largely ignored. It was good to see Svi and others attacking last night and feeding Dok a bit, though I think both are still in short supply.

@REHawk I'm not qualified to mention a players defense! I've heard JNewell talk about Garrett's D as being outstanding, I think he said he's our best defender. Obviously that's an important contribution.
He did a great job guarding Reid and denying him the ball in the post. Loved his effort.
@jaybate-1.0 don't forget Trae Young. We aren't going to win the league without two more bigs. Ain't gonna happen.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I heard the ncaa is closed today, so we are unlikely to hear anything for a couple weeks if that is the case.

Iād take a team of RS Sr. Embiid and 4 Clay Youngs vs the NCAA field.
Exchange one of those Clay Young's for frank and I'm with you.

Woe is us because we don't know if or when they'll approved. Woe is us because the players coming in might take a while to get up to snuff. Let's end the pity party. So our team will be at their best once we start playing for the Big Cheese - I can live with that.
I would take a final four over winning the conference any day of the week. The national media would never shut up about it,but honestly, I don't follow those yahoos like i used to. I'm much more concerned about our preparation for march and if the guys we need contributions from are developing.
@KUSTEVE I like how next year is looking A WHOLE LOT. I have no idea what jaybate is expecting.
@drgnslayr we all know its going to be the same thing as it always is. Our guards will give actual effort into defense for a few possessions or minutes, then act like they don't care about it for the rest of the game. Trae will slice and dice, making our guards look inept, followed by little or no adjustment from the court or from the sideline. Like clockwork and will remain this way until the tournament when our guys care about effort and energy defensively.
@HighEliteMajor people just make excuses for mediocrity or failed attempts at success. Because KU historically chokes in the tourney and does not play to its potential, under both Roy and Self, people start to concoct reasons and excuses, claiming "at least we make the tournament" and other dumb statements. Not for not are we known as chokers to the rest of the country. VCU, UNI, Bradley, and Oregon were huge letdowns on an embarrassing level (no wissox, embarrassing for the program, not me). People just seem content with winning the conference or getting a couple high profile wins each season. It's what many have come to expect from Self's tenure - play well during the season and lay a huge egg in March. To quote Morpheus "his weakness, is not his technique (coaching technique".

@Crimsonorblue22 Billy almost certainly will play, just a question of when.
Source? Link?
@drgnslayr he shot 40% from three at ASU. Hopefully that will translate to KU.
@wissox don't you know? Self had ZERO IDEA that Whitman and Dwight would leave. Allegedly, he was in the dark. That and those two thought they would be behind Mitch Lightfoot, at least according to posters here.
@HighEliteMajor yeah I mean its kind of silly. Izzo, Calipari, K and a host of others have had some good years and tourney runs with talent that is typically below their standard. Self is good, but honestly he is not better or more impressive than any of the coaches I just named.
@BigBad of all the excuses, youth is definitely the dumbest. This ain't a young team folks.
@Crimsonorblue22 to most everyone else, confidence is the correct word.
@JayHawkFanToo how did you come up with cockiness? That is the completely incorrect adjective.
@benshawks08 we are due for a final four run soon. I don't think it would be a bad thing to get a three, four or five seed in March and not feel so much expectation.
@JayHawkFanToo the point still stands regardless of how many minutes or seconds.
@KUSTEVE I agree. Something is off with him.
@JayHawkFanToo nope I said five minutes. I know it doesn't fit the current narrative but there was a definite difference in the next thirty five minutes energy and intensity wise. A friend watching it with me saw the same thing.
JayHawkFanToo said:
That was familiarity with AFH and cockiness. After Arizona State settled the team lost its poise.
So hustling and playing with great energy is being cocky? You and I must have watched two different games. I watched the KU game on Sunday December 10th at 1 where they played how we thought they could play in the first five minutes. How about you?
@wissox but it proves they are capable of it and that's actually the most important part.
I disagree with everyone - the first five minutes showed how good out guards can be defensively. Honestly, that was the best five minute stretch of defense I've seen since 08. The real question is, why did they do it for only five minutes?
@BShark also, do you think there is a strong enough connection between Dotson and Williamson that could possibly lead to his commitment to KU?

@BShark based on the first nine games, what are the odds Dok stays? He isn't really even on any draft boards.
Not sure. We are already oversigned by 1 though and Self has talked about wanting to add more players.
If we see only Newman and Billy go early and add a random, non-contributing/developmental recruit, that would be pretty awesome.
Dotson, Grimes, Vick, Dedric, Doke
Bench: KJ, Garrett, Silvio, McCormack, Cunliffe, Mitch
Yeessssh.
What other players could we sign besides Langford?
@BShark the no defense part leaves me a bit skeptical then. The last thing next year's team needs is a loafer that would fit in with this year's squad. Uggh doesn't sound appealing. I suppose Zion is out of the question?
@BShark ok thank you for the intel. I'm not as up on recruiting as I should be.
@BShark yes but is he an upgrade over Vick?
@BShark I love that roster and all the sixe but I would like it better if we could get Langford.
@Hawk8086 with the effort, focus and lack of smarts our players have, it's not much fun to talk about this year. I'm ready for the type of ball we used to play that got us a ring and a title game appearance.
@Hawk8086 what is the harm with talking about bringing in better players next year?
@BShark based on the first nine games, what are the odds Dok stays? He isn't really even on any draft boards.
@truehawk93 what are you talking about?
@truehawk93 so not having the players that are the problem won't help?
@truehawk93 there are too many inconsistent, offense oriented, soft and unsmart players for a couple additions to fix. We need an overhaul and it's coming next year.
And I forgot to mention Marcus Garrett who I think will turn into an old style Bill Self guard. Man I miss the days of Chalmers, Robinson, Releford and Tyshawn.
@BShark nowadays that seems more like a luxury lol. It used to be the standard.
Not being a Debbie Downer or having a meltdown, but I'm already ready for next year and hopefully be rid of the soft and stupid play. No wild and inconsistent Svi and Graham and probably no Newman, which is for the best. Dok should stay but may not - just too much that he doesn't know or can't do yet.
I'm ready to see some actual size and NBA talent with Dotson, Grimes, Desousa and the Lawsons. Hopefully those guys will bring back the grit and toughness that past teams had and what we have sorely missed the last five years. I'm ready for it already. Just tired of seeing our teams the last few years play terrible defensively, make bad passes and get outhustled in general. Next year is looking very good.
Whenever you are relying on a player like him, against major competition, you are in trouble.
@KUSTEVE maybe he's saving his energy for late in the season.
@justanotherfan north carolina, the national champs last year, lost to Georgia tech, a team that did not make the tournament. Last year, we lost to TCU yet came out hot in the tournament.
Unless we go on a losing streak, this game has absolutely zero impact on tourney results.
