March 18: News Headlines Digest • Mar 18, 2014 03:47 PM

In retrospect, this will end up being one of the biggest blunders in conference decision-making of all times. Could even mean the difference if this conference makes it.

@drgnslayr I have been saying that for the longest time. There has to be more working TV's in the greater Louilville area than in all of WV. You also get a team that is competitive in football and basketball. The AAC and next year the ACC stole them when in all honesty they should be a member of the Big12.

I am just glad that conference realignment is done for now.

@Crimsonorblue22 Maybe they should watch a few of his throw downs in the WV game.

Future site features • Mar 17, 2014 10:52 PM

Oh Oh can we get a time traveling feature? You know so when we post something late at night after a bad loss and a few extra cold ones we can go back in.....oh wait you have an edit button already.

Never mind.

But on a serious note what about that Sarcasm Font?

Is it bad I don't have any 1 seeds in the Final 4 this year?

KUBuckets Brackets on ESPN • Mar 17, 2014 04:44 PM

@VailHawk What have I ever done to youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu???

Oh well, GAME ON!!!

An open letter to ISU fan • Mar 16, 2014 04:22 PM

ISU could lose in the first round to some nobody school, and they would be fine with having beat KU once

@MoonwalkMafia Like Mizzlose did as a two seed their last year in the Big12? yeah and they will probably suffer the same fate. After all these players leave due to graduation or early due to the NBA what will they have left? They have no bench, he hasn't built it up with freshman cause he has been pulling in transfers. Great for short term, what about long term? Or is ol Fred going to the NBA now that he has had some success? Is he using his Alma matter as a stepping stone?

Rethinking SOS • Mar 16, 2014 01:58 PM

@HighEliteMajor I think you are right about not being at home for so long, but this was a really young team and adding Black add another to the newbie group.

It might pay off though while traveling for the tournament. leave on Wed comeback late Sunday night. Leave again on Wednesday come back again on Sunday and so on.

I always thought that all that time away from home brought this team closer together let them bond more and become brothers. Last year the team went over seas and I think that helped forge a bond too.

I don't know though, it also took its tool on this team this year. Ahhhhh so many good things about it sooooo many bad things about it.

An open letter to ISU fan • Mar 16, 2014 01:51 PM

@nuleafjhawk A friend took their daughter up to ISU for a college visit, she's a respectful looking girl and all the guys kept moooooing at her. Finally they asked why that was happening she isn't fat. Their tour guy said that's the main pick up line here at ISU.

Our Best Chance To Win Six Games • Mar 16, 2014 01:50 PM

I am not a pessimist, not am I an optimist of this team, what I am is a realist.

I don't see it as half empty or half full, I see it for what it is. Sometimes it's terrible and others its great. Makes for a helluva roller coaster ride, but I see this team has what it takes to win 6. It has what it takes to dominate. And yet it could still implode in the second game.

Frustrating? Yes. Enjoyable? Yes. All in all this team is fun to watch for about 90% of the time, the other 10% has a mixed bag of feelings attached.

An open letter to ISU fan • Mar 16, 2014 01:39 PM

Dear ISU fan(s),

I am writing you this letter to let you know that yes you beat KU in the Big12 tournament. Good for you. Sure it wasn't a pretty game by us, not sure we were all in though either. Our quest was to break the tie vs Oklahoma St., after all that Marcus Smart talk aobut us wanting to cut down their nets.

Yes ISU fan you won the Big12 tournament. YOu did not break our steak of winning the Big12 like so many of you are talking about. YOu won the tournament, we have won the league 10 straight years.

OK you beat us, finally!!!! Kansas leads the all-time series with Iowa State 175-60, dating back to 1908, and has won five-straight and 18 of the last 20 meetings. ISU's last win was Jan. 28, 2012, 72-64 in Hilton Coliseum. Since the inception of the Big 12, Kansas is 31-9 against Iowa State with a 28-9 record in regular-season play and a 3-1 mark in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship. Kansas head coach Bill Self is 21-4 all-time versus Iowa State, including 20-4 while at KU, while ISU's Fred Hoiberg is 2-8 all-time against KU.

OK so now that you saw that you can understand why when you try to talk trash to me I don't care about your school, your program or your coach. I would point out scoreboard over and over and yet all you can hang your hat on is one game. Want to go one game last year you lost at home and you had a fan come after our coach, you had drunken idiot fans threaten to shoot at the bus and used racial slurs. Classy ISU, classy.

I have never held anything against you, thought ISU made a good hire in ol Fred, but will they be able to keep him out of the NBA? Does ISU have enough money to pay the local hero to stay? Or will the Timberwolves hire him away? Oh you hadn't thought about that uh? I have never had anything bad to say, but I am sure like Kstate and Missouri you will make a DVD about this season and spend most of the time highlighting one win over Kansas instead of the whole season. By the way KU only puts those out when they win National Titles, oh you don't know what that is, sorry.

OK so now I've cleared my mind and am at ease that hopefully you understand why I am ignoring you and your non-sense about being so great with just one victory over Kansas in well damnit that stats are up there go a head and re-read them.

Sincerely annoyed,
JRyman

Living in Omaha...ahhhh • Mar 15, 2014 04:54 AM

Foxsports1 had big east or something like that. Foxmidwest had some nobody turny.

Overall I was pissed

Living in Omaha...ahhhh • Mar 15, 2014 04:29 AM

So I watch pregame on ESPNU then right before tip off they send it over to the LSU v Kentucky game.

I look at the channel guide and it says Big12 semi final game Iowa st v Kansas. But no go.

I look at the local Big12 network channel which is the CW and no sports there either.

I watched the game on an iPad. That's when it wasn't overwhelmed by the number of people watching the game.

Omaha has a large Kansas fan base and a lot of KU alum. How does cox cable the big12 and espn do this?

I blame the Huskers for running off to the big10.

That added a lot to my frustration of the game.

Why We Lost to Iowa State • Mar 15, 2014 03:23 AM

Self said it post game that most teams you try and force to shoot 3s. Not ISU.

He also said how many centers and PFs can shoot the three like that.

Why We Lost to Iowa State • Mar 15, 2014 02:56 AM

@Crimsonorblue22

One. Themselves.

Well, that wasn't good. • Mar 15, 2014 02:02 AM

Well hell that wasn't what I expected.

Traylor looked slow.

Wiggins looked timid.

Ellis started red hot but then the second half he Dolby Grayed it and drifted away.

Selden couldn't get it going.

Green tried.

Mason was two little as in his height was an issue on D.

Agree about Tharpe why wasn't he shooting? But 9 assist is a good thing.

Defense? Well that needs some consistency. Effort. Weak side help.

Who? Part Two • Mar 14, 2014 10:36 PM

@drgnslayr and they have to stop wiggins.

And lately ain't nobody been able to even slow him down.

Rock chalk

Aaron Craft OSU

Marcus Smart OSU

Quinn Cook Duke

Coach K Duke

Coach Boeheim Syracuse

Ballots are due by tip off of the Kansas ISU game tonight 6 pm CST

@wrwlumpy After watching that video and slightly throwing up in my mouth a little, I can't decide if he's a flopper or just has really bad coordination, maybe its vertigo??

No he's a flopper bad actor poor sport whinny little....I better stop before I say something that makes him shove me

They All Stepped Up.. • Mar 14, 2014 06:18 PM

@HighEliteMajor I am starting to feel that way about Lucas lately.

@drgnslayr You are killing it today!!!!

Moooooooooooo

That is the pick up line at Farmtech

FLOOR BURN AWARD: KU vs OSU - March 13 • Mar 14, 2014 04:06 PM

Wiggins dive on the floor in OT literally and figurality earned him a floor burn

Who? Part Two • Mar 14, 2014 04:05 PM

Black Death and Bam Bam!

@drgnslayr

That is AWESOME!!!!!

Who? Part Two • Mar 14, 2014 01:46 PM

Who will step up tonight vs Iowa St?

Sure the easy pick is Andrew

I am going with Traylor, I think his quickness on D is going to help us out vs the spread floor of ISU.

They All Stepped Up.. • Mar 14, 2014 01:44 PM

@truehawk93 I bet Smart got paid more this year than Ford did too.

Lets see last year projected top 5 pick top 10 for sure, and he stays.

Wonder how big of check T. Boone wrote for him to stay one more year??

Did Bill Self really call.... • Mar 14, 2014 01:20 AM

At the post game on floor interview did Bill self call Holly Rowe "Babe". I swear he said, "thanks babe".

Maybe it was "thanks bye". But I'm not sure and that doesn't sound like a Self quote but either does babe.

Anyone?

Who? • Mar 14, 2014 01:06 AM

@JayHawkFanToo yes it is. And he's a jumper too. He can get up!!

He had a nice block today that was impressive.

He's gonna be one of the special ones when he's done at KU. Especially knowing his story and how relatively new he is to organized ball.

Who? • Mar 14, 2014 01:02 AM

@JayHawkFanToo yeah Jamari is solid man. He is becoming one of my favorite Jayhawks.

He doesn't force shots. He does what's asked of him. He can play solid D and his shot is becoming very smooth.

I only got to see the second half and OT.

Perry went from rising star a year ago to wilting flower today. Hopefully he gets going tomorrow. He at least got some rebounds today. Maybe someone in the crowd can borrow my kids Phineas and Ferb poster asking "where's Perry"

Jamari is steadily becoming one of my favorite Jayhawks. He's a gamer. Emotion. Defense. He does what's asked of him. Plus he is very underrated on the offensive side.

Who? • Mar 14, 2014 12:16 AM

Wiggins stepped up alright barely missing from the field.

Ellis sat down today, at least he rebounded.

Black stepped up today, played a lot and didn't foul out and played good D.

Tharpe stepped up making his FTs in OT

SeldOn stepped up playin solid D and scoring

Lucas stepped up and sat right back down.

Smart flopped, Forte flopped.

The refs stepped up late and OKst didn't get calls cause of their flopping reputation.

Message of the Day Quotes Part III • Mar 14, 2014 12:01 AM

"Yes. I am the fan No. 1 of KU." Col. Thomas Embid

I had met a guy who named his dog D-O-G pronounced deohgie but it sure looked a lot like DOG when he wrote it out.

My wifes boss named his Taxi.

We used to run a junk zone D out of a 2-3, when playing a taller post player. When the ball went into the corner the man on the block would run out to cover him while the guard up top slid down to front the post player and have the center back him.

We forced a lot of TOs that way, cause guys would see the post as open and make a week pass and our guards would come down to front quickly to get the steal. That or once the post player had it he was already doubled.

We were a man 2 man team that liked to press a lot but we threw some junk D's in there from time to time to mess with people.

Who? • Mar 13, 2014 03:45 PM

@drgnslayr

Townsend, Roberts and Howard

@jaybate 1.0 Wow the ole Keystone pipeline debate. Well it was ruled that they did NOT have and could not use Eminent Domain and steal the land from farmers and ranchers, they will have to pay for it now. They did have to reroute it as it was not allowed to go through the Sandhills region of the state, (that's the part I grew up in) due to a spill that would lead directly to the Ogallala aquifer.
They keep trying and trying and I am sure the federal government will override all things that the Nebraska government has done to protect its own just to make a buck and destroy more of this great land.
Oh the almighty dollar

March 13: News Headlines Digest • Mar 13, 2014 03:39 PM

@dylans Silver in on the right railway at this point, he just needs to get on the right track. Go the way of college baseball, you can be drafted right out of high school and go into the NBA or play three years of college ball.

The NFL makes you wait until after your third year out of HS so you are physically bigger than when you were 17/18.

There haven't been many HS players that have made a splash in MLB right away like the NBA, James, Bryant, Garnett, and Moses Malone had big impacts, D. Howard was good but could have used a few years in college to be even better. But then you have to look at guys like Kwami Brown who fell flat.

Kietzman and the KU Conspiracy Theory • Mar 13, 2014 03:22 PM

@wrwlumpy In an unrelated story the Screen Actors Guild will not be giving Marcus Smart any awards for acting this year. They can't believe how bad his over acting is and he is getting away with it.

Today's over/under's • Mar 13, 2014 02:54 PM

@nuleafjhawk "Flops by Marcus Smart. 5.5"

You're a flopper....You're a flopper.....You're a flopper....

That's what the crowd should be chanting today.

@JayhawkRock78 I have lived in Nebraska my whole life and still been a Jayhawk fan, Basketball, football you name it. I hear it all the time, "Hey man you're not in Kansas anymore this is Husker territory"

I just remind them that there is a greater power than Tom Osborne and being a Husker fan. God and the First Amendment, I have the freedom to cheer for whoever I want.

Today's over/under's • Mar 13, 2014 12:19 PM

Margin if victory by KU. 7.5

Points by Andrew Wiggins. 21.5

Fouls by Tarik Black. 3.5

Turnovers by Nadir Tharpe. 4.5

Assist by Andrew Wiggins? 2.5

Timeouts used by KU. 3.5

Flops by Marcus Smart. 5.5

Looks of bewilderment by Travis Ford shown on TV. 9.5

The number of times that it is mentioned that Joel Embid will not be playing. 99.5. Yes that's two nines next to each other.

KU gets OSU tomorrow... • Mar 13, 2014 03:38 AM

@VailHawk well add the flopper to a list. Big country, pants on backwards, Eddie sutton, Sean sutton, keiton page, Travis ford, T Boone Pickens.

Those are the ones that were on top of my head.

@VailHawk if my aunt Mary had testicles we'd call her uncle Larry.

cough cough ah ummmm

Making a run without JoJo • Mar 13, 2014 01:16 AM

-2008/09: 65.4 ppg, ranked 106th (another team with 5 new starters).

@HighEliteMajor I think that 5 new starters is the key. Selfs best D's are when he has older players that not only get his style of ball, but also get what they are working for.

Cimsonorblue22 blame some on the new rules! I agree with you as well. Take Aaron Craft who was known as such a great defender for three years is average at best this year.

I guess we just need to score more than the other team to stay alive.

Have Faith • Mar 13, 2014 12:51 AM

@konkeyDong Lefty Gomez circa 1931 said it, "I'd rather be lucky than good."

This time of year that is so true.

@jaybate 1.0 Dido

@JayhawkRock78 What your not in Kansas any more?

Sorry that was to easy of a joke to make.
