Got an early morning - I'm not going to stay up and watch undisciplined basketball. Multitude of reasons for this down year but recruiting wiffs are chief among them.
@Crimsonorblue22 not a disciplined group same as last year's squad. Too often gets out toughed and out hustled.
Just not a defensive minded group. Three straight times Tech got to the rim for a layup. This is why offense doesn'tget you to the final four folks.
@wissox there is a sense of lowered expectations isn't there? Kind of disappointing to see quite honestly.
@kjayhawks agreed but the main thing for me is: how often do we go inside? Will OU try to matchup with us or will McNiece be guarding Svi? That to me will be huge as well.
The best option is to throw different defenders and defenses at Trae and make him think. I like putting Marcus on him a bit so Devonte doesn't have to carry such a big load.

No amount of beatdowns over Shalaka will ever replace that elite eight loss. His team was simply more focused, hungrier and looser than ours was and it showed. Dont get me wrong, beating him is great and further proves that he is Bill's inferior as far as coaching skill, but it never makes me feel better.

@cragarhawk Zona has as big advantage inside. They should exploit that heavily.
@Gunman that's why the ASU game is so frustrating to me. He is a matchup advantage against everyone not named Bamba and Bagley and we barely used him in that game.

Dok is the key when the threes aren't falling. We didn't utilize nearly as what we could have against ASU, and hopefully that's a lesson the team has learned.
I think we would have been better off with Cunliffe. More length, height, rebounding and hopefully better shot making.

@Blown agreed about the press. Besides getting the ball in, I thought we did fine.
Tonight was a unique game due to Bamba's ability to protect the ENTIRE paint. This was a game where we absolutely had to have three point shooting or else it's probably an L.
No other team has a defensive player on the level of Bamba, and I've watched just about every top 50-75 team play. Things should be a bit easier in the paint the next few games.
Jay during the game acted as though the Billy situation was all but done, saying that KU did all it needed to do on Billys behalf in order to get him eligible. We are about to get a shot in.the arm folks.
Absolutely no reason to lose in stillwater. They have no one to stop Dok.

@drgnslayr that comes back to coaching, imo. They need to stop beating themselves.
@BeddieKU23 they've been doing a better job of attacking the last couple games, especially Svi. They just need some coaching on how to not get swatted all the time, imo.

@FarmerJayhawk boy I hope you're right. We have seen players do less and decide to still leave though.
@BShark and people wonder why I can't wait for next year. We'll finally have a real Bill Self team, which hasn't been seen since 2013. I'm ready to see some real toughness and defense like we used to see.
@BShark yeah Dotson and Grimes will need time. After that though, with Dok, no reason to not reach the final four. Too much depth and talent across the board. If we could get by the non con with no losses though, I think a one or two loss season would be realistic.
@BShark with the way he's been playing, I don't think he'll be back unfortunately. If he does though, do we lose more than two games all year?

@KUSTEVE the key to deep March runs is defense. Been a long time since Self has fielded a good defensive team. I'm looking forward to it.

I'm starting to think this Billy thing is a distraction designed by Self. It's taken so long with the paperwork being submitted at a late period that this is not looking positive.
